I love Atlantics, chased after buying one for years, never any luck, so ive ended up with 4 Metropolitans, again something a little different

It's a lovely video and beautifully presented. But there are aspects where the script is simply wrong. For example there is nothing remarkable about the car. Well in 1948 most people could only buy sidevalves attached to a basic 3 speed gearbox. This car had a 2.7 litre overhead valve engine with modern shell bearings attached to a 4 speed gearbox. Hydraulic electric power roof and windows! A 95 mph top speed and stunning Art Deco Futurist styling. The brilliant engine lived on in the Healey raced at Le mans and in fact out sold the Jaguar XK120! Even the Atlantic sold nearly as many cars as the XK120!
The often repeated line that there are only about 30 left is simply wrong. There would be very close to 30 good running cars here in Australia alone that I can think of. In addition there are numerous under restoration. So world wide the number is vastly greater. Admittedly the UK won't have been as kind to the Atlantic as the majority will have rusted away.
Today they are much loved. Wonderful to drive and people love to see them.
    A rare and desirable classic.
A very good car to restore especially if you can weld.

I'm not following your logic, you say there's nothing remarkable about the car, then go on to a long list of noteworthy things about the car compared to the average vehicle of that period.

@@pchurchillPerhaps he didn't actually listen to Nicky! I My Atlantic is certainly adored today when we take her out. And she keeps up with modern traffic with ease. Indeed cruising at 70 mph for a car that's now over 72 years old is impressive. In terms of rust the Atlantic's had 2 specific problem areas. The door bottoms and inner sills. The rest in fact generally is very good.
It is a great pity that journalists repeat false information for decades without actually doing proper objective research. Nevertheless I still like the period review. It's an interesting bit of history in its own right. And still vastly better than what followed.

I remember seeing one in Burnley in the early 60’s.
How different and better was that than today’s rubbish BBC’s politically correct Top Gear.
