According to the 83 honda shadow vt750c manual, the fork spring goes in with the tighter wound end face up not down.

is this for a vt750? reason for asking is because the washer that goes under the seal on mine does not seem to be shaped correctly and is not helping with the reinstallation of the new seal as it will not go in properly could you by any chance show me a picture of the washer you used as i did see it in the video but cant see if it has the same profile as the one mine has.

I wish the author would tell us what year/make/model he is working with but his part # 51447-461-003 at 6:23 closely resembles my 1984 Honda shadow vt700c part # 51447-463-003 so I'm guessing this procedure is good for a wide range of Honda Shadow years. These two part numbers resemble each other but I'm not sure of the millimeter and fitment

Is that the same way to do seals for my 1998 Honda shadow ace 750

Yeah should be almost exactly the same. Check the amount of oil your forks require, but most conventional forks are like this. ONce you do one, they are all the same. :)

Love this video. The autofocus of the camera is a little distracting. Would recommend using a mic but this video is great.

Some aftermarket springs require a pvc pipe to be used as a spacer

I was realy wandering about the pipe being left in? Is this a trick to get a stiffer ride?
