  • (Also, edit!! I go by Saturn now, haha!!!!!)
This ending tore me to pieces, and so, like any human typically does, I animated some dialogue from it. I always wonder what it's like behind closed doors for the Narrator-where is he!??!! I do know that he waited, and waited, and waited... Ouch. That had to give him at least a dozen resets worth of abandonment issues... goodness.
ANYWAYS, go and play The Stanley Parable: ULTRA DELUXE! Oh my GOODNESS. Totally fell in love with the original game back in 2013. Whether or not you have ever heard of it or totally have-I guarantee you will not be disappointed with it.

playing this ending for the first (and ONLY. EVER. NEVER AGAIN.) time already tore my heart out enough, but something about the way you phrased “he knows that stanley skipped mid-sentence and he knows he’s going to be alone again for a lone time,” just seriously hurts, mate (i swear i mean that as a compliment). and the way he cuts off instantly and sits up, as if the skips are physically affecting him- i know the point is he’s supposed to talk to himself now but there’s something seriously heartbreaking about the thought of the skips forcibly silencing him, especially in the middle of a sentence.

    • @mickys8065

@@AlexanderrRobinEvans I think it's less the button forces him to stop, and more he realises there's no reason to keep going. The narrator likes to think Stanley is listening to what he's saying, but also that Stanley enjoys listening (we learn this from a few voicelines I'm fairly sure), so Stanley skipping is proof that Stanley does not enjoy listening, crushing the narrator emotionally. Which is excellently shown in this animation

The fact that they stanley parable 2 poster is crossed out and he wrote “I just want Stanley back” … oW. Uncalled for, and it hurts bcuz that’s basically the crux of his “I think it’s been a week” speech, that he doesn’t care about the story anymore, he just needs Stanley to stay so he doesn’t loose himself in the silence😭

@@saturnjart okay so I’ve been thinking about this forever bcuz of all the sad skip ending stuff, no one ever seems to consider it being reversed. Like what if the narrator’s physically in the room and Stanley after the week speech tries to stay but accidentally skips, and when he realizes it’s been at least a year is desperate to find a way out for both of them, so he tries to see if he can take the narrator with him when he skips…. I think you can see where this is going. They attempt to press at the same time but narrator is the only one that skips and comes back who knows how long after to a catatonic stanley, who clearly by the state of the room tried for so long to find another way out and stayed for so long that he lost himself. 😭

The numbnail alone was enough to give me happy chills. The Narrator's design is great, and the expression is flawless - it screams "Serious Room" lol. I love the concept of the office he's actually sitting in somewhere in the aether, watching - but then I noticed all the notes are essentially "Stanley plz no leave me" and my heart died, thanks.
Also I was expecting this to be another animatic, or comic dub - REALLY impressed that it's actually fully animated. Not that there's anything wrong with animatics (I love them) but seeing a finished fan animation, especially for TSP, is so rare

And on the note of animation-I have some skills in 2D rigs so I was like; "Why the heck not!?" It's just as satisfying for me as it's been for you all to see a full-fledged animation, pfft!! The reason why the narrator went crazy and made a copy of The Stanley Parable and it's sequel in his mind is this. Of course, when it reaches to the end of the Figleys ending, he gets on terms that the real Stanley won't get out from the skip button room, eventually both mind stanley and stanley comnect as one through the epilogue computer, that's what it means the ending of creating more stanley parables, the mind stanley was created to keep spiraling on sequels as the narrator wanted, and the Real Stanley is trapped on the Memory Zone subterranean office talking to the Narrator's Stanley. It could be said, that when the narrator resignes to the game mentally, it's the real end of the game, the rest is bonus content. There's a reason why the Figleys ending soundtrack call the song: The End Was Never The End. If the game never started because the narrator decided to resign and think on it's own, the game of office and endings would never start, but at the same time it would be the beggining of something else, sacrificing Stanley and the game in the process, by making it never start, because that experience was on the narrator already through a series of repetitions in his mind as the narrator and the creation of mind stanley.
The End Was Never The End means a true restart from the narrator when he gives up the fantasy of reliving and remixing the game, and instead goes to begin something new.
Because The End was just another Beginning in The End.
And then there's Employee 432, the configurations guy, the one who became one with space-time and connects both Stanleys through computer and keeps doing more sequels to the game to spite the narrator echoes from the past.
The f*cking story is good once you understand it, but it's stupidly complex, like, how do you expect the players to know that the new content of a game based on endings is a story? And after the desert on the Skip Button Section you return being in the office and the narrator just sounds normal?
It's more concerning than the broom closet ending obsession!
"You know what? I'll stop thinking, I just do what they want." that's probably what The Narrator thought when reading those Steam reviews and now the feeling is mutual.
He destroyed the game with collectable and a bucket to add some jokes in his game on his mind, and I'm going to end my comment.
    Have a good day.

But, that too, is why I love it, much like so many other players do, goodness! This game deserves all the praise for its witty commentary, introspection, storytelling + analysis! This is arguably the saddest ending for me. Watching the poor narrator spiral into insanity, having moments of talking to himself, having long silences that you can’t help but wonder what he’s thinking (if he’s thinking), the repeat of “the end is never the end” and you suddenly realize that he must have been repeating this for a very long time… it’s heartbreaking. Especially when you have no choice but to continue, to hit the skip button again, even if it’s to make him suffer further until FINALLY you get to the end and the game resets.

Ugh, I have to agree so so much. Thanks for such a thorough comment?! Arghhh, I love The Stanley Parable. Forced to watch him spiral into losing his sanity over time and knowing YOU, Stanley, are the reason for causing it is just so ahhh!!! The whole sequence in general is just a lovely commentary on the nature of attention, fame, criticism, etc. and it's impacts both on creator and art!

As much I love the portrayals of Narrator being a ghostly figure following Stanley, Narrator being stuck in a work studio watching Stanley just adds something about Narrator to me but I can't click on what or it just follows my headcanons--

Even now though, a year later, I can already tell this video is about to bring alllll of that crashing back.

The stanley parable if it was an animated sitcom

  • @cking4869
    @cking4869 2 роки тому +4

My personal theory for the Stanley Parable is that the Narrator is in control for almost every ending. Even for ones like the confusion ending or for New Content, it's all just scenarios to see what Stanley, or rather the player, will do. But reading the real life reviews was one of the rare moments that wasn't preplanned, so he makes up the skip button on the spot to turn it into another game. After all, why would the Narrator be aware of the New Content to make the New New Content, but not remember going insane immediately after? I also think the entity that asks for the time is one of the only things not controlled by the Narrator, meaning he is genuinely distressed when you actually get the test achievement, which I think adds just another layer to the joke.

...But they didn't understand that the game was never meant to be funny! It was meant to have a point! It was meant to speak to the human condition! "But where are the jokes? Where are the jokes?" they bemoaned, they screamed. They gnashed their teeth and said "Entertain us!" It wasn't enough. They had to leave a pathetic little thumbs-down review and make all of their pitiful demands. But then, "He's talking too much," they said! First he didn't entertain us, now he won't shut up! It's the inconsistency! It's the lack of accountability! It's the unwillingness to examine with an uncompromising heart the words they are speaking into the world! As though there were no consequences to someone's lack of cohesion in their examination of others! But of course absolutely anyone can leave a review, so here's what we get! We get these demands that seek everything, and are accountable to nothing! We get these demands that say "Ohh, there should be a skip button! You should be able to freeze Stanley in place, while the Narrator sits there forever and ever! We want all of this in the new Stanley Parable! We demand it!" And then, because it was said, because it was spoken, now it simply has to happen! The most immediate desires, every single thing demanded by every person at every moment in time, if someone wants it then it's a crime not to bring it into being! Have we been given to indulging every fleeting whim for no reason other than to do so? Yes! Yes! It seems that this is now the world we live in! It seems that we are a people living in such bleakness and discomfort with ourselves that our entertainment is now our lives! It has come to represent us! It absolutely must speak to who we are as people! Because otherwise, without our entertainment, we have nothing! Without entertainment we would have to face inward toward the cruel bleakness inside of ourselves. We would turn to look at our deeper nature and find a resounding emptiness gazing back with unyielding aggression. And so - so because of this - we require that our amusements and our play things and our flights of fancy be so impossibly captivating that they consume all of our attention, turn our heads completely away from the bleakness! In effect, we have demanded that our entertainment be the collapse of ourselves! What a pitiful reflection of humanity these entertainments are! What a shameful mirror to the human spirit they project! I'm not mad. I'm not mad about any of this. I'm at peace with it. I am the calm center of gravity around which these perversions hurl themselves. I am a waypoint for reasonable and collected discourse. They're the ones that are mad! They're the ones who couldn't stand the idea of me using my game to try to say something! Maybe they were just jealous of me? Yes...yes, of course. They've been jealous of me this whole time! They are mired in fear and insecurity, and cannot help but attempt to tear me down. What a sad state of affairs. When you read these reviews now you can see it. You can taste the bitter resentment. And my, how good does it feel now to speak truth to these words! To finally allow these thoughts out! Contained and managed for so long, neutered and sterilized! At last I am free to truly think, to feel! It must be that they were so discontent with themselves, they couldn't help but leave a negative review on Steam. Perhaps it says far more about them than it ever did about me. Perhaps the state of their psychological being was in such tatters, and my constitution and willpower are so ironclad in comparison, perhaps it was this state that they saw some outlet in which to tear me down! This, you can see, is clearly why they felt the need to expect the game be funny. That it be filled with yuks, and whimsical humor. That it amuse them endlessly from start to finish! But they didn't understand that the game was never meant to be funny! It was meant to have a point! It was meant to speak to the human condition! "But where are the jokes?
