This is an amazing take on the Armstrong classic. There are hints throughout the rhythm that point to a fresh, modern approach, all the while preserving rather than copying the exact sound of the studio version. The trombone player cooks with the scat. Finally Marsalis is at the very least Armstrong's equal, but IMO he totally surpasses him in technique. A modern masterpiece. Thanks for uploading it Wynton!
My 93 year old mum in law lives in Melbourne, Aust. suffers from dementia. I often download clips for her and write them to dvd. she will just love this one
Hotter than that? No way...
One of the MOST E-X-T-R-A-O-R-D-I-N-A-R-Y trumpet solos I've hear in my life. Thank you Wynton!! Alberto E. Raineri, Montevideo, Uruguay.
My Lord! This is inspiring. This is why I practice my trumpet everyday. I want to play like Wynton Marsalis. That is my dream.
I won craze......WHYTON KILL ME .....A replica of DADDY LOUIS
The trombone player looks like somebody who has got an important date somewhere else in a few minutes.
I'm disappointed that only one camera was used. I would like to have seen the drummer and pianist some of the time.
Amazing players - and don't forget Dan Nimmer on piano. I believe he's only 40-ish but he holds the melodic part of the rhythm section together.
Wynton at the end, "Heh, transcribe THAT!" :)
Wynton Marsalis - Unbelievable!
Interesting to see the facial reaction differences of
Jon-Erik and Chris both sitting next to Wynton Marsalis when he is playing these fantastic breaks.
Super Rhythm - Section as well.
What amazes me is the amount of energy Wynton puts into his playing this piece
Easily one of the catchiest soloists I've ever heard, love the guy's playing.
Now in mexican. No mameeees, cuanta maestría de Wynton. I made me so happy listening to this. I praise his expertise.
Love wynton's face at
Merci mr Victor Goines pour ce magnifique solo de clarinette !!!!
Love Wynton. One of the best on the planet.
I just know Clark Terry is up there in heaven smiling any time Chris Crenshaw picks up a microphone !!!
WONDERFUL TRUMPET SOLO
What a way to make a living! Can you even imagine? How good life would be! Man, did I take the wrong path.
