Sorry bro, my CEO, ummm, you know….my wife, stressed that bodily injury was at risk if I bought a world class Hardcastle hardcover book. So I bravely bought the ebook edition. And now I can cast it to my large screen TV. So I guess I win in the end after all. Cheers to a hard copy of your next Masterpiece. Much love and respect ❤️😎🙏
Thanks! Enjoy your work and the pranks to boot. Looking forward to going back to Ireland and Scotland after I recover further from my stroke. Last time I did a donation to you it somehow got Lost in Space. Hopefully this one does not. All the best to you and your wife. Safe Travels Rich Lihou, New Braunfels, TX. BTW since you are a Brit you may recognize the last name as my Dad was from Guernsey and there is a Lihou Island there. Thanks again for your delightful videos.
That last shot at 18:45 was transmeandous. I mean, photogasmic! It was really good! BTW, you’ve set a new expectation with the last video. Each episode needs a fight scene from now on.
There you go, back to suffering for your art! Those last two videos were waay too easy ;-) Beautiful images and drone work, thanks so much for taking us along. I look forward to the next ebook!
Man! Am I ever missing Ireland. Ended up visiting the country years ago before I ever picked up a camera, and now it's all I can think about. I can't wait to head back one day. Gorgeous work, Gavin! Fantastic video.
Brilliant Gavin even with a dodgy sensor you get epic images !! fairplay to Darren for looking after you both ! I must say Ireland suits Amanda looking beautiful a Canadian Maureen O Hara !!
I have massive respect for you and the work you put into such pleasing photos. When I see some of these challenges you face, I feel a bit of relief that I'm just a hobby street snapper living in conveniently photogenic London. But I'd have to take an incredible shot to stir the heart like a lot of yours do. And I haven't seen leprechauns. But a little 11 year old chubby traveller kid punched me in the back of my head a month ago! Just because I was photographing the two dozen horse and carts they weirdly whizzed right through the middle of Shoreditch's famous Brick Lane in. His parents looked quite happy that he'd whacked a London 'wa**er' like me, and didn't begrudge me when I yelled "F**K OFF" at their little future nightmare. I think they saw the whole thing as character-building.
Was having the same issue with my A7r3. Thought is was a fault with the 100-400 lens not being sharp. Followed your instructions and fixed. Only seemed to happen with this one lens. Thanks Gavin.
Absolutely wonderful video and smashing images! That particular location is just wonderful and you have done it justice indeed! Those twirls though, oh of eat a full pack now meself 😅 the chocolate outside Ireland is never as good! Cheers 😊
aaah that was the pointedness! Really epic spot for sure! you captured that mood really well 👍 I prefer the last comp personally. 👏 That aside, when are you coming to then nikon side of the force? none of these issues here... look at Thomas Heaton, no problem with his cams......... 😜
Nice Gavin ! I've also been at Guinness head and it is amazing. Pity for the farm on the left and the left side of the site closed off for public. I think your friend Thomas Heaton also has a video of this place by the way.
You got some excellent images on this trip, fototripper, especially the pano. That one is a wall hanger. BTW, can you not just turn off the IS on that camera? You don't need it any while you're shooting landscapes on a tripod.
My son took me to Ireland this summer for my birthday and it was amazing! We spent more time with castles than seascapes, but I wouldn't have traded it for anything. Beautiful images - I think Darren must have been kissing the Blarney Stone..... I'm sorry I missed out on the Twirls, though - didn't experience those.
Awesome stuff as always Gavin… and that pukka pano looked jaw droppingly Beautiful. Love the relationship between the subjects. It’s a shame Roy wasn’t there with you guys to demonstrate better photographic form with his, Exakta, Ensign or Kodak cameras… you could’ve learned something. LoL Looking forward to more episodes. Ps. Have you ever used any Voigtlander APO glass with your Sony?
Oh bloody ‘ell… 😂😂😂 Just stumbled upon this balmy, irreverent excuse for a photography blog and immediately subscribed! As some nauseous Leprechaun once said - “Tresmendous!”. And btw, that’s one unique Canadian accent.
If those "cormorants" have green eyes they probably are Shag (AFAIK cormorants are sweet water birds, while Shag are widespread on the Atlantic coast line)...
The toy Yoga in the Bar gave away your location... been to that bar and area a few times myself.. a beautiful part of Ireland and Donegal. A great place for astrophotography and even seeing the northern lights.
Gavin, not just this video, but EVERY video that you have ever created has been absolutly fandabidozy, which is why I bought the best hard copy ever of the incredible Chasing Awe. After watching the start of this video "what was crap in the shot", it occurred to me that although I've purchased, watched and started to re watch your epic, brilliant, fantastic, incredible, very affordable 3 video set on composition. I would love to watch some videos on explanations of "Why This Shot Was Crap" Honestly I'll pay for them now, because I reckon that although I have seriously learnt so much from your composition set, having explained what is wrong with an image, can also be an eye opener, so after I finish shooting and then assess all the excellent and correct areas that your learning has taught me, I can then take note of what I got wrong enabling me to take even better shots in the future. So my thoughts on each of my images should be, "Right well that, that, that, that and that look fantastic, now what did I get wrong and should change next time"
Lawn Chair, haha Great tip with that issue. I hope I never have to use it. Love you being on Thomas Heaton's video too. Normally I would've said anything, but you brought him up. hahaha That pano is fantastic, love you can just see the other point of rock. That may have been a Sperm whale
Damnit.. Seeing these ocean scapes is making me want to go back out to cape Breton. But I already planned to go back to Superior next Spring. All the way to Pukaskwa.
Darren had Marmite??? That would have won the day for me. 😆😆😆😆 Excellent vid as always and what a location... The cliffs, seas stacks, cloud and topped off with some stunning light rays!! Yeah the twirls would have been the icing on the cake although the marmite sarnies would also have kept the midges off. NO don't eat the marmite, that would be daft, apply it to any exposed skin.. midges, mosquitoes, leeches defeated.. Job Done. 😃
Awesome pics once again, the pano was awesome. Check out Risso's Dolphin to see if that matches what you saw. Very impressive when you see them leaping out.
I had same issue on my A7R4, even when camera was off stabilizer wouldn't release, I didn't knew the body was the issue until I obtained a second body and noticed the new body when off you can feel the sensor release and move if you slightly shake the camera and the older body wouldn't release at all.
5:25 This is why I avoid IBS as a feature on a camera. It adds a level of complexity that can lead to fail, while the return on that feature is small relatively speaking. A slow shutter will still give you subject blur. A monopod or tripod will substitute most ibs functions. In short, ibs gives me I.B.S.!
Oh gosh, what a hilarious video 😂😂😂 … great storytelling and entertainment. Along with some stunning images from an incredible location. … btw, the whale was Moby Dick and Gavin, forgive me, but you really need some sun tan. 😉
Or the R5. Without hate, I can say Canon and Nikon are the best brands for pro use. Sony isn't good enough for an all day shoot, from the bad ergonomics to less realiability
I'm on the same wavelength. I've shot Canon and Nikon, image quality is brilliant on both. I prefer the way Canon handles but my Nikons are like that Toyota Hilux from Top Gear. They take a right beating and just keep working no matter what the conditions.
another great one. one question: how is the merging while doing the panorama of the sea? The waves, foam and so on? Did the Lightroom manage that alright? greetings from Brazil
Best Book Ever? www.fototripper.com/chasing-awe-landscape-photography-book-gavin-hardcastle/
Well... Just bought Thomas Heaton's book, that's a nice one!
Just kidding though, I love the friendly bickering you've got going 🤣
🤣@

I would love to have one picked up as I was in Nova Scotia, but your e-mail must have been gone into my spam-can?
Thanks! Enjoy your work and the pranks to boot. Looking forward to going back to Ireland and Scotland after I recover further from my stroke. Wow! Thank you so much for your generosity Rich :) Wishing you a full recovery.
The panorama turned out beautifully and the drone footage is just spectacular!
Wow this is some epic landscape photography🤩 I loved the drone shots👏👏
That Guiness Stout looks great!
That last shot at 18:45 was transmeandous. I mean, photogasmic! It was really good! BTW, you’ve set a new expectation with the last video. Each episode needs a fight scene from now on.
Agreed.
That Drone Footage !! 🔥🔥
There you go, back to suffering for your art! Those last two videos were waay too easy ;-) Beautiful images and drone work, thanks so much for taking us along. I look forward to the next ebook!
wow, That Dronage is OFF THE CHARTS !! Now I know why you wouldn't share :-) another superb afternoon Pal, and man those twirls were tasty A F ..
Exactly! Maybe I'd gotten those Twirls I would have given you a few C grade clips but no!
that shot with the light rays would make a tresmendous book cover.
With your exclusive audience, Gavin, it would be dangerous to miss a shot on such locations. So, lucky you.
The drone footage is amazing.🎉
The images are fantastic,, but the drone footage is magnifiqua!! Some how made me think of an intro to Game Of Thrones!
l never, NEVER, use image stabilizer when using a tripod.
I forgot to turn it off once and that’s all it took for me to remember to turn it off now.
Enjoyed every second of it🤣 Looks like everywhere you turned there is a pic. to be made. Thanks for posting, you made my Sunday afternoon!
You visited my country Gavin... Now that will be $20
Oh it was more than $20!
I look forward to every episode and possibly learn a few things too 😊
Cool pics and great presentation with humor. Thanks for sharing the story
Stunning scenery and fantastic images! The drone footage was incredible! Loved this video, Gavin!
Stunning scenery there Gavin. Great shots. Another classic episode mate.
FairPlay buddy! Very dramatic scenery, loved your shots. Darren seems like a blast
Man! Am I ever missing Ireland. Ended up visiting the country years ago before I ever picked up a camera, and now it's all I can think about. I can't wait to head back one day. Gorgeous work, Gavin! Fantastic video.
Do it!
Must be time for a Nikon...send that Sony right off that Irish cliff! Twirls and Midges...what a day!
The coast of Iceland is wonderful, so green too.
Brilliant Gavin even with a dodgy sensor you get epic images !! fairplay to Darren for looking after you both ! I must say Ireland suits Amanda looking beautiful a Canadian Maureen O Hara !!

Is it no longer acceptable to punch kids back?
Apparently. not (if you get caught ;))@@fototripper
I’m glad I never got a Sony camera that seems like a lot of issues😂
@@brandensPhotos I have a Fuji. No issues! Well apart from the autofocus being a bit rubbish until the firmware update made it broadly ok!
Was having the same issue with my A7r3. Thought is was a fault with the 100-400 lens not being sharp. Followed your instructions and fixed. Only seemed to happen with this one lens. Thanks Gavin.
That shots worthy of you next book.
the wifey is the real show...
She’s great in these videos. 🙂
I Love Amanda. Gavin your pretty Great too.❤
Very nice Gavin , I loved this video , the leprechauns story was brilliant that’s as good as the Haggis story. Here’s The Shot 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well done mate! These images are Nat Geo worthy! I'm always envious of your locations let alone the stellar images!
Defo Cormorants….might be the odd Shag around somewhere?…🎉😂❤
Ah, the good old recipe from the IT Crowd: "have you tried switching it off and on again ?"
Watching the closing slo-mo clip for the win!
Great show. Nice drone work also!
Great video Gavin. It looks like a beautiful place. How is your leg doing?
Very slow progress. Just when I think I can do normal stuff it gets pranged.
Take care of yourself.@@fototripper
Stunning images Gavin👌
.. and those were winged lepricorns, theyre usually nocturnal so you did well spotting them in daylight 👊
Donegal is beautiful whereever you go. Great backwards flying in the middle of the video Gavin 😉
Absolutely wonderful video and smashing images! That particular location is just wonderful and you have done it justice indeed!
Those twirls though, oh of eat a full pack now meself 😅 the chocolate outside Ireland is never as good!
Cheers 😊
Gavin, I find the best anti-midge waer is Lycra leggings and Lycra long sleeve top...but do you have the physique...
The pano is fabulous.
Depends on if you enjoy seeing manatees in Lycra.
aaah that was the pointedness! Really epic spot for sure! you captured that mood really well 👍 I prefer the last comp personally. 👏 That aside, when are you coming to then nikon side of the force? none of these issues here... look at Thomas Heaton, no problem with his cams......... 😜

"So Long Sony"? ;) Your tips on fixing the potential problem are solid.
Ireland doesn't have snakes, but does have midges. #themoreyouknow
2:00 🍺🍺Fantastic Irish landscapes. I used to live on Guernsey Island.
Thanks for another great video, Gavin!
loved loved the pano at around 14:10
Awesome stuff as always Gavin… and that pukka pano looked jaw droppingly Beautiful. Love the relationship between the subjects.

If the whale had a square face, it must have been Spongebob. Did you see a starfish next to it? This location looks amazing!!!
I like the GUINNESS w/ Bickford's Blackcurrant ... It makes my day... ;)
Was the real motive for going to Ireland the Guinness and Twirls, with the photos a bonus? Another hilarious video and great shots!
Holy crapola that fixed my fuzzy image issue 😮 . I've dropped mine a couple times as well. I had fuzzy images on and off the tripod. Thanks
Finally, someone who gets it.
If those "cormorants" have green eyes they probably are Shag (AFAIK cormorants are sweet water birds, while Shag are widespread on the Atlantic coast line)...
Blasted blood suckers!!! And those lousy insects too. Gorgeous scenery and pictures!!
The toy Yoga in the Bar gave away your location... been to that bar and area a few times myself.. a beautiful part of Ireland and Donegal. A great place for astrophotography and even seeing the northern lights.
Aurora would be amazing there.
Why Gavin souds like Captain Jack sparrow in these moody conditions?
Gavin, not just this video, but EVERY video that you have ever created has been absolutly fandabidozy, which is why I bought the best hard copy ever of the incredible Chasing Awe.

that pano is feckin brilliant Gav or photo-gasmic as u would say 👌📷
Great video and location! Has the sensor cleaner always sounded like a drunk horsefly? 😂 Hope your leg heals up soon. Cheers! 😎
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it proper procedure to turn off image stabilization when using a tripod?
It was switched off.
@fototripper Thanks, I must have missed that
Not sure when you're back but we should get out for some juicy winter shots once the flakes fall
Hey Gavin! Another great location... Maybe a great location for a workshop? Get in touch.
Ah that reminds me, where's the 'ban' function on my shopping cart...
@@fototripper lol

I can confirm that this works as the midges perish in misery after the first taste of marmite.
@@fototripper Excellent I knew it had at least one use. 😆Keep up the brilliant work. 😀
Hey! How about an entire episode thru the eyes of Amanda. Showing what it’s like dealing with you all day🤣
Awesome pics once again, the pano was awesome. Check out Risso's Dolphin to see if that matches what you saw. Very impressive when you see them leaping out.
Superb job as usual mate. 👍
Beaton did your ankle. Never forget that Gavin. 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
Great shots from a great Scot! Now share the twizzlers😆
Hello thanks so beautiful.i love Sony.
Speaking of Amanda ... Rumor is she is the proud owner of a Hassie. What's her channel? 😊😂
That drone video at 3:00 was awesome! Why didn't you scurry up that pinnacle?
Nothing like a properly poored guiness. If you’re in Ireland and the pub doesn’t properly poor it….run. Ask me how I know 😂
I had same issue on my A7R4, even when camera was off stabilizer wouldn't release, I didn't knew the body was the issue until I obtained a second body and noticed the new body when off you can feel the sensor release and move if you slightly shake the camera and the older body wouldn't release at all.

If you don't know the difference between a cormorant and a shag then just be careful of who you go birdwatching with...
You just need to have in your camera bag, a bottle of "Avon Skin So Soft" best midge repellent ever.
Gavin! You’ve got my buying multi packs of Twirls now!!! Lol 😂
I recommend to use a hand strap to avoid dropping the the camera.
these past few vlogs have included some really beautiful moody scenes , next book not so much chasing awe but chasing drama......
I believe that WOW magnafeequa PANO Is going in the next book… ;)
I really ought to get over to Ireland with my camera.
Hello, new subscriber from Glasgow. (I'd blame that big tube Heaton for this) 🤣🤣
The photography is nice, but… more Amanda!
Strange waves they seem to have in Ireland, must be the effect of the Guinness.
cool place - kind of a funny character
Oh gosh, what a hilarious video 😂😂😂 … great storytelling and entertainment. Along with some stunning images from an incredible location. … btw, the whale was Moby Dick and Gavin, forgive me, but you really need some sun tan. 😉
Only my legs.
Time to pick up the early November-released Panasonic Lumix G9 ii, Gavin?!!!
Fabulous views 🔥 youl have to definitely pay wales a visit one time be interesting to see some of your pictures 🔥🤛
Definitely!!

Lovely, Gavin. Lovely.....
What a gorgeous place to photograph, as funny as ever. Those bites must have itched for days. Thanks.
Daaaaaays!
another great one.
one question: how is the merging while doing the panorama of the sea? The waves, foam and so on? Did the Lightroom manage that alright?

I used Luminar Neo with no issues.
Donegal is definitely a County I want to visit. definitely worth the trek.
Cormorant? If in doubt, just call it a Shag. It probably isn't, but you'll get a bigger laugh. ;)
