"Beautiful! Incredible! Wynton Marsalis, what this man is doing for the world! After Satch, he is the new ambassador of jazz; Jazz, Jazz, Jazz; I love it!"
I wish UA-cam had a HEART icon! Wynton, I SUREY would send it to you! Thanks or all the LOVE, patience, endurance, and EDUCATION you & yours have shared with everyone. SINCERELY!!!
Great, tone is on warm hot , summerfeelings's energy, like it never end's on tonality's, brrrr.......SCHWABBEL . take your sax's, BILOXI and play with us.
Can't tell you for sure (can't see his fingering)but it sounds like maybe the 1&2 valves are about half way down. Just a guess, maybe some other combo.
i was wondering the same thing....he s good but his sound sounded distorted a lot of times, didnt like it. but althought he excuted a nice growl during his solos that was impressive,
@@da11king The result of bad mics. The Lincoln Center sound people haven't done Wynton's sound very kindly over the last few years either. It really brings out the muddy dryness in the trumpet sound.
This is great but i would say it what this really did was remind of just how incredible Louis Armstrong was and how even today his style is unmatched by even the best. Like Wayne Bergeron or Eric Myrishimo playing Maynard covers. Incredible playing... but it's like a gap a mile wide when you get to the nuances of articulation, vibrato, shaping of the sound. Louis Armstrong's control of vibrato oozes through all of his playing and often so subtle it's barely there. But it is there. Amazing amazing performance and taking nothing at all from the incredible players. To Louis: ua-cam.com/video/SsuNN6kr2Rc/v-deo.htmlsi=1Di9r48ueDSmKaHi
MUCHOS APPRECIADOS AGAIN SIR WYNTON AND ASSOCIATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MANY OF THE YOUNGER JAZZ ENTHUASISTS TODAY WOULD NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE LEGENDARY ''SATCHMO''. AS A LITTLE FELLA AT SCHOOL HE WAS GETTING INTO A BIT OF MISCHIEF...., (like we all have when we were kids) BUT SOME ONE TOOK HIM UNDER HIS ''WINGS'' AND PUT HIM IN THE SCHOOL BAND AND IF I REMEMBER WELL THE MUSIC TEACHER GIVE HIM A TRUMPET AND STARTED GIVING HIM MUSIC LESSONS.., MAN!!!! New Orleans style played by modern musicians. Excellent.
T Clark I can’t agree more!
The sound of that first trumpet! Damn!
I love it

in terms of sound i'll put up LeeMorgan, early Miles over him
Julsånger tradiichonella
A great swinging tune, played so well. Wynton and Anthony Hervey smoke this. Great, great music!
Portrait of Louis Armstrong, but also portrait of the great Cootie Williams. What a great piece and played so beautifully!

Love the sound of the trumpet!! So soulful
No se puede ser más elegante con la trompeta. Ole!! Marsalis, desde España
I already love Marsalis's trumpet, now, I love Anthony Hervey's trumpet sound.
Superb!!!
This is great jazz. For me, Jazz does not get better than this.

Can anyone explain how he plays that note at 4:32? It sounds like a pinch harmonic for trumpets!

NFSCalex | hes half valving, shaking, and growling all at the same time
Pure entertainment, Amazing :)
Bravo!
Super! Danke!
okay young man
Lester Carnegie
What’s young buck’s distortion? Double buzz, something on purpose?
using a growl technique made famous by cootie williams who originally played this tune with ellington band

Trumpet sounds a little different than usually. Either my speakers are broke or the mics are up to hot.

The Dancer killed it I like the dance
I mite have to get me one of those rajas
Were was the trombone?
🔥👏🏾
Lord the Bass Player bad too the bone
It's Emmet Cohen's trio
How does that guy get the double buzz
It's called growling
@@ok-gg5kp no need to be rude
But he’s telling the truth smh
Me gustaría poder comprar una trompetista
Is drummer Kyle Poole here also playing on Emmet Cohen's current UA-cam sessions?
Alternatively, we could call this video “Wynton Marsalis Plays With Everyone That Will Play With Emmett Cohen in Five Years”
Is that a Bach omega the other guy is playing on?
Satch would be very proud
What young buck’s distortion? Double buzz, something on purpose?
It's a growl technique
Pat's hat is amazing😂 (lead alto player)
🎺🥰
Woah Patrick Bartley on alto
How do the trumpets get that dirty tone?
💜🌅
I have one question: what is the girl behind them doing. Is she dancing? I don't know why. Can someone explain me it?
she's tap dancing. Im pretty sure she's like mimicking the set player with subdivision and stuff, I think in the old days sometimes instead of a set player a combo could use a tap dancer to sub or something.......I could be wrong though lol
Michela Marino Lerman
She was invited for the gig and she tap dance in the middle of the stage in some musics, like "take the A train"

Hey is that Patrick?
yes
🎸🍷❤️💯🎈🎷
Holy snare drum stand batman!
Piano player has Ellington’s comping DOWN!
Drummers ridin’ the beat like a jockey...
Hes fucking in it, man....how old is that kid?
DÍKY - SKVĚLÉ (Y)
Love Wynton’s sound on his Monette horn but not keen on the buzzy sound of his wing man.

Very cool. A little bit overkill with the growling though...
Chris Wise I thought that was because of the sound quality of the recording.
Very original and sophisticated sound.
It’s what Louis did soooooo
Didn't sound overkill at all to me. Loved it
i liked it
Yea buoys keep copy Louie and you will go far .
trumpet boss well considering its wynton Marsalis I’d say he’s gone pretty far
great but whats with the random singular dancing chick?
tap dance
If Fred astaire were tap dancing today.. She would give him a run for his money
loll kinda funny what she s doing .. didnt need to be on stage really
What is the name of the better trumpet player....
Which one ? The old one or the young one ?
The old one is Wynton Marsalis, the other one is Anthony Hervey
Anthony outplayed wynton on this one here.. No disrespect to wynton
@@theavengers9665 really? I think wynton was better on this one
@@theavengers9665 Anthony missed a bunch of notes lol

Two of you are just asleep.
They forcing the hell out that swing. Smh. You don't have to do all that to swing.
Young guy is better than wynton lmao
Really? Wynton sounds overall more mature lol
Don't play the fool. Marsalis is the professional showcasing the kids, and going out of his way not to outplay them and put them down.
@@kenmurray8476 yeah but honestly wynton sounded better overall
