Great video! I worked for a beekeeper in New Zealand for a season. He had over 600 hives and used all full depth boxes for honey. Seeing that crane attached to your truck made me very jealous as those boxes can weigh up to 60 lbs and hauling them on and off the truck by hand makes a back really hurt!
I sure do envy you on going to this level as I will never get to but I love your on what it takes on bee health to go on and it’s very similar to me !!
I see that little steam generator hiding behind the extractor and wondering what brand you have. My steam pot is on its last leg looking for something better. Great video, enjoy the silent viewing of things, there's so much to observe and learn from.
I am always impressed with how smooth your operation runs. This is a testament to your skillset. If you are taking guesses for this year's production I am guessing 385,000 pounds. The employees will get a good bonus.
I love the efficiency of your honey extraction line. Curious about that last bit, producing the long strands of wax though. I hope that you can go into that in some more detail soon.
I know a commercial guy near me would put up big bug zappers in his shop to get rid of extra bees that came in with the supers since he didn't have any windows really. I like your approach though, every hive you can get through the winter helps tremendously
Hey Ian....maybe those hanging plastic strips used a lot in Industry....6-inch strips of plastic...hanging across the whole entry doorway...just an idea....
Just thinking about the Bee’s at the Honey house could you build a screen room outside the door where you could pull the trucks inside before you open the door to the honey house ???🤷♂️🤷♂️
hello sir, incredible beekeeping in your place. I want to learn with you, I am a traditional beekeeper from the province of Bengkulu, Indonesia💟🙏🙏🙏🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
One very interesting video, especially the honey house operation, how many 44 gallon drums of honey total if you don't mind me asking , you said this year better than last year what has changed ??? Peter Australia
Will you be expanding your hive count for next year? Looks like you have your infrastructure down very well. Your wax awger press system works amazingly. Very impressed with your setup.
Hey Steve your daughter looks like she is going to be a hard worker with good work ethics. I was wondering if having lids on the truck you could cap off each stack as it is made then once the row is established you could pull the lids and pull the tarp over them? Also at the honey house do you think that a couple of livestock fans blowing across the entrance might keep the bees from following you? Thank you for your blogpost s! Bill in Fort Collins, Colorado
Do you have a link or something for that manipulation hands on the truck? I am interested to see more info about them. Also, that pneumatic thing at the beginning of the video is an interesting solution too. Greetings, and thanks :)
Do you have the bitterweeds and snow on the prairies plants that far north. They started blooming in august stopping honey harvesting here pretty well.
Noticed that the very top box of the stacks do not have a lid which draws the robbing bees. Wouldn't throwing a piece of plywood, or that silver covering you put under the lids, on the top of the stack greatly reduce the attraction of robbing bees?
Ian, would one of those flexible translucent slat doors that you might see in a refrigerated warehouse work? I've seen them passing fork trucks and people pretty easily. Might make it easier on you and your crew to pass through while keeping a lot of bees out.
I'll be interested to see if you find the new wax auger a worthwhile investment come wax season. Have you been able to determine how much more honey it recovers, on average?
I really enjoy your videos I’m surprised the number of subscribers isn’t higher. Sometimes that just takes off especially if the videos are liked and shared. It would be interesting to make a quick note of how the titles correlate with the number of views? Etc I’m wondering because I believe this can be a source of some income in addition to being super helpful to apiarists everywhere. Also I enjoy your entrepreneurial approach and your striving for efficiency and effectiveness for you and your staff and most especially for the bees. Oh yes - and one can’t say often enough how much bee husbandry is really symbiotic and protects our environment. Always looking forward to your videos. Thank you 🙏
He's only processing the wax cappings that are removed to extract the honey. The comb remains so that next year the bees just put honey in the cells without making the comb.
I thought the same thing. I tried to make myself feel better by remembering the drones have nothing to contribute - except sperm. Didn't work. I tried to focus on the fact that workers that defend the colony do so at the cost of their own lives most of the time. Didn't help. I reminded myself these are not human males and to stop anthropomorphizing this. Small, tiny help there. Its how this species has developed to give them the best chance at survival - and to mess it up could be disastrous for the species, and to some degree for many other species, humans included. This helped the most. But it still left me feeling sorry for the drones.
Thanks for sharing Ian. Great to have a peek at your smooth operation. You have a fine, hard working crew. How many are family members? A Well honeyed machine!
She's your number one sidekick and foreman, eh? She really knows how to handle herself and really knows the ropes quite well. Heir to the Throne? Great family Ian. God has blessed you! @@aCanadianBeekeepersBlog
Ian, when you strip off those last single deeps above the excluder, do you just set them out in the yard and let the bees rob them out? It sounded like you do, but wasn't sure.
Takes time and time is money you should see some return . These vids have turned my bee keeping around. Starting nice business now. Rearing queens in area we had no supply . Got more honey then I know what to do with
I could watch your honey production all day! It’s so fascinating. However, the thought of cleaning all that equipment?? Must be a monumental task? 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Hi Ian. Couple of questions. How long does the extractor run and do you run it backwards half way through? I dont think I've ever seen workers clearing out drones. Looks like a rodeo. 😁
What if you put a large trap out funnel on the window where the bees are trying to escape, that should let them exit. I know their bee yards are miles away though.
. This year I have noticed that there was hardly any honeybees whatsoever same thing with wasp. It is very strange the Yellowjackets didn't try to make a nest on my porch which they usually try at least two or three times and I haven't seen any honeybees whatsoever. Does anybody out there have an idea as to why? The other day September 16 I put out a little sugar water no Bees came to drink from it only one landed near and it died from what I do not know. I looked on the B and did not see any mites. But they are very small it would probably have been better if I used a microscope. What say you people out there that know about bees?
Everybody involved in your operation are hard workers and I do hope they are paid extra well....they surely deserve 'combat pay'. The insight you give us of industrial bee keeping and honey production is far removed from those us playing with a few hives. I wonder if a few monster fans might not help keep the robbers blown from the doorways?
Hello from Ukraine! So super organized process! Great job! Well done! You are as an example for me!!! Super!
Impressive to see how hard your young helpers work in the extraction room and in the field!
You could build a canopy cover for your truck and have a large blower to blow the bees away to an extent
Ian, thanks for sharing all your insights, I learn so much from you. Thank You!
you are welcome

Thank you so much for making vdeos about your operation, sir. They are really fascinating to a small-time beekeeper like me.
Great production video to watch. I like the ending where workers bee get a free ride from the drones while evictions take place.
Loving every moment of this video would love to experience the way u guys do bee keeping and learn from u guys to apply to my bees
Thanks a bunch for showing your whole honey extraction process. I had not seen the spinner before. Answers a lot of questions I had had. B-)
Its good to see all that bees...keep them well in your perfect lovely nature...
Bee Crews Rule! Excellent work team you have there.
I sure do envy you on going to this level as I will never get to but I love your on what it takes on bee health to go on and it’s very similar to me !!
Love seeing this. Thanks for sharing. I have got to get one of those hive body lifts.
What is it the lack of different types of pollen causing them to kick the drones out ? Something we never see in our area..
Thats what Im talking about boss , a hard working family , love your hard working spirit guys,

Thanks for sharing and helping us newbie bee keepers !! And how do you store your honey suppers and frames over the winter.
Omg the clip of the bees at the window at the end 😳🤣 love it
OMG Portal song hahah love it.
Thanks for the video, very clear teamwork. hello from Ukraine
Hi Ian you could put some heavy duty strips over the door to stop the bee's getting in.
Super,
Nevalja sto toliko pcela nastrada
For the honey house, have you considered a high velocity air curtain for the doorway?
Chris Turley interesting thought
Hey Ian....maybe those hanging plastic strips used a lot in Industry....6-inch strips of plastic...hanging across the whole entry doorway...just an idea....
Bees are inside boxes when they are brought inside

Would a couple of large fans blowing high speed air across the entrance door help to prevent the bees flying into the building?
that is called wind curtain blower, good idea.
Ok, if you will pay for electricity
Will you be expanding your hive count for next year? Looks like you have your infrastructure down very well.
Your wax awger press system works amazingly. Very impressed with your setup.
A major limitation on how many hives he carries over to next year is the number of hives he can fit into his bee shed (hot house) for overwintering
@@davidsachs4883 I see. Makes since.
I was surprised to see both the wax spinner and the screw press. If I may ask what machine gets what product flow in your operation?
What an awesome setup but I hate to think of cost it took to get to this !!
Genau das selbe habe ich auch gedacht. Mir ist schlecht geworden.
Wow.. wonderful...
Surprised by how hard the bees are working
and dying
To handle the robber bees could you vent the room to the rear of the building. Put a smoker to either side of the entrance?
Very interesting video of commercial honey production........I would like to have heard a narrator describing the honey/wax extraction process.
I'm curious what you do with the extracted boxes. Do you allow the bees to lick them clean? I don't think I've seen that in your videos.

Wondering if you have your own recipe for feeding patties or do you buy commercial stuff? Would love to have a good recipe to make at home.
5:13 What is this machine? What and how its doing?
How do you store all your frames you extracted from? Impressive work by the team. Thanks for sharing.
At the very end of the video, it's drones being rejected from the colony, right? Cause it's end of summer, all queens have mated, etc.
Great video 👌 What is the name of those hives and where do i order them from?

The jury is out yet
Do you open the window to get the bees out of the honey house or what. Thanks for the video
Look at that good work guys
Am curious what the totals for this years harvest from the bees will be. Both in honey production and wax production.

He's only processing the wax cappings that are removed to extract the honey. The comb remains so that next year the bees just put honey in the cells without making the comb.
Carrie blew the snot out of those bees! At the end, it sure is a tough time of year to be a drone!

Is it somehow a idea to make a sort of smoke cannon or smokecurtain at the entrance of the honeyhouse? Just a wild idea
Hello Ian, are you feeding your bees right after you pull all honey boxes ???
Is it possible to harvest and try to keep the bees for next season ?
