- Decorating for Christmas 2020! This year I'm adding red to my Christmas decor and the theme is candy canes. Decorate with me as I make my own version of a DIY Christmas ornament arch that I saw on TikTok (which, by the way, has hundreds of Christmas decoration ideas). I shopped at Target, Home Goods, At Home, and Walmart for the supplies. I had to buy so many ornaments to achieve this look, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

We did before Thanksgiving which to quick but we do have more then 20 present under the tree 🎄
We still use real candy canes. I would love with my mama would get the blueberry ones, or the yellow lemonhead kind

I loving the peppermint theme.. very popular this year! I went with a rose gold /pink theme!

Me too! I’ve had that theme for the past two years but I’m highly considering switching up next year.
I wanted that theme so bad but my young kids won’t let me be great!

One thing I learned as a child is always put your cotton or tree skirt down first in case you drop something breakable. Also, back in the 70's, a department store which I loved did the cluster balls on their beautiful trees in the center of the store so I came home and used wire to do it on my tree. It was very different and unusual for that time. I like your decorating very much and think you have a great talent and beautiful home!! Love the cat too.
Omg I still do that. I put a blanket down on the floor to break the fall of my handblown ornaments.

The lights before the garland, not only for the light to shine through but to hide the electrical cord. The 3 ornament cluster look fabulous. You should do that on your tree too. First add the single ones and then fill in gaps throughout

I LOVE how you used things from a variety of places and brought it all together!
Suggestion- if you can afford to buy at once-over purchase-double or triple decor/lights/garland/bulbs that you think you need-at one time-then after decorate, return what you dont use! This helps with the number of trips to store😁. LOVE LOVE the arch!!! It all looks wonderful!!

We never had the variety to choose lol. We just threw up Christmas on the tree and had a multi colored star. The only tradition we kept was that each child, when they’re old enough, makes their own ornament to put on the tree. Mine got destroyed in Katrina but we kept the tradition with my nieces
