yes i went to that museum as well sadly they have shut there doors i went one of the last days took my holden commodore there my favorites where the concept cars so cool
I was the photographer you were talking to there, (You can see me in the Keep It Reet shirt in the background a couple of times) Wanted to say how nice it was to meet you guys there, and to say thanks for pointing me towards some of the other museums in NSW, Forbes especially. Hope to catch you again sometime!
2:34 Yes I believed that myself (ie that Australia only made cars for Australia), but was surprised to learn that quite a few did go to South Africa and quite a few number went to Thailand and other countries in Asia as Taxis ooh and there are some rumored to have gone to Greece for some reason... (Maybe because Cyprus is British colony...?) Ooh and of course very few did go to Japan as top luxury car (ie the Holden Premier had Rotary engine and was sold under Mazda badge), but I guess they were too big and un economical...
Holdens were assembled in Indonesia as well. You can often see YT posts from Holden owners in Indonesia. Overtime Holdens were sent to about 60 ? Countries wearing various badges. Usually places with bad roads or hot climates. I hope some of those from the 60s survive, but I doubt it.
Australia did indeed export Holden models to other countries in relatively small quantities and also left hand drive and also badged as Holdens and not Chevrolet or Pontiac as in the later Commodore models to the USA and also left hand drive Holden Toranas to some smaller Pacific nations, we even Exported Holdens to the USA! Well technically anyway, maybe not to the USA Mainland but we did to Hawaii back in the early 1960’s with left hand drive FB Holdens
Apparently the four door A9X car 20 was driven in ‘79 Bathurst practice with Wigston O’Brien top of the windscreen and the two door A9X car 21 was raced with O’Brien Wigston top of the windscreen.
@@WastelandFirebirdhi wasteland firebird how are you doing today mate i am working at Mercedes Benz dealership in Ballarat Victoria tomorrow from Holdenmantc
Did you go to the Mighty Murray River to see the Port of Echuca, and go on the Paddle Steamers. Its how things were transported long ago. All the Rivers Run, was filmed there
Hey Hey Birdo Gang! Thank you so much for watching! We’re driving back home today from Gundagai after filming at the Chryslers on the Murray event. Next weekend we’ll be at the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival!
Ahhh mate welcome to the MR2 snooze club. Had to sleep in my 89 aw11 once. Ran out of fuel between Brisbane and Kingaroy late one June Friday night bake in 2004 trying to get back to see my parents for the weekend. A very cramped cold night in SE QLD back before P platers couldn't drive supercharged cars. Lol
At 2:35 , the Holden exports not well documented that i can find easily , but this is one from around 1961 : ua-cam.com/video/vASNxGHGmT8/v-deo.htmlsi=8QeRuM1yRVfZY1Zo Hawaii on the map, but not sure they caught on too well there early on.
What's funny is ford Australia was actually more Australian than Holden ever has been yeah we got the falcon from the state's at the start however ford aus was actually designed, built with pride
Yep; from the very start of GMH until the VE, Holden had never truly designed their own vehicle, everything was badge engineered from Vauxhall, Opel, Isuzu, Pontiac et al.
A latter brief Holden export vid with some coverage after the sixties : ua-cam.com/video/nLeMNlcj994/v-deo.htmlsi=jSUSvkXm5kRtr4-H Lots to Saudi Arabia and similar badged as Chevrolet cars. Prized there since they could be left all day with the engine and air conditioning running to counter the heat of parking lot sunshine. Cheap fuel and cars to them.

Thanks for showing the Museum Firebird & Madskelly. I hope I can get down there before it closes. Doubt it.

Not to forget the substantial numbers of Holdens and Aussie Fords sold in New Zealand - both assembled in NZ and later imported.
Oh wow, where were they imported...? Also South Africa and Thailand?
Thanks for telling me that!@@simonwood6932

Thanks for the video and for those that are unable to visit it!
Create value! :)
I've been there twice
Thanks for tour 👍 I couldn’t find anything on that 4 door Phillips Torana either . I can find a 2 door painted the same but with the number 21 on it.
Apparently the four door A9X car 20 was driven in ‘79 Bathurst practice with Wigston O’Brien top of the windscreen and the two door A9X car 21 was raced with O’Brien Wigston top of the windscreen.
That makes sense, I found the 2-door #21 video too.

I would like to purchase a pair of those funny glasses ? I’ll need them shipped back to Pennsylvania; in the states.
If you email me your address I can send you a wacky package

how were they more Australian?
Here we go again. Yawn.
Sure. Ford is more better. You sold me.
ffs and Chrysler was the most American style car built in Australia except for the Charger

That's a shame. Stopped by there in 2020. Beautiful FC Ute stood out for me.
