    I have fat wide feet and I get the 2E . My feet feel amazing . I can’t really shop at the outlets cuz they usually just have shoes for narrow footed ppl and skinnier folk. Runners High in LBC, Ca has a fit station where they measure ur arch and and stress points while walking . The Arahi 5 was what I landed on. Such an amazing pick up. Definitely the most expensive shoe I’ve purchased. $130 . Amazing pick up

    Great overview of both. We really enjoyed the Arahi 5, one of our favorite recent updates. Besides the upper and outsole update, did they change the midsole in anyway of the Gaviota 3?

    the gaviota 3 felt firmer to me than the arahi. probably due to a higher proportion of high density foam in the gaviota versus the arahi. I'm sticking with arahi, bondi and stinson. so in my opinion the gaviota might be for those wanting a firmer solution. or who have more extreme pronation (?) or are, as mentioned, quite hefty.

    hokas are my goto right now. for many aspects (if not all) it ticks all my boxes. i have a 4e bondi 7. and finally it feels like the perfect shoe size for me. i have some pronation on the right ankle...so it will be interesting to try the arahi/gaviotas. interesting to me but the arahi 5 feels better to me than the cliftons.....so maybe its just a better platform for me. haven't been able to try gaviotas yet.

    • @adamsleath
      @adamsleath 3 роки тому

      i got the arahi 5, and it is very good. i switch in currex high arch insoles. very comfy and stable shoe. the J frame idea actually works. i have the 2E width to give my slightly wider right foot more toe room. while the elf heel counter makes it easy to get the shoe on. it is possibly a potential heel slippage aspect. but i have found with a firm lace tiedown that i don't experience heel slippage. i would make the heel counter thing a bit more regular in design if it was me.

    Hi, thank you for the review. I am a nurse who works 12 hour shifts. My feet and back are always sore after a shift. I am interested in purchasing HOKA’s Gravito for a change from my ACSICS GT 2000-7. I am not impressed with my ascics at all. I have heard nothing but positive things about HOKA. I don’t use my current shoes for running, just work. I am flat footed, and partially tore my Achilles’ tendon last summer. I definitely need comfort and lots of cushioning. Would you recommend Hoka Gravito or something else in Hoka or different Brand? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    • @RunMoore

      Thank you! The Gaviota would be most similar to Brooks Ariel/Beat as they are both max cushion max stability shoes. Thye both provide a firm but heavily cushioned ride and are not super flexible shoes. The Arahi is a lighter, softer, slightly less stable option.

    I noticed Hoka Bondi has a SR version. The slip resistance is a great option for work but it seems like there aren’t any widths available in all black which is a must for work. Does the Gaviota 3 have more arch support than the Bondi 7? I would benefit from more arch support than pronation support.

      Yes, the J-Frame is very similar in structure to the guide rails that are on the Paradigms. If you are interested in lighter stability I'd recommend trying the Arahi over the Gaviota.

    Great review! I’m on my 3rd pair of Gaviota 2s, the treads always seem to wear first on the outside edge. Does that mean I’m underpronating? Can you recommend a Hoka that could help? Always notice that when my Gaviota’s get worn my hips start hurting... Thx in advance

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, if you are wearing the shoes out on the outside of the shoe you are underpronating. The Gaviota is actually the best Hoka for someone that is underpronating.

    Your videos are fantastic! I am a moderate pronator and have always worn the SAME stability shoe: Adidas Supernova/Boost. Now I need a wider toe box due to a bunion. HOKA has been recommended - in particular, the Gaviota. My long runs are 15km max, so I don't think I need the MAX cushioning of the Gav. I'm considering the Arahi 5 as it's for mild pronation and I'm thinking the wider option (D?) would take care of the bunion? Do you think the Arahi will provide as much stability as my old Adidas? I only run on trails - do you think the Arahi 5's will work for this terrain? (Once I switched to ASICS trail runners & had knee probs, so my physio suggested going back to the Adidas.) Do you ship to Canada? :-)

    I have been running in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS for years (over-pronator with borderline narrow feet and flat feet, bunion on my right foot and mild planter fasciitis right foot). I run a 5k on the road 4 times per week. I am looking to try something different. I tried the Brooks Glycerin GTS 19. Maybe too much cushioning and not as much support as the Adrenaline GTS. Would the Hoka Arahi 5 be a good option?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  2 роки тому +2

      The Arahi sounds like a good option for you, it is a lighter shoe than either the Adrenaline pr Glycerin GTS. However, Hokas are cut a bit wider than Brooks.

    • @Adamas11
      @Adamas11 2 роки тому

      @@RunMoore Since the Hoka is cut wider than the Brooks and I have narrow feet, does it make sense to size down a half size? As long as there is enough room in the front of course.

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  2 роки тому +2

      @@Adamas11 The Hoka Arahi does run a little long so a 10 in Brooks would likely wear a 9.5 in Hoka. Generally, though, we recommend against sizing down for width unless there is a significant difference in length as well, like in this case.

    • @RunMoore

    I have been running in Bondi 7s since developing plantar fasciitis pain. Doc advised Moving to Bondi. I have noticed the tread wear pattern is on the outside of the sole from heel to mid foot and more laterally mid foot to forefoot. I am a heel striker, big guy, low mileage. Should I switch to the Gaviota for more stability or stay with the Bondi?

    • @RunMoore
      @RunMoore  2 роки тому

      If the midfoot is wearing in the middle of the shoe, stocking with the neutral Bondi is probably the way to go. Only switch to the Gaviota if you notice the midfoot is wearing heavily on the inside of your foot.

    Hi there! Thanks for doing this review! I'm always so torn with choosing Hokas becuase of the price tag so I was wondering if you'd be able to help me out... I ran in the Hoka Gaviota 2 for about 500k, loved the support and cushioning but wore the inner heel/ankle down and were quite heavy! I then changed totally to the NB FuelCell Prism much much lighter and faster but obviously much less support and after 250km I've already worn down alot of the cushioning and bounce in them but, I love the speed and lightweight. As a compromise between better cushioning than the NB FuelCell and less weight than the Gaviota, what would you suggest? The Arahi? Or is the new Gaviota a bit lighter? Thank you in advance!
