  • June is kind of the start to summer here in Hayward, Wisconsin. June is also the start to one of the coolest walleye bites of the season. I love trolling, I love jigging, I love casting swimbaits but there is just something cool about watching a bobber go down. Today Mitch Biks and I go walleye fishing in the Hayward area and showcase a bite which will dominate the next couple weeks of fishing. Fishing with a slip bobber is a pretty old school technique. In this video I talk about how I tweak a slip bobber to be more efficient and ultimately put more fish in the boat! Thanks for watching and make sure to check out all the products used in our videos. One of my favorite ways to catch walleyes down at the pier with my father-in-law! We park the boat sometimes and just shore fish for them in the spring with jumbo leeches at night with light up bobbers. We catch our biggest walleyes of the year this way, along with lots of eaters.

    The side imaging content is great! You could definitely do a video series on what you look for with side/down imaging (probably by species even). Crappies/cribs, walleyes/weed lines that kind of thing! You probably even have some lakes with musky densities high enough to try and sharp shoot musk's with SI that would be awesome!! Anyway love the vids and watch them every time you post!! I miss living up there so I definitely don't miss a video!! Keep er movin!!

    Hey Tom Boley, big fan of your videos!
    I don’t want you to give up too many secrets but do you have any advice for walleye fishing from shore up in northern wisconsin.
    I See ya in Hayward a lot (won’t say which lake) when your making videos but where I’m at I notice sometimes when things are too hot on some lakes where walleyes are abundant or common they move up into small creeks where the water is cooler to catch bait as it floats in front of them.
    Wondering if you’d talk more about this especially where walleyes are as abundant as they are in your area!
    Tight lines!

    I often will have the walleye just let go of the bait when I use an octopus hook. Even when I have them all the way to the boat. It's like they just let go. I use a truturn and no more issues. Rather have the short shank hook, but can't have them constantly getting off.

    I'm noticing the Yamaha too. I am particularly interested in the performance info of the 90 HO. And I would love to talk to you about how it differs from the Evinrude.
    Can you expand on the motor switch and your experience with all three, if not all three, especially the yammie HO vs Etech.

    • @TomBoley
      @TomBoley  5 років тому

      So the Yamaha is my friend mitch's boat. I have a suzuki on mine. Which is currently in the shop after 100hrs of use. Not good. The difference as far as performance from an etec to a Yamaha is pretty minimal. Which says a lot as Yamaha is a 4stroke. That being said the Yamaha is much quieter. And feels much smoother while operating. The suzuki is quieter than both. And smoother than both. However it is not as snappy as a sho or the etec.

    Interesting, so u set your depth with that swivel setup pretty much. If u wanna go deeper u have to tie on some longer line on that swivel. Or shorter depending.

    Good informational video and I agree with a lot of the tips. Too bad MN still finds it funny to only allow 1 line per angler in open water so it’ll be hard to cover slipfloat fishing as efficiently.
