  • List of the various presidential firsts. This is not an exhaustive list, but it covers a unique and interesting fact about each President of the United States from George Washington to Joe Biden.
In the course of more then two centuries some of these presidential firsts truly show the progression of time. This includes technological accomplishments such as who was the first president to be photographed during their time in office, who was to ride in an automobile or who was the first president to send an email.
It also covers some historical and cultural questions such as who was the first president to not be a slaveholder, who was the first president to establish a national park and who was the first president to president to nominate an African American Judge to the Supreme Court.
All 45 presidents are mentioned in this list.

He was the first to fly in an airplane in 1910 (which wasn't planned as he was in Missouri to help the state's GOP but saw the Wright Brothers' air show in St. Louis and wanted to join on the fly...pun intended). He was the first (and only) president to have earned the Medal of Honor which he got for serving in Cuba, however it took all the way until 2001 for this to happen. Another first for William Henry Harrison: He was the first President to die in office. He died exactly a month after his inauguration (his inauguration was March 4, 1841; his death was April 4). He was physically worn down from his social schedule, so he enjoyed taking walks to get things off his mind. On March 24, 1841, he didn't wear a coat nor hat. He was caught in a storm, but he didn't care and didn't bother to change his clothes when he returned to the White House. He got ill with cold-like symptoms and took medication for fatigue as well as a laxative.
None on the medication he took worked and he got severe pain on his side, leading doctors to confirm he got right lower lobe pneumonia. On the evening of April 3, he said his last words to his doctor to tell John Tyler, "Sir, I wish you to understand the true principles of the government. I wish them carried out. I ask nothing more". He would die thirty minutes after midnight on April 4 at age 68.

10:58 North Dakota was Actually The Last State to Join USA in 2012.
A constitutional error recently discovered shows that North Dakota has never technically fit the requirements for statehood. John Rolczynski, an 82-year old Grand Forks resident, discovered the error in 1995 and has been been campaigning to fix North Dakota’s constitution ever since. The problem lies in the state constitution’s omission in requiring the governor and other top officials to take an oath of office. In failing to require these oaths, North Dakota’s constitution is at odds with federal requirements established by Article VI of the U.S. Constitution, therefore making statehood illegitimate. After nearly 16 years of fighting to change the constitution, Rolczynski may finally see his goal accomplished: Senator Tim Mathern of Fargo introduced a bill for Spring of 2012 that would fix the error.
Making North Dakota The True 50th State to Join the USA.

You are mistaken. North Dakota was not technically the last state to join the United States. The constitutional error that was discovered in 1995 did not affect the validity of North Dakota’s statehood, which was granted by Congress and the President in 1889. The error only meant that the state constitution did not comply with the federal law, which could have caused legal problems for the state officials. However, the error was corrected in 2011 and 2012 by amending the state constitution and adding the oath of office requirement. Therefore, North Dakota’s statehood was never revoked or nullified, and it remains the 39th state of the United States. The last state to join the United States was Hawaii, which became a state on August 21, 1959.

You know, it's amazing what the press picks up on. For a while, Truman used to put a period after the "S" which when used properly would denote an abbreviation for a full name. They made an issue out of that in that Truman might have been hiding some kind of name.

The OP is correct. Andrew Jackson finished well ahead of JQA in both popular and electoral votes, but fell short of an outright majority in the four-way race. Henry Clay threw his support to JQA, which made all the difference, as Clay was Speaker of the House at the time and could twist the arms of the Representatives. Clay then became JQA's Secretary of State, leading to charges of a "corrupt bargain", putting wind into the sails of Jackson's successful run in 1828.

While yes it‘s true that Truman was the first president to visit Germany during the presidency, I thought I might add that Ulysess Grant visited the then German Empire and met with Bismarck after the end of his presidency which many people don‘t know. Kennedy actually visited Germany too before Truman did on a tour of Europe with one of his friends in the 1930s but of course that was long before he became US president.
