I have a 2005 fatboy, Softail with the balancer, and still shakes like a cement mixer. Especially after rebuilding the motor with a new crank. Cam plate, oil pump and all new seals and bearings
+1 counter balance gear shifted 2 full teeth on my 04 TC with a 98" build and wood 6-6r cam pulling 112 ft lbs TQ. Pulled out. Welded the crank n Tig'd the balancer gear. Took material off each balancer weight to exactly even specs. Bike now pulls 116 TQ n is smooth as butter.
If you build a big engine and put the counterbalancer back in is there an upgrade for that bearing because the factory bearing has plastic..🤔 I've always wondered was there an upgrade to that factory bearing on that counterbalancing shaft I have a friend who's Mike broke down on a long distance trip because the bearing and the counterbalancing shaft went bad 😳
We only do if it’s a race bike. Solid mounted engine so you’ll feel some serious vibrations at different RPM ranges. We make awesome power with the counter balancers still in and haven’t seen any issues revving to 7,200 RPMs.
@@MoonshineHarley for most softtail applications would you recommend windowing and edging the crank to help decrease rotational mass since the counter balancers are needed for rideability?
All 2000 thru 2017 Softail models had twin cam B motors Has counter balancer.
The twin cam b or softail engines have internal balancing system that's easily removed as long as you have everything balanced

It probably jumped a tooth I had similar problem. It's a common problem.
It's a tear down job to fix it. I welded my balancer after this Stupid thing. Well It won't happen again if u weld it. Motor company mistakes again.

Speak that knowledge JL💪
M8s with no balancers shake obnoxiously. Nothing like a classic Harley. Will literally vibrate your hands asleep at high rpms
Great info big bro
Softail, twin cams have counter balancers. Damn… You didn’t know that?
I love my twin cam. It loves to rev.

The TC 88" has counter balancers, mine shakes through the entire RPM range without them
I like it to shake a lil bit to!😂😂😂😂😂
They JACKELOPE prefers the shake raddle & roll bro💯
I run the balancer in my 128 bagger And shift at 6400 doesn’t hurt a thing
What is the cost and what is a big moter?
Great
So do you not take them out of softails specifically?
Correct. Softail engines are rigid mounted in the frame.
@@MoonshineHarley oh I see. That would make the negatives outweigh the positives when doing this. Far more vibrations.
I didn't understand him .did he say it's good to take a balancer out at M8 bagger or not to do it.
I will definitely be removing that counterbalance it once my warranty is up
my 2022 M8 whines like a bitch, especially in 3rd gear throttle off...is this the counter balancer?
You guys ever remove the counter balancers off a blueprinted Softail?
