I think the Kiloton sounds 'cleaner'; my favourite tone out of the three....and this is coming from a person who has always loved that 'Nard Edwards sound :)
Fingerstyle: Slight differences in tone, but it's a tie, really Pick: Kiloton wins it, better balance between bass, mids and treble. The Fret King sounds flabby; the Stingray lacks low end and sounds buzzy. Slap: The Stingray's high end wins the day, a lot has to do with how the bassline meshes with the kick in the drum track, they complement each other extra well.
Pre-EB 2 band Rays have that classic, midrangey, throaty trademark tone that the other two can't touch, if that's what you're going for. (Even 3 band EB Rays can't touch it). The Kiloton is a nice balance between Ray and P tones, IMO, as it's not as throaty as a Ray but has that beefier P tone mixed in.
I own a Kiloton, my impression is that it sounds like a "pure string" but without any character. Also there is a certain uncomfy "hardness" in the way the transients attack. I used to have a Stingray and it sounded too Hifi / precompressed at the time, but now I wish I had one again.
The Kiloton is one of my dream basses because it has a MM style pickup, but strictly passive and with a Preci style body. Best of all worlds.
blackberryblossom / CARE MACHINE Agreed, I wanna get that flea bass tone!
This video deserves WAY MORE VIEWS. Brilliant method of comparison here!
Kiloton slays.
Sounds like the strings are dead or tone is rolled off on the Kiloton.
All 3 sound good but I have hot nuts for the g&l
KILOTON .

Kiloton best tone.
Kiloton for me.
The Kiloton has a certain gravitas to it.
Fret king in this video be like: a friend invited me over xd
Kiloton has that same body as the Stingray but with a Precision bass style pickguard.
Actually that’s not true. The MFD humbucker is quite different from the alnico pickup on a P bass
Pickguard or pickup.

G&L by a mile
Nice....Thanks for sharing
Weird.. the MM sounds wonky on the pick but I bet it translates great in a mix. The king sounds like it plays really nice
I'll take the MM myself, has much more of a clear tone than the others.
Kiloton wins all day
Great video
Stingray has a unique character!

The kiloton takes it.

Music man all the way
First a Sting ray
second a Kiloton
G&L
Fret King sits best in the mix.
MM
MM from me
Every sound on each model did not sound good. Flat, DULL, No dynamics, no groove
Stingray kills. Not even close. People’s comments are hilarious
