Tips that made my cosplay wig styling way easier: 1. Get 2 of those velcroed arm/leg work out weights and make a "necklace" for the mannequin head of them. It'll help it to stay still on any surface. 2. Use a sewing pin and poke it throught the wig cap to the mannequin head. It stays put that way when styling. 3. Definitely buy a comb, especially the ones with a long tail to separate sections. 4. Those pins that don't make wrinkles, just keep the hairs put. Super handy. 5. The wig is plastic so don't be afraid to use actual glue to style it. With spikes I've shaved the wig, saved some strands for "camouflage" purposes, made cones out of foam, glued wig hair on them and glued/sewn the foam-spikes on the wig cap again. Then used a hairsrpay or dialuted glue to cover the spikes with the hair that I left on the wig. 6. A good hairspray holds weirdly well a short hair like that. It just requires lot of guts and luck to make it set the way you want to, not set on your fingers and glue your hand in the wig while styling and tbh you have one go per a spike or you have to comb it out.... sometimes I wonder why I call this pain my hobby xD EDIT: 7. When cutting a wig, always chop either angularly or directly against the strands. Cutting it accross like you did will create blunt edges and it is very difficult to style it from there.

Hey moriah. If you end up needing to style wigs again there's actually a type of glue you can buy that's used for hair styling. It's called got to be glued and it's sold at most placed that sell hair styling and cleaning products. I personally used it when I was younger. I used to wear a short pixie cut and it was literally the only way I could spike the back of my hair

During a performance of Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” for a theatre course in college, I had to wear a full face of white, porcelain doll-esque makeup as Nora. During the final monologue where she explains that she’s leaving Torvald, my group decided that it would be symbolic and totally cool to have a “Mulan moment” where I take out a cloth (makeup wipe) and remove at least one half of the face of makeup. We didn’t rehearse with the full makeup before performing, though, due to scheduling issues. When it came down to the performance for class, I just ended up hastily smearing the makeup on my left side while delivering my monologue and doing the blocking which included gathering a bunch of luggage, removing my ring and handing it to the other actor. The thought was there, but the execution didn’t quite work out. Apparently I played it well, though, because we still got bonus points for leaning into the highly symbolic nature of Ibsen’s plays.
