Not all the time though. The firmness of the grip is quite frankly a counter measure to the speed of the return. If you are receiving a shot with high velocity, you want the racquet to absorb the energy and have good control over the return. For that, you'll need a loose grip. If you want to hit a strong return, you'll need to have a firm grip. So yeah, they don't always have a loose grip. Especially with the flick movemt they all have today. The racquet will pop out of their hand everytime, you know.
