    I followed these steps today and replaced the seals on my "09 VTX1300C. I also changed the bushings and installed Progressive springs while I was in there. Like other comments, the inside diameter of PVC pipe around here was about .01" or so to small so I cut a piece and split it all the way to about 2" - 3" from the end then honed that remaining portion until the fork tube slid through and the split relaxed it enough so that I could slide it all the way down and tap the upper bushing and seals in place like he shows. I think I watched Part 1 and Part 2 ten times each before I started but it went just like the video. Thanks again Rocco!

    You place the spring in the first Fork that you rebuilt upside down. I didn't see you do the spring on the second Fork because you switch to mediately to securing the top nut in place while it was in the fork holders.

      @@TwoWheelRocco well the fact that the spring has different densities of spring compression would suggest that it would keep it from bottoming out with us more dense spring portion at the bottom. The fact that they have inverted forks suggest that they perform differently four different load levels.

    Great video! Any advice for getting out the bolt at the bottom of the fork assembly if head is stripped out? I did the right side and it worked out ok. The left side bolt at the bottom is super tight and my wrench just started spinning. I will try an extraction, followed by drilling through the head, but am wondering if you have any other tips.

    • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  5 років тому +1

      I would make sure that the #23 damper tube is not spinning inside your fork tube. Take a look, partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/ronnies/showmodel.asp?Type=13&make=hdmc&a=623&b=30&c=0&d=2006%20XL%20SPORTSTER%AE%201200C%20CUSTOM%20(CG)%20SUSPENSION%20-%20FRONT%20FORK%20ASSEMBLY%20W/%20STEERING%20STEM. look at #23 damper tube And then #12 screw. I have taken the tube apart from the top and placed a wedge inside tube so damper tube would not spin. Then if it is stripped then drill. Let us know how it works out.

    how does the speedo gear fit back into the wheel bearing, I took mine apart today and noticed that it has two plastic tabs on the speedo and two metal tabs on the wheel bearing. do they line together, or do they sit in so the plastic tabs catch on the metal tabs on the wheel bearing

      ok that's what I thought, how hard is it to change the wheel bearings and seals? I have a set and I figure I should change them out now too.
      also second question regarding forks, the bottom piston bolt kept spinning when being removed I finally got it out while compressing the fork together, would this be an ok technique to tightening that bolt back up if it keeps spinning ?

      Happy to help. When you extend it out, have a 5 gallon bucket and then hit it in the bucket and that will loosen it. Rotate twist your fork and then extend it again when it gets stuck banging into the bucket that will loosen it , you can put a rag in the bucket, the dampen the hit to the floor and so you don't damage the bucket.and then do it again, until you remove that tube from your fork. Hope that helped. Thank you for watching and all your support wayLonstar. Ride safe. Have a great day.

      Just trying to help Alex, Thank you for watching and your comment. That bike is still rolling around to this day with no abnormal tire wear and she loves that bike. Honda did a great job on it. And you are right the spring should've been the same direction live and learn. Ride safe and have a great day. Thank you for watching and all your support Alex.

      Make sure it all went back together the wright way. You should be able to push tube in with socket and 1/2 extension bar. us fork as a clamp if all is right, It should be the same pressure as the 750. how far is the spacer tube past the top. Let us know how this works out. Thank you for your Sub Nathan. Ride Safe and have a great day.
