I am so happy to say that on New Year's Eve I gifted your wonderful candle to my wife to celebrate the year past and the year ahead. She thought it lovely, elegant, and beautiful in thought and design and sent a photo of it out on her social media. My best to you from wintry and snowy Canada.

Also, to have candles and tea lights burn 25-30% longer, light the candle, wait a few minutes until a small puddle of wax has formed, then with a teaspoon, add 1/2 a teaspoon of salt all around the flame-outside of the puddle of wax. A great way to save money on candles.
This really works! 'Til later! 🌷🌷🌷

I always feel so melancholy when it's time to take Christmas down. I do however leave a nativity up year round, simply because it's beautiful and an interesting topic of conversation due to how unique it is. I also love to start of the new year with clean and organized rooms.

Happy New Year, Nicolas and friends. I always change the batteries in my tv remotes, sensor alarms, and check all outdoor lighting. It’s part of taking down Christmas decorations, inside and out. I clean my pantry thoroughly: remove everything, clean shelves, check dates, clean canisters, etc. if I didn’t consume something, like a jar of tahini🙄, I toss it. Same for freezer. Use any frozen foods ASAP, then replenish and mark dates on everything. Love a clean, organized January! Have a good one. Blessings.

Lovely video; thank you for relaxing and beautiful content. A cleaning tip shared with me by my mother is use of toilet bowl cleaner for the grout in shower. Apply, and leave on as long as you like. The darker grout may need longer sitting time. Use a scrub brush if needed and then rinse. Its been a life changer!

Sooner or later all artificial trees will wind-up in landfills, since they are not recyclable. I've put up a real tree all my life (I'm 66) and yes, it's a pain to clean-up. I've always used a solution of water, bleach, and sugar, and my trees are often still quite supple after a month. I made the mistake this year of using thick, non-spill bleach, and the polymers prevented the tree from absorbing water. Live and learn. A cleaning tip: I use a 3 inch wide paint brush for dusting, which is particularly useful with objects that have lots of nooks and crannies, and the edges of books. Happy New Year from Michigan.

Household Tip: When you have decided to replace a major appliance (one which needs installation, like a stove) do NOT let the scrubbing and cleaning go, thinking 'I will be getting a new one next month why bother'. A plague will hit the planet, tradesmen will not be able to install the new stove and your life will be a nightmare trying to do the cleaning which was easy enough when you kept up to date with it! LOL!
Thank you for the video! Have a lovely week!

I have a cleaning tip for outside to clean the algae off of wood decks, paving stones or concrete. White vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray it on and leave it for a few days. The green will be gone with no power washing or scrubbing.
To clean copper pots use salt and half a lemon to scrub them clean.

When we bought our stainless steel appliances at a big box store, they told me to use WD-40 to keep fingerprints away. I have been doing this for 15 years and it works well, but I must say, your tip to use baby oil certainly would work in the same way and I'm sure, smells much better. I am going to give this a try. I have an artificial tree & can put it up earlier & when taken down on 12th night doesn’t have all the fallen pine needles. You can buy scented sticks to pop inside the tree to make it smell nice. They can be expensive but will be an investment for the years to come. Dedicated bauble boxes are great as you can get rid of all the excess packaging & makes it easier to put up & take down decorations.

There’s only one cleaning tip that I know of that works. If you have a bottle that was housing some kind of oil and now it’s empty and you want to clean the inside, mix sodium bicarbonate with isopropyl alcohol, replace lid and shake a little. Immediately open since there will be pressure build up and replace cap. Then vigorously shake bottle. Then pour out contents give a second cleaning with dish soap and hot water. Should be pretty clean 😊

Nicholas, I am just having a coffee break from putting away all my decorations. I decided to buy an artificial tree this year to place in my family room. What a difference in clean up. I was an avid real tree buyer. I bought it as there was a shortage of trees and the type of tree I usually get were very expensive this year. They were asking between 150 to 250 Canadian. So took the plunge. No regrets. I use pledge furniture cleaner for my stainless for years.

The best cleaner for stainless steel is a spray foam from 3M. One can lasts about couple of years or more depending on how many appliances you have. Spray and wipe clean with a paper towel. It cleans and leaves a film that protects against fingerprint marks.

Nicolas since you like planting spring bulbs you may want to try planting a couple of pots of ‘bulb lasagna’ and put it in your little garden. It’s too late for this year but you can do it in the fall for next spring. Bulb lasagna is where you plant Tulip, daffodil, hyacinth and crocus bulbs in layers in one pot. Do a UA-cam search for bulb lasagna and you can find many ‘how to’ videos ☺️

    Happy New Year! Interesting video!
Since you asked for a cleaning tip: when I want to clean the windows I use water with a drop of kitchen liquid soap and one-two spoons of white vinegar. I clean them dumping a cloth in it and then dry them with a dry one. It is fast and easy and when it rains the water leaves no trace on my windows.
The same mixture I use to dust and clean my furniture and objects. I believe it keeps the dust away more than a dry cloth

As I listen to you reflect on your possible transition to an artificial tree, I hear my own thoughts when I made the decision. You and I have so much in common regarding the need to keep traditions and have beauty around us. For the third year, I have enjoyed the convenience and less clean-up of an artificial tree; in fact, I bought two (6.5 and 7.5) for the living room. I researched and found ones that I love, and I have had a couple of guests ask whether it was a live tree. The trick is the lighting and your most treasured ornaments. Should you decide to make that transition, you will be glad you did for all the hassle you will avoid in the future. I love your channel. It's as though I have someone with whom I can discuss decorating and style topics on demand.

After ruining my hardwood floors under my real tree, because water leaked and I didn't know it, I switched to artificial trees. Oregon, where I live, supplies the greatest percentage of real trees in the US, but I am now happy with artificial ones. I use fresh greenery around the house for the beautiful scent.
I think you'll be happy with artificial. There are some really beautiful ones

My candle arrived today, all the way to the US. It was well packaged for transport and came undamaged. The design is high quality and the scent complex and beautiful. It captures the image of an English garden perfectly. It’s a lovely combination of fresh, herbal, and floral. The shipping cost to the US was a bit of a shock when I ordered, but it’s definitely less expensive than traveling to England to smell the gardens in person. The quality is worth the cost in my opinion. Nicolas, I hope you continue to develop additional household products. A tea service would be nice addition to your brand.

The baby oil tip is great & I’ll be trying that luscious lemon recipe! Two things I’d like to hopefully helpfully mention😉- my friend’s cat became ill from innocently drinking the Christmas tree water, (another reason for an artificial tree if anyone has pets) & also, clay pots/saucers are porous thus moisture can potentially mar our lovely book jackets - it happened to one of my books so pls be careful - I hadn’t overwatered but the saucer did absorb a bit of water.

    Hi Nicholas!
Microfiber cleaning cloths work like magic, to restore and freshen up Upholstered furniture. You will be amazed at how the fibers get into the fabric, and make it appear like new.
    This also works on clothing.
    They brush up suede jackets,
clean tennis shoes, and can save a trip to the dry cleaners if there's a spot of dried sauce or food. Hope you will try using
Microfiber cleaning cloths and the good thing is, that when dirty, just toss them in the laundry with a small amount of bleach.
As always, a pleasure to watch video. Best wishes for a happy and Successful 2022! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟♥️🍀🇺🇸🎉🎉🎉

But I was careful to pick the most realistic looking tree possible realizing that this would be "The Tree" for years to come. My advice is to buy early and don't skimp on the price, and you will be happier.

As an alternative to having a Christmas tree inside, I have put up a balsam fir wreath decorated with ornaments, ribbon and lights above the mantle. It's tastefully decorated, adds a seasonal mood and aroma yet does not crowd a room full of holiday revelers. It's only left up for a few days as it would dry out quickly but mounted with the green florist sponge does extend its useful period a bit. A swag or wreath on your outside fencing area would complement this decorating style and create that sense of a holiday welcome as well. I have moved the inside wreath to such an area just after Christmas to extend the life of the wreath in January. Just a few decorating tips that I enjoy using some years depending on my mood. If you plan to travel during the holiday season, this approach is helpful since cleaning up is quick and you can enjoy your post holiday getaway with less effort at home.

We tried an artificial tree one year, long ago.
It wasn’t the same and the next year we were getting a real one again.
Every year I have the debate, real or artificial. Inevitably, we get a real one from a neighbouring tree farm with our son and his kids. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Love your style! Thanks for the video. It helped make my day. 🥰

I was so happy to see you today! 🥰. After the tree is down, I say where are the daffodils and crocuses! I had forgotten about the baby oil, which I used several years ago. Thanks for reminding me. Look forward to seeing you soon.

Hi Nicolas! I can relate to the tips you gave and certainly can identify with all of them! Although, everything seems so "elementary" to me now (age thing) I am still learning new things! The tip of putting lights into a basket and bringing Spring bulbs to vibrate Spring are novel ideas! Take it from me, switching to a "faux" Christmas tree is good thing! I learned that early on...and they are just as beautiful! Btw, don't sweat the leaves blowing in your courtyard...from my perspective it is a connection to Mother Nature. I can see your Courtyard developing into a "sanctuary" of garden splendor irregardless of the leaves! Sending you warm wishes for the New Year!!

Isn’t there some sort of beautiful blocking material you can place up top? Like beautiful dried wreaths sticks woven through all of your banisters about a foot and a half high off of the ground. So that way it would be like a beautiful aesthetically pleasing decoration. But also multi functional as to blocking the leaves from blowing down into your courtyard.

I have a tip about your bouquet. Daffodils excrete an enzyme that will hasten the decline of other flowers (especially bulb plant) if placed in the same vase.

I use baby oil to clean and restore the dashboard of my car. It makes it conditioned and it smells great too. I put it on the ends of my dry hair and rub it in before I wash it. Softens it and makes it more manageable. I use it on wood items I use outside here in Florida to keep it from drying out. Great for removing my makeup too.

A good quality artificial tree is a good idea Nicolas. Just one word of warning about pre-lit trees. If one section stops working it is a major pain to try fixing it. Stringing your own lights on it would be a better idea. Also, the faux trees are cumbersome to store. Very therapeutic seeing Christmas put away and everything put back in place. Happy New Year 🥳 🙏🏻❤️

Happy New Year…I just stumbled across your channel a few months ago and I get so much enjoyment from your videos. Last night I watched a video from last year… you were cleaning up your apartment and gave a wonderful little trick to polish stainless steel….with baby oil… I tried it today and the results were amazing. All my appliances are stainless steel. I live in South Florida where the water is “hard” which leaves streaks and marks. The baby oil completely erased all the marks… so simple! Thank you!

Happy New Year from Ireland Nicholas. Great to see you back after the Christmas Season. It was so relaxing watching you get your home back to normal. We took our tree down today.. it was sad but now that it’s done it’s not so bad. I was gifted the cake stand from the Christmas Villeroy and Boch collection, I’ll treasure it. Best of luck with the year ahead. Looking forward to joining you every Friday in 2022. All the best. Tomás

I enjoy your video clips about the gracious way of life. Your decor and home ambiance is so soothing and comforting. As much as live trees are a tradition, Artificial Christmas trees are a better choice for holiday decorations. You can always utilize live tree branches and clippings in various ways to add a bit of that live evergreen touch and aroma that makes having a Christmas tree in the home so special. Also, with battery powered holiday lights, having wreath and evergreen arrangements in places were there is no electrical outlets are made much easier and convenient. Thanks again for your presentations. All the best to you in 2022!

Greetings from Leipzig and I wish you all good fortune in 2022. With all those lovely books, some should be on show. I have a number of book rests on which I place large books, similar to yours, open, showing the wonderful illustrations. Then, whenever the mood takes me, I change them and have new pictures on show that are a joy to see and that change the mood of the room.

I live in a desert climate. Trees are dry before you can even get them home and by Christmas you’re afraid to have the lights on. My artificial tree lets me keep the lights on many happy hours without worry of burning the house down.
