Honestly this song always chokes me up. The metaphor of love and aging as a landslide in winter is just poetic perfection particularly in the way Stevie sings it as a meditation on life.
Biss, fyi autotune only came available in 1999 so any song recorded before then does not have it. So what you hear on the studio recordings is their actual voice, so you needn't go, only for live preformances, to hear their unaided voice. Love your reactions.
@jessieball6195 I'm sorry but I disagree. If you're doing a reaction, you want the truest representation of what a band can do. Studio recordings are cleaned up and adjusted. So in the case of a reaction , live is better.
Stevie Nicks is a treasure. She has a magnificent rasp in her voice that gives me the feeling that she is an old soul, full of wisdom. This song and "Edge of Seventeen" are probably my favorites.
This song came out when I was a teenager. I'm now in my 60's and the pure magic of this song is no matter what age I have been the lyrics have fit throughout my life. Lyrical Gold
The studio recording of "Landslide" can be found on the album entitled, "Fleetwood Mac", released in 1975. Fleetwood Mac's music would be a great rabbit hole for you to explore. They were a legendary band that had a late 60s and early 70s origin. Stevie Nicks was part of the 1975 - on version of the group. Their follow-up album, "Rumours", was released in 1977. It was certified 20X multi-Platinum, which is higher than a Gold rating. The album boasted several hits, penned by their keyboard player, the late Christine McVie. Her hits are instantly recognizable.
You feel this song in you soul. I think about lost love ones whenever I hear it. It makes you feel both happy and sad at the same time. Not many 50 year old songs can do that. Beautiful voice, beautiful song.

My favorite Stevie Nicks song about her relationship with Lindsey. It is so poignant, beautiful and soothing though the story is sad yet inspiring. Came out in 1975, the year I graduated from high school and it still makes me smile, reflect and yes, sometimes shed a tear. We love you Stevie.
@@rossdownes4240 Stevie wrote this months before she joined Fleetwood Mac. And it's not really about her relationship with Lindsey. She wrote this in Aspen considering her life and her future and thinking about whether to continue in the music industry or go back to school.
Oh, mirror in the sky What is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life? Well, I've been afraid of changin' 'Cause I've built my life around you But time makes you bolder Even children get older And I'm getting older too
This was my friend's favorite song. We lost her about 5 years ago to cancer. The song reminds me of her and the years we spent together growing up. She was a special person and so is the song
Along side a handful of other songs, this is the kind of song that belongs in the Smithsonian as a quintessential example of brilliant song writing. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it, music is a magical thing.

Hello 👋 Miss Bisscute !!! In Honor of the Halloween Holiday 🎃 Here are a Coupe song suggestions for you to consider 1) Donovan ( Season of the Witch ) 2) Rockwell ( Somebody's Watching Me ) 3) Lita Ford / Ozzy Osborne ( Close your Eyes ) 👀 As always the like button 🔳 has been Illuminated 😊
Miss Bisscute we know very well you prefer react to live performances, this was a great choice and I loved your reaction as usual❤❤❤❤. But for The next Time please react to the song: stop dragging my heart official video performed by Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty, you will love It
This song has been covered a lot, but one of the most famous covers was from The Dixie Chicks in the early 2000s, who were a country band from the 90s on, and it sounds great with Natalie Maines singing it. I guess they're still around, but they dropped the "Dixie" from their name a few years ago, I guess for political reasons, and are now just "The Chicks". I know you don't like this kind of talk, but just for reference, so you understand, they took a lot of crap for opposing the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and people protested by burning their CDs. Although, I don't know if you've ever tried to burn a CD, but they don't burn very well. As far as dropping the Dixie, "Dixie" is an old word in the US that's a nickname for the SouthEastern American States, aka The Old South, that were the States that made up the Confederacy in the American Civil War, and there are still associations between that and racism and modern day right wing politics, that I guess they wanted to be clear that they are not associated with, what with all the political nonsense we have going on over here right now.
She did performances with the country group Lady Antebellum on a tv show called "Crossroads". The show has a country artist or group and a pop or rock artist perform each others songs. Might be worth checking out if you want to.
Gorgeous and heart-wrenching song and performance. Loved your reaction to it and this is definitely one that takes on more and more meaning as I get older.
This is a more recent recording by Stevie with Waddy Wachtel on guitar. Waddy has been playing with Stevie going back to Buckingham-Nicks when she first recorded "Edge of Seventeen."
Some performers sound better alive than others, but I do really enjoy a good life performance, there’s a lot of good ones out there keep doing what you’re doing, you’re doing wonderfully
There's another live version where she's accompanied by Lindsay Buckingham whom she wrote the song about. I prefer that version. She glances over at him throughout the performance.
Not all acts sound as good live, but Stevie is among the best I've personally seen. Got to see her with Fleetwood Mac about 8 to 10 years ago, and it was amazing.
I suspect the reason people strongly prefer the original studio version (at least on some songs) is because that is what they grew up with, it's the version that they have heard so many times that it's encoded in their synapses. It is only in recent times that many of the live versions of old songs have become widely available, due to things like 30th, 40th and now 50th anniversary reissues of classic albums, where bonus live content is included. Sometimes the live versions are great, but often they don't live up to the original studio version, for one reason or another. And the people who love these songs want you to experience the best version, the one they know by heart, the version that is practically a part of them 😉 So in those cases, where an original studio version is requested, it might be a good idea to listen to the recommended version first, so you get the original experience, and then try the live version for a side by side comparison. You might then see (or hear, as the case may be) why it is that sometimes people recommend the original so strongly 👍😎
Land slide is Way Awesome song - when ever I hear it when changing stations - I Always stop and rewind it a couple of times to listen and sing to it - however Belladonna is my favorite song of hers 😊😊
She's still touring ...so that's closer to 50 years in the business .. and still going strong.... By the way , you just 'put yourself in' ...if everyone sings where you're from ...let's hear it ....come on Bis...
Also, this song first appeared on Fleetwood Mac's album titled 'Fleetwood Mac' in 1975. The live version you are listening to is from 2008. You can be sure that no matter how good it sounded in 2008, it sounds different than when she sang it over 3 decades earlier, with the original band members playing the instruments 👍
When you say She could do country, Buckingham/Nicks were a West Coast Folk Pop duo before joining Fleetwood Mac and the West Coast sound had elements of country and folk music in it, the Eagles were a prime example of this.
Stevie Nicks what great singer her voice is so unique probably best known with the great band fleetwood mac she's been singing for a long time now and still sounds great. Dreams i think is still one of her best songs.Another great reaction Biss.❤
She closes her shows with this song as a tribute to Christine McVie as a video montage plays behind her - but she doesn't turn around because she says she would break down in tears if she did.
I prefer live too since it's a lot more organic and you're getting something that hasn't been tweaked by the sound board in the studio. If a person is a vocalist (like Floor Jansen) that's not a problem - she's a master of her instrument. Other people can just be singers and just sing. Big difference. Do not let your subs dictate the standards of your channel. I appreciate your appreciation of live music.
Besides the awesome Fleetwood Mac song 'Landslide'... the song has also been covered by The Chicks (Dixie Chicks) and The Smashing Pumpkins... Stevie Nicks is 76 yrs old in 2024... the song was first released in 1975 on the self-titled Fleetwood Mac album.
I saw Fleetwood Mac live in Toronto in the early 90s and they didn't miss a beat. Stop dragging my heart around with Tom Petty is fire. Please check out April Wine...Roller extended version 🙏 Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️
From a rock enthusiast, I don't think saying she could do Country is a compliment. Country is good at telling stories and transmitting feelings in the voice is a must, but Rock can have so many variants, the versatility and the potency in the voice require different talents. I once saw an interview where she said she vocalizes for five hours a day (I don't remember if its like Monday to Friday, all week, or what, but I remember the five hours). The interviewer asked "is it really necessary to practice that much?" and she said "If you want your voice to be at its best every time you take a microphone, yes. There is no other way."
This maybe heresy, but I like Smashing Pumpkins' acoustic cover of Landslide, more than the original. IMO, it's in the running for the best cover ever. So Biss, please react to that one too.
Hey Bisscute!😊 Coincidentally, I just saw a 10-minute recent interview on UA-cam from CBS Mornings on Stevie Nicks. Very interesting. She also mentioned about getting pregnant from a famous musician, not Lindsey Buckingham, and the abortion she had in the 70's. Can you guess the big-time musician?
You are my favorite reacter. Some food for thought: While i understand your reason for preferring live performances, i think you are missing the point when people tell you that you should listen to the studio version 1st. the only reason I don't like live performances is that sometimes the band will do a completely different arrangement of the song for a live performance, and it sounds nothing like what I've heard on the radio all my life. for example... Dire Straights did this with "Sultans of Swing". I saw a live video and it had a completely different tempo and sound, and I think even some of the lyrics were different.
I think librarian Biss is my favorite. I'm so used to the Foxes and Fossils version that this sounds a little dreary and lifeless to me. I don't know how old she is here either but her voice is still magnificent even so.
