No worries guy. Much the same here. The rounds of OAV drop is immense. The good news, the mites are dead. The bad news … big mite drops at this time of year means small clusters in the spring. They will survive and make it through, but are gonna be small, like 2-3 frames by spring. Just make a mental note now, that come spring to expect that and do not be quick to shake out the weak. Save those small clusters in the spring and boost them, such as wil bulk bees from packages or your method of putting above a strong hive. Save and nurse those in the Spring because those are going to be your Boomers mid summer. IMHO.
Thanks for a brief comparison of two units at the end. I have the “boxie” type as well. Love it. Did good this year. I isolate my queens during honeyflow in June for 16 days or so. Once they are broodless OAV treatment. For the winter, also queens are isolated since sept 5. Treated again once the brood was out. Love watching your videos. Subscribed.
The season sure did go fast. Seems like it was not too long ago you were building the new flatbed for your truck getting ready to set your hives out, and now you are getting ready to put them up for the winter.
The vaporizer units I was building for you are still half way complete laying on my work bench. What a busy year. My dad had some bad health problems so I had a bunch more work this year than planned for. Hopefully they’re ready for next spring. 🤞🏼
I purposely did fewer oxalic treatment this last year to find hives that were better at handling the mites didn't get around to doing washes so I'm flying blind right now. still did my regular treatments this year it's apigard
Glad to see those instantvaps are handling those mites! at 5:08 what gloves were you wearing? A winter glove or something more high temp for use around the units?
Dead mites, ten points each👍😁 washed two apairys this morning and got zeros which means keep hammering them with oa vapour and dropped sponges into them but they're looking good👍
Ian you'll never have anything better than Carrie in your beekeeping operation. I hope you know that. You should keep and cherish her like a drop of water in the desert.. and show her that from time to time. Best asset ever
Ian takes really good care of her . She welcome to his truck she needs it .. she very happy there . Hates days off must enjoy it. Ian took bees and queens from his own boxes to help out a neighbor turned his disaster into a profitable season. Ian really good person just in general
Having someone like Carrie where you can be sure to let her do the job without you having to micromanage is a blessing and worth a lot for your state of mind and your wallet. And lan is a great boss to let her do it. I had a boss in Europe where I was a team leader of a small group. He used to time us for a 4 hive pallet done in two people and then expected us to do all the other ones in the same time. I remember it was 3min per pallet (two hives ich) on what you call canola. He took all the joy out of it for me. He respected me but he wanted me to be an ass to everyone else. I really like the relationship between Carrie and Ian.. it's visible even on the videos
Well I can't say they all were bad. I learned alot from some older ones.. about selection and how to select for drones, keep some hives full of them and saturate the area... by now they went so far with it they even breed out bridge comb to work faster and even look for longer wings in bees.
Привет. Мне нравиться смотреть твои видео, потому что у нас такой же климат как и у тебя. Но пчелы у нас на двух корпусах зимой. Они стоят на улице и один корпус мало. Иан подскажи какая модель сублиматора?
It's true you could stop and talk to us .. adding in your bee Zen would most likely triple the views of this channel. Tell us your bee zinn what are you thinking don't be shy .. we all know your a machine but what's it like at your level? Pour it to us please.. that would probably generate more money for the channel if you could triple the views it would trust me even if took second held the camera because it's funny as hell that shit you snap back at Ian sometimes.. you got think at whole different level can read shit mile off show us
We American folk use blue shop towels and amitraz, of course it’s only a fine if they catch us. Been working for years now. Feel for you Ian, Canada keeping the goods away from you guys.
@@jtlearn1 I also treat with Amitraz, but only 6,2 mg per brood box. Now when my colonies are broodles. It works great. Do you use Apivar? Every year? I mean if it works... But resistance might by an issue
good evening!! hello!! welcome me to your apiary to exchange experience, I would like to meet you and show me new working methods, I am from Romania, I would like to come if you welcome me!! Thank you!!

If they havent shrunk by now they will hold their population well.
Carrie is a good worker, she moves with deliberate practice steps, very efficient.
Koloniler güçlü, biz neden böyle güçlü Koloniler oluşturamıyoruz. Güçlü arı bizde neden yok.
I love how those pallets lock into place when stacked on the truck! Kudos to the builder!!! 😃
Thank you. 🙂

Good employees are very difficult to find in the Modern World, you have a Good One Ian.
Those do work slick for you running the pallets.👍

Carrie/Ian, i use a dampened rag/towel to seal off my entrance when doing OAV, seems to fit tighter with less extra work
Thanks Ian!

If you were a law or accounting firm Carrie would be a partner eligible for bonuses. She is amazing.
My mite load was through the roof in October even after Formic and Apivar since June. So discouraging.
I hear ya
Sonbahar ve kış mücadelesi önemli. Yazın mücadele çok etkisiz
How many days in between acid treatments? Thank you!
As soon as we can get back around

Hi Ian, how many grams of oxalic acid are you using per hive per treatment? Thanks!
If you move your hives to please others, and it’s while bees are flying don’t you lose some winter bees ?
Not flying
