The 2024 Lexus TX Is The BIG 3-Row Luxury SUV We've All Been Asking For
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2024
- Watch out Acura, Lexus is coming for your MDX with the new Lexus TX 350, TX 500h and TX 550h+. Not only is the Lexus TX likely to deliver a whopping 10 inches more legroom than the MDX, it'll have 30% more cargo room and an actual usable 3rd row for adults. Still not enough? It'll have an optional 366 horsepower hybrid system which should make it faster than an MDX to 60 or a 406 horsepower plug in hybrid with legendary Lexus reliability, 30 MPG combined and 33 miles of EV range. Better still? The hybrids don't change the interior space at all so it'll still be as solid choice for big families riding in style. The only bummer? No 8th seat.

Is it me or Grand Highlander looks better on the outside and the inside?
Your not alone
On the outside I could maybe see it but on the inside this looks a lot better to me
@@alwaysiyi272 yeah the interior is much better than the GH
It’s you and me 😅
I will never buy this particular Lexus. If I’m looking for the size, then I would go with the new grand highlighter.
Looks like a Kia Sedona. Grand highlander looks better for sure.
I’m a little disappointed in the exterior styling. I’m not sure I see a lot of premium value in the Lexus over the Grand Highlander.
As a Lexus owner, I think this looks cheap and not a good direction styling wise. The front looks like a Subaru, not a Lexus.
I thought it was a Subaru as well from the thumbnail
If you want an expensive look, go for the LX model.
Or Honda... But they're all looking very similar these days
I thought it was a cylon
Yeah I think the grand highlander looks even better than this. And the interior on the higher or top trim isn’t far behind from this TX
Yep definitely getting grand highlander vibes, the styling is also more Toyota than Lexus. If you switched that front logo I’d be hard pressed to tell if this was a 5th Gen re-design for a highlander
I'm not upset. I'm not part of the target demographic and if it helps Lexus focus on stuff like the GX, that's no bad thing in my mind.
Yeah, it's pretty disappointing. Even the QX60 is more differentiated from the Pathfinder than the TX is from the Grand Highlander.
@@mark_u correct the number of your glasses !!
@@ibrahimbashir6634 don't be a rude dick.
Disappointing for a Lexus Brand!!! I was expecting a much luxury interior. I would go with the Grand Highlander and save 10k to 14K
An F-Sport trim in a vehicle like this is just plain silly.
Do you know the k&n sticker alone increases 10 hp??
That is if you can find one. Went into a Toyota dealership and they said a year wait for the Grand Highlander.
I knew this would be a huge letdown 😂😁
Doesn't look expensive enough from the outside. All the competitions looks unique from their corporate counterpart
Such a shame really. Lexus waited a really long time before entering the segment only to obviously rebadge the Grand Highlander.
I'm not sure the typical Lexus customer demographic really cares much about that aspect.
doesnt look expensive enough 💀💀💀
@@maximusprime437 you must be a Toyota customer not a bmw or Mercedes customer. This looks terrible. People are starting to wake up to Lexus. You get NOTHING when you buy Japanese
The mdx will still outsell it. Clearly low-balling from lexus. The gx 550 will do better
Only reason why MDX is the king of Luxury mid SUV is because the incentives! I remember getting a MY2020, before Covid, for $12k off.
The engine options are definitely interesting, but this barely feels separated from the Grand Highlander.
Edit: upon a second viewing, it is actually nicely understated. Seems like it has enough luxuries while not being ostentatious. They definitely should’ve gone further, but it happens.
What happened to the front? They didn't even try...
When i go to Kirk Kriefiel channel, a lot of toyota fanboys were cheering on of how good this thing looks, but other channels like Alex, it's a disappointment of how lexus did with the GX and TX. Glad i go to a balanced channel.
I don’t watch his channel, but doesn’t he only talk about Japanese cars? That’s like the definition of “bias”
The way something looks is very subjective, personally I think Lexus hit a home run with both. They will easily destroy the competition.
@@smrtguy77777 yeah no it’s not gonna happen
It's just a lightly reskinned Grand Highlander, which sucks. New grille is perhaps the worst in a Lexus. Lexus should just have taken the grille treatment from the LM or LBX.
Agree that front grill looks like a high school prototype. Rectangles? Thats it?
It "sucks"? Why not just go ahead and get what you want then? Pretty sure this is NOT in your price range and obviously you hate Lexus grills (because that's ALL that matters!) Everyone is some kind of expert these days, don't they?
@@Mark-de4hj Just so you know, I love the spindle on the LC, LS, IS, ES, and the non-F Sport RX. Didn't know opinions are illegal nowadays. SORRYYY!!!! 😭 Take your $500 from the nearest Lexus dealership near you 😂
@mark_u Another tiny person with their silly overuse of imojis. Ok, now I've confirmed who I'm dealing with. And that's my point. Everything ( and everyone), seem to think that they are experts on design and innovation these days.
@@Mark-de4hj you really undermine your point when you immediately go ‘you’re too broke to afford this anyway’.
Whoa, that’s quite a styling departure from the corporate spindle grill look.
I saw it and I was wowed that this was a Lexus. It also sounds like they are trying to push a variety of hybrids now instead of just the ecvt version, which I hope continues throughout the lineup for the US.
I remember when car manufacturers had sedan lineups this diverse.
Now they are quickly going extinct along with minivans.
Looks like a generic SUV in a video game. Like something in GTA from the outside
Thats so acurately put, I cannot believe how generic amd uninspiring it look!!
Yeah, it looks like an unfinished Highlander.
Perfect - I want a luxury family suv for my wife that won't attract any attention.
I’d take an MDX over this rebadged Grand Highlander any day. If a cheaper Kia Telluride has a nicer interior and exterior than a Lexus, I’ll take the Kia and sacrifice some reliability. As a side note, I find it interesting they’re gonna offer a V6 with the TX550.
But the MDX and Kia are better than this. Heck even the xt6 qx60 are better.
the MDX gets shit fuel economy though
if the PHEV TX isnt TOO expensive it will make the mdx type s look kinda blegh
@@ShaiyanHossain the TX550h+ will not drive as well as the MDX Type S. That’s not the mission of the TX. Even though the TX550h+ has more power, everything else about the driving dynamics of the Acura will likely kill the Lexus. The Lexus will very likely be more comfortable.
@@naveenthemachine I would get the Lexus over the XT6. XT6 is bottom of the list for sure. It’s most “premium” engine is a naturally aspirated 3.6 and the interior sucks for the price
@@ShaiyanHossain but mpg isnt why you buy a luxury car…
I’m pretty sure Acura is breathing a sigh of relief after seeing the exterior styling on this thing…
Acura genesis Hyundai Kia Mazda Volvo Jeep are all breathing a sigh of relief knowing they they are not threatened
@@naveenthemachine😂😂😂😂😂 pathetic comment. You never even drove or seen one yourself. Jeep, Dodge and etc..
@@is500fsport5 sit inside a grand Cherokee summit and then sit in a Lexus RX or tx and say that again.
Because if you do that comment will bite you in the rear end
And interior as well. I wanted to like this car but there's nothing special about it tbh
horrible front grill design. It is against luxury.
I’ve got to be honest; I don’t see anything particularly luxurious about this vehicle. I drive a Metris, which is absolutely not a luxury vehicle (it’s all hard plastics, which are functionally useful given the way I use it), but even if those are all soft touch materials, i mean, really what does it really offer over the Grand Highlander? Heck, that looks nicer inside. Where’s the wood? The chrome? The special touches?
Sure, its huge. Ok. Get a Sienna! Heck, get a (used I guess) Metris; it amuses me when you talk about some SUV third rows as spacious; they seem like a joke compared to the third row in my van. These are huger. This thing really seems chintzy and drab.
Great first impressions presentation as usual Alex. I love the RX because of its size and sporty looking exterior so glad that Lexus decided to give us a 3 row separately, with this new TX.
I hear you mention the 2 position lumbar control often in your videos but I can tell ya, unless you are a person constantly gaining and losing weight etc., that is enough for most folks. I have had them for many years and rarely need to fidget with it once set. I have never heard anyone complain about not having enough lumbar motion.
Came here for the Grand Highlander comparison comments lol
Toyota really selling a lexus and Toyota version of every vehicle. They are so similar, why even buy the lexus version?
There's no Toyota version of the ls lc or is ...
This has exclusive 3.5l v6 phev
They're not dumb enough to not have exclusives on the Lexus versions lol
@@chibbyylol but soon a Toyota could get this v6 PHEV at some point
Big car 6 seats. I wish they had given the PHEV an 8 seat option. 6 seats would be for a specific family that had just that one more person, that doesn't fit in a 2-row 5 seater. 8 seats would be great when family visits town.
Beats just about every other Lexus on interior passenger space. Rather get this over a RX, GX, or LX just for sheer interior space.
MDX looks better inside and out. I'm glad the MDX looks totally different from the Pilot.
If they just made a XL version of the RX front end it would look so much better. That grill design and smooth front end looks like it’s from the 90s.
Really like how the new RX looks. Would have been better if they just made a new RX-L but this time, with an actual usable third-row
@@mark_u I remember seeing the cutaway “3” row RX-L cutaway at the auto show. I was shocked they went through all that trouble to add an extra 4” to the RX 🤦🏽♂️
@@TobyCostaRica All that additional length on the rear overhang, without increasing the wheelbase. Facepalm worthy indeed 😅
Looks great. I really hope Toyota can bring us the Lexus version of the Sienna (Lexus SX?). That would be a game changer
Lexus LM
@@chezzyperson3339 the LM is smaller than the sienna lol
If this is a final production fact, lack of an available middle row bench with an 8 (or at least 7, which this example would be with a middle bench) seat configuration a miss. It does seem very odd that such a large(r) vehicle would be limited to six. If a middle bench is made available, it should be on all trims.
Whew! Finally we have a "spindle grille" that doesn't hurt my eyes. The interior however, kinda does. YAWN.
I was going to get the MDX until I found out about this vehicle. Um, nope; I will be getting this car!!!
Get the MDX. It’s better than this overweight rav4
I love Lexus, but this does not look good. This TX was just a check box on their lineup. The new GX received all their attention
I think Lexus did the "double feature" launch to somehow mask the lazily rebadged Grand Highlander 😅
That front end spindle grille "evolution" is hideous
I think OEMs know that polarizing styling elements have a net positive effect on sales.
AGREED
TX is a strangely appropriate name for such a large SUV
I was not expecting this to have a PHEV option, but since it does, it's now on my list to check out next year.
I've currently got a Sorento PHEV and will need to upgrade to a larger 3 row with a 3rd row actually usable by adults and more than .25 cu ft of storage when the 3rd row is in use.
90% of my daily driving is in EV mode, plus I already sunk money into getting a L2 charger installed, so PHEV or full EV is at the top of my wish list. Given the paucity of large enough 3 rows that are EV or PHEV, this is now at the top of that very short list. I look forward to seeing the 550h+ specs!
Front is merely meh, but I can live with the rest of the exterior and interior design.
I don’t understand a PHEV with a V6. It should have a small I4. Why would you want to lug around a big engine in EV mode?
@@user-tb7rn1il3qbecause a V6 is reliable especially from Toyota/Lexus.....
I’m a huge Lexus/Toyota fanboy, I’ll quickly admit. However, I’d be remiss to not point out that this car is clearly a rebadged Grand Highlander. Nothing wrong with the GH but if you’re gonna charge more for a premium offering, it should at least come with more features.
I love the look, far better than any current generation.
This F Sport trim doesn’t look that good expensive enough. Here is hoping the luxury trim comes with that cognac leather with some chrome wheels to elevate the look a bit. This is one release I’m keeping a close eye on
It probably won’t. It’ll be just as bad as this😂
I don't hate that front but it does not look like it sits above the RX. The new headlights are scaled up from the LBX and the center intake/ACC radar are borrowed from 23 Prius. The lower grille looks very unthoughtful. They could have applied the same design from the RX or LM. It looks unfinished. You can tell a different design team worked on the TX. Did they not have Grasshopper license to work on the grille? I could be wrong but it seems the doors are identical to the ones from Grand Highlander? Some weird design decisions in this new TX.
Been underwhelmed by the Grand Highlander and CX90. XC90 - at the top of my budget - I just can’t justify due to reliability. This TX as PHEV top of the list now. Great review 👍🏻
No the tx phev will be way overpriced and have huge markups
You’re honestly better off getting any of the competitors.
I think they perfectly nailed the luxury SUV for the masses. I can’t quite understand the comments from others that this doesn’t look luxurious enough or that other competitors. Bring better options to the table. Find a better value in the luxury space for under 75,000.
That’s easy
Telluride palisade MDX grand Cherokee are easy luxury values
And it lacks too many features
Love it...very sleek and blended design...tons of room and some very nice powertrain options...thanks Alex!
Would the premium luxury trim come with massaging seats? I don't understand, their new GX has massaging seats, why omit that from this segment.
Grand Highlander / Lexus TX!
Lexus Texas!
This is going to be perfect for my daily drives, I just could not allow myself to buy a Jeep Wagoneer for $80K everything Dodge Chrysler Jeep has made the last 20 years has been below board for longevity and dependability. I'm still driving my grandmother's 1998 ls400 which I got after she transitioned.
It doesn't look "flashy" like a Lexus; it looks like a nice Toyota.
The back looks like a Nissan Pathfinder 🤣 thanks Alex ❤👍
I still hang on my 2022 Sienna Platinum: roomier, more versatile & still as luxury.
Alex, If you were trying to make the MDX feel bad, you succeeded. 🤣😂
No. If anything the tx makes the MDX look better all day long. It makes the competition look better all day long.
If anything alex didn’t make the MDX feel bad. It’s feeling a lot better with this abomination in existence
I actually like this styling, it’s very different from what we’re used to but I don’t think it looks bad. I do wonder why it is missing the triple beams tho
It looks really nice actually
Looks too much like a highlander
For that money I’d rather have a 4Runner or Tacoma. At the end of the day these are just an extended RAV4.
@@user-tb7rn1il3q pricing hasn’t come out but I won’t be surprised if it is a lot more than a 4Runner plus they don’t really compete with each other, this is designed to fit 6 or 7 people in comfort while the 4Runner is designed for off-road duty
“Luxury” to a price point isn’t what Lexus should be doing. It’s 80’s GM badge engineering back from the dead. This looks like a Toyota with more shiny black plastic on the dash. Can’t imagine those tiny front dash vents will be adequate in the desert or Florida/Texas summers either.
Anyone else think it looks a little.. unfinished? At least from the outside. I actually like the practicality of this vehicle, good spacing, useable 3rd row, etc. but the outside looks like it’s missing a layer of paint 😂
I agree. It's like the designers were were told to put Lexus touches on the Grand Highlander in less than 10 minutes 😅
Finally, a luxury SUV that ticks all the boxes!
The MDX pulls off “large SUV” way better than this. This looks like an unwieldy minivan. The MDX’s proportions are much better.
And it’ll drive and perform better. We don’t even have to drive the tx to make that judgment
What I’ve been waiting for. After two Suburbans since 1999 I’d like something smaller that will still be a great ride for my tall golf foursome, the clubs and luggage for a long weekend golf trip. The empty nester Suburban.
If you take off the Lexus badge you can't tell what it is. Could just be a Toyota
I have long asked myself when a company is going to realize that all they have to do is make a minivan that doesn't have a sliding door. Tah-dah, here it is. This is going to be a mega hit. The styling is a little bland but I think it's going to work!
I like how spindle grille is fading over time
Looks too plasticky. Is this the top end model? What’s happening to Lexus?
The new gx actually looks good but not this tx
Agreed. Lexus is going downhill faster than we expected
Lexus is now the next infiniti
Guys,
You should use de-esser in your audio recordings .it’s hard to listen your audio. De-essing is the process of reducing the volume of sibilance (s's and t's, or “esses”) in a vocal recording. It will improve your audio quality for your videos.
Ask me how I feel about seeing this video after trading my wife’s 2023 RAV4 Prime XSE (One of the Best vehicles in the world) for a CX-90 PHEV and THEN hearing about this…
The CX-90 is beautiful and drives amazing. But we would’ve surely bought this. Surely. We actually waited to make sure that the Grand Highlander wasn’t going to have a PHEV before we bought the 90. It’s fine… we’ll just grab a low mileage version 2 years from now and save a bit….
I’m actually really upset (for my wife…I’m a driver and I LOVE how the CX-90 drives…Way better than our old X7 dynamically)….I just won’t tell her it exists 😂
I'm not really feeling the e all-wheel drive system. I've never liked or felt like that system is capable enough. As far as this particular vehicle is concerned, the interior is a bit underwhelming.@alex which interior do you like better this or the new CX90?
Cx90 wipes the tx inside and out
I see it still has the cap sense door opening buttons that open the door when your knee hits them. Happened twice during a RX test drive.
It looks nice but I like the Toyota grand highlander because it a better valve and more space especially in the front like the passenger shelf and buttons for the AC. And the third row can be two or three passenger. But like those wheels and the exterior of the Lexus. Also the Toyota looks a little bit more rugged.
Disappointing considering that it is named after Texas
Front grill looks cheap for a Lexus, and 2 way lumbar adjustment is cheap. Palisade Calligraphy looks premium by comparison and has more features.
Best reviews on the web! Thank you!!
I really wanted to like the TX but something just doesn’t look right.. But I can’t quite put my finger on it.
What your finger is looking for is the Grand Highlander lol.
It’s the grand highlander.
Go for the Grand Highlander. Skip this rebadge…Toyota got the memo, Lexus phoned-it in 😮
Lexus offerings for SUVs sucked. We just bought a new explorer platinum because it was either a RX(too small), GX(too old, and LX(too expensive) this looks to be just right. Lexus is finally entering the conversation again. The new GX should be a seller.
Your Explorer platinum is way better than the tx 😂
They displayed the wrong color. You can’t really see the curves of the vehicle. Interior is fantastic. This vehicle also has ambient lighting like the new RX, but it is very subtle.
Very odd to not have 4 way lumbar on a Lexus when the new Tacoma offers it for driver AND passenger. Feels like someone from some department in Lexus didn’t get the memo 🥴.
Hoping this means a PHEV Highlander will be possible
Another great video! Keep em coming please. My vote is for the Grand Highlander though
The grille is giving me a War Hammer Titan vibe.
0:06 Lexus Texas!
Interior doesn’t look like premium vehicle, feels like another Highlander
For F sport trim they could have given triple led headlights to make it look sporty.
And add rear seat entertainment option
Lexus LM could fill that 8 seater niche if they add 2 rows of bench seats, or they could re-badge a Sienna XLE Limited.
Great Review! First of all. I love it. Design and size to me are very appealing. This is the one for me!❤
Love seeing your posts. Thanks so much. watching your posts in every single day. love
TX is Texas Edition
Please be sure to discuss the "adaptive variable suspension" that contrasts it with its cousin -- the Toyota Grand Highlander. Your review of the Toyota Crown pointedly had you comment that the ride and handling were vastly better than the Crowns without the adaptive variable suspensions.
Grand Highlander with a Lexus badge.
The Acura MDX has always been a joke.
Pilot had better room than that and now Lexus has brought a new game changer
But driving experience wise the MDX will brutally slaughter the tx
Excellent review.. Very detailed on interior with just the details I wanted to know.
I Don't understand why the Dodge Durango never makes it to your vocabulary of available 7 passengers SUVs. The lower trim Durango is available with a bench seat on the second row and the 3.6 V6 Pentastar AWD has a decent highway mileage and 293Hp (mine used to get 28Mpg with 6 ppl on board). Also it has a 8 speed Auto with paddles & shift select transmission.
Is not a luxury but is also way cheaper and does the job very well.
Why not mentioning it?
He owned a Durango citadel anodized platinum 5.7 AWD and it’s way better than the tx
The GX was a home run, this is just the opposite. Doesn’t look like a Lexus, it looks like a Highlander. The interior looks nice but the exterior is god awful. Give the GX designer a raise and fire the TX designer.
Great job on the thorough walkthrough. This one is definitely going on the list of potential new drives for next year.
I don't like when you mention other cars, but an excellent review.
Acura leases much cheaper than Lexus. MDX isn't going away so fast.
So, swap badges and grill on the Highlander XL and create a new Lexus model? Gotcha
In automotive history, this has to be the era of bloat!
I will wait for the street legal version of the Stryker. Eight wheel drive, 4 wheel steer, 3ft ground clearance, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, chefs kitchen, open veranda…pool…skating rink….yada..yada…
I got to read the pre order documents ( available on the Lexus website) and some good news for you Alex ( also for many of us). Lexus has a trim that they call “ luxury”, it has 4 way lumbar support and extending thigh support. I want the 550H and the luxury trim is included.
Fantastic news for me, they have an option that adds digital rearview mirror. Something that you used to only have on a Cadillac. But now many more vehicles are getting.
So after seeing your video and the pre order documents, I am left with a question. Is Lexus going to do the impossible? Give us Cadillac crossover owners a car that has all of our Cadillac features, but in what is likely a better car and one that is a hybrid car with 30 miles of electric range. Short of a EV, that would be the perfect car.
Yeah basically the TX is sized in between a xt6 and a escalade. Its basically almost the same exact size as a Buick Enclave both interior space wise and exterior dimension wise.
Luxury Grand Highlander?
I think the Pilot is still the best option when it comes to practicality.
A third-row just to have one extra passenger vs Rav4!!
I put a deposit down for a Volvo EX90, but maybe this will be a good alternative. I'm not fully sold on the full electric, yet, and 30 mile electric only range will be just good enough to get me to my work and back.
No stick with the Volvo. The tx is a catastrophic disaster
The grand highlander would be a better option lol
So essentially a Highlander with a Lexus badge. Yay. By the way, Mercedes didn’t copy the two screen layout they had it way before. Toyota and Lexus I’ve always been done for lagging behind in tech.
Finally, some Lexus design language that I like!
This is basically the grand highlander with a lexus badge.
A Toyota with Lexus badges and $10K to $15K over price
Bruh Lexus pretty much just took there Toyota Highlander, changed a few minor details, and then slapped a Lexus badge on it to get this car
