Great song....Great reaction!
Please revel in this tune - it’s exceptional!!!
You witnessed the best song and performance of all time. You have a lot of class just like Bobby Hatfield. I respect you a lot because you know what you are talking about. I subscribed right away. Be safe and take care.
i too . subscibed. the old hippie
The very best!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bobby Hartfield was a boss an unmatched . R.I.P.
Gwann Bobby - no one knows how that feels - go on with the generation it’s so so special - I feel so privileged!!!
He made every women there that day feel like he was singing to her. Thats how powerful his voice was.
This is Bobby Hatfield. The singer you don't see is Bill Medley. This is when love songs were really love songs and no one needed enhancements to sound great. ❤❤❤❤❤
¹No one better than Bobby. listen to Summertime and crying in the chaple and you've lost that loving feeling. So many more.
One of the most covered tunes in the history of recorded music. A prime example of what was called in the 1960s "Blue-eyed Soul." Believe it or not, the original tune was from 10 years earlier! (1955) in a prison movie titled "Unchained"!! You're exactly right, Pzo Malone, there aren't many love sonnets put to music nowadays.
❤️🙌
The very best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He gives a masterclass in vocal technique
Yes, Flute....but I actually believe this performance is un-reproduceable (if that is a word..ha). Bobby Hatfield does so many things technically, that individually might be learned and reproduced...but surely not even close to the total...by any other singer. AND...Bobby infuses the technical with emotional elements...that I've never heard or seen before. I believe...a review of the now many Reactions to this performance on UA-cam...will verify this.
By the way....this is the Best presented Reaction Format I've seen. Pzo Malone deserves high praise for this.
@@thinking6307 You are so right, there were many singers, who tried to sound like him but this is Masterclass! The way he modulates and enunciates certain words like "need your love", "much" and "touch". Most other singers just drag that out. That's just one of the elements why most women feel Bobby personally serenades them. He sing-speaks on their wavelength folding his longings and yearnings into 9-syllable runs like "I (need your love)", he's "killing them softly with his song" (Thanks Roberta!)
What a good reaction. So many of us think and feel exactly like you do when we first saw Bobby's performance. He is unbelievable.
AND....we Continue to have similar reactions EVERY TIME we listen and see this performance again!
Thanks Bro so encouraging to see your appreciation for what music can be and should be, BEAUTIFUL!
There has never been a male singer like Bobby Hatfield. His live performance is a masterpiece, and the world lost him too soon.
Such a beautiful song 🥰🥰🥰 Great reaction! Esta es música que trasciende el tiempo y la época ¡Saludos, desde Argentina!
Love your wisdom, understanding, and respect for older music. Reaction was great. Great video man.
Nice reaction ... this must be the greatest ever live performance of a pop song by a male artist - it's truly magnificnet! Cheers
Listen to you’ve lost that loving feeling and you’ll hear the other half of the RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS. It’s great to know you kids like this you do need more of this nowadays
Pure vocal perfection! No tricks...no Autotune...no tricks!
You really need to hear summertime by him!!!!!
G R E A T R E A C T I O N !!!!!! First time on this channel...and I'm Subscribing!! Say Pzo..You have THE BEST Reaction Video...uh, uh Format!!!! The Video taking 75% of the screen....with You live INSET ON THE PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAYUM....THE BEST OF ALL REACTION VIDEO FORMATS I've seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Yeah, Bobby Hatfield is a G.O.A.T. ....for sure. This one 57 year old recorded live performance...IS S O L I D G O L D. We are so lucky to have this LIVE recorded performance in such amazing condition. They say this song...Unchained Melody has been recorded over 1500 times by over 600 artists over these many years. Yet NO ONE has put this heart and soul...and AMAZING vocals into it. A bunch have tried..but no one has...and it is unlikely this performance will ever be even approached.
Try Reacting to their (Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley - The Righteous Brothers) most played song of the 20th Century..."You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling". It will blow you away too. Bobby's highs and Bill's lows...you'll hear and see!!! So glad you and members of your generation are visiting some of my generation's musical heros. Almost all have similar Reactions to Unchained Melody, this Solo by Bobby...and you can imagine what this performance does to women.
Now...I'm going to watch your Reaction again.
Good to see this timeless performance still wowing people over 50 years later. There is just nothing like this today. Great reaction to an amazing performance.
This was live on the Andy Williams show. Bobby Hatfield sang this as a solo. He was ill with a cold and worried about being able to hit that note at the end of the song. Also, his Mom was in the audience and had never heard him sing live before. No pressure! The Righteous Brothers got their name from the Black Marines at El Toro base in SoCal. After a performance they yelled "that was righteous, Brothers!" The name stuck. Check out You've Lost That Loving Feeling, and Soul and Inspiration. His 'brother' is Bill Medley who sings bass/baritone. Bobby's range was tenor all the way up through the top of Countertenor. Most folks think it's falsetto but for him it's not. His voice is so relaxed he could get all the way up there. If you notice his jaw when he sings there is no tension there. No autotune, one shot at it: this is perfection. It's even better than the studio recording that was played on the radio. IMHO!
Bobby would never worry about hitting that note no matter how nervous he was. We don't have to make up stories about this performance to make it impressive; the reality is amazing enough.
You know the Righteous Brothers! I was born in 1947, they’ve always been one of my favorites. I have several other CDs I used to have the records. It is wonderful to see them recognized as one of the greatest duets, which, each individually can do a solo and stand on their own. Neither is dependent upon the other, but to gather ❤❤❤
They're not really brothers.
@@Aurora-tp3dy Bobby had horrible stage fright before going on. The point that was he had a cold plus his mom was hearing him live on stage for the first time. He still blew them away. The dude was good.
Bill Medley didn’t come close to Bobby Hatfield in vocal greatness nor as a person.
Amoung the greatest live performances of all time! Bobby Hatfield was one half of the Righteous Brothers, the other member is Bill Medley. They flipped a coin to determine who would sing this song as only one of them could perform it! Bobby won the toss. This live version is actually better than the original studio version! RIP Bobby.
Always loved this song. So beautiful. It was all sung live with his mama in the audience.
The Righteous Brothers were amazing, Bobby’s voice was sublime. 💕💕
MAGNIFICENT!!!❤❤❤
Man, thank you for your openness and honesty. This is probably the greatest live performance ever by anyone in any genre. Bobby Hatfield had an insane voice. Great reaction.
One of my favorites...❤️
The soloist singing unchained melody is the late great Bobby Hatfield. Fabulous singer
Hey Pzo. I love that you love this. Your generation needs to listen to more of this stuff for inspiration and depth of heart and soul.💕💕Joining Team Pzo.
You'll never walk alone on the Ed Sullivan Show really showcases both their voices
Great to see you looking at these classics!😊
His name was Bobby Hatfield who died in November 2003 at the age of 63. They( Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley) were not brothers. You can hear both their biggest hit " You've Lost That Loving Feeling". Sometimes they would do solos. Other songs: Soul & Inspiration ", Ebb Tide, You'll Never Walk Alone, Rock n roll Heaven, I Just Wanna Make Love To You" and many others.
Thanks! For understanding this music and why we loved our era of music.
Thr lovely Bobby Hatfield. God-given talent.
I love how you enlarge the screen of the artist during their performance!
You are an old soul my friend😘!!!! IMHO this HAS to be THE best LIVE performance EVER!!!!! LUSH reaction......🔥😍🔥
What a great reaction 🙏 thank you from 🇩🇰 in Europe 😂
Yes, Bobby was one of those Artists that had Women saying "Please have my Babies !!!". As a fellow Vocalist ... Bobby Hatfield this is probably the best Live Performance ever performed of any Song ever. And yes, there are 2 "Giveret" ... but if you search for the intro to this performance with Andy Williams, you'll find out the story behind the Band name and why only Bobby performed this Song solo. Having been in Studios where we can "punch in/out" to get the best outcome and performed "live" as well, there are "choices" are made ... SO many factors go into it ... climate, mood, sound guys, et al. As an "old guy" a reminder that this was "pre-Auto Tune", Tube Amps and a Mic with far less dynamic range that what's available today. So few of us (and certainly not me) can hit high C ... post puberty (LOL and MJ could do it RIP). Utterly amazing IMHO. Just a "visual" note as well ... pre-MTV and the part where he begins to sing about how "lonely Rivers flow to the Sea" sync'd with the fade out with the yellow Globe bulb lights was SO cool ... again, IMHO.
And BTW, Todd Duncan was the original release Artist in 1955.
Sweet, charming, beautiful, soulful and talented Bobby Hatfield. This song hit the charts twice and this live version is even better. Bobby has done many solos like My Prayer and Summertime or Ebb Tide which also charted. Anything he and Bill Medley do as a duo is awesome like You'll never walk alone or Soul and Inspiration.
This is Bobby Hatfield. The other part of the duo is Bill Medley. Bobby passed away in 2003. Check out "You've Lost That Loving Feeling", "You'll Never Walk Alone", "Ebb Tide" and "Soul and Inspiration". This song was used in the movie "Ghost". They each did solo performances in each performance. I grew up with this music. No auto tunes. Just pure talent. The artists could actually sing, you could understand what they were saying and they dressed well. This was a TV performance. They were called Blue-Eyed Soul.
Best ever by a male singer - live. Bobby was quite simply great. Try "Guess who" "somewhere" "Summertime" "Bring it on home to me" - good variety but many more. All terrific!
OMG the late Bobby Hatfield! I was 15 yrs old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. No auto tune, just pure raw talent! RIP Bobby! We miss hearing your beautiful voice! You need to play more music by the Righteous Brothers. They were awesome!!! 💖💖💖
And i too watched this live performance, at 10 years old, with my mom. I was amazed and loved it then and still get goose bumps when I see this performance now. ❤❤
Do you have to talk when the song is on
Best slow dance song ever!
Great reaction! Love watching young people discover my music!
This was live...on the Andy Williams Show...(also a singer)...
Love, sensitivity, talent.....he was amazing.
So blessed to grow up with this kind of music…each of them agreed that they would do one solo record in each album and this was his. Every woman loves to slow dance to this song…
I've watched tons of reactions to this song. Yours is the best of the best. Hell, im 70 now and remember this song Killin it back then. Now you have the same reaction. Craziness!
Keep On Keepin On
I have been watching these reactions! I agree this is one of the best reactions by far. I’m also 70 and glad for singers like this. Now we hear the studio version and then live and they don’t even sound alike
Your reaction brought me joy!
Beautiful voice. love the song.
Best comments. Thanks for making the song come alive.
Loved your reaction.
Thanks for giving this many his justly deserved praises. He was a legend of our times and he along with his brother were super singers of the times...
Welcome to “Blue Eyed Soul”!!!! One of the greats!!!
His mom was in the audience and his smile at the end was because he knew he killed it!!!
The amazing Bobby Hatfield. One of the finest voices of the 20th century. Supreme talent. RIP Bobby.
His voice a God’s gift .
Classic …. Bobby Hatfield is his name
This is where the term "blue eyed soul" came from.
Amazing....he was sick when he sang this live! You can't really tell.....most can't sing this on their best day! Lol. Bobby Hatfield killed it! No one sang this better .....Imo.
Also check out Bobby singing SUMMERTIME on his own. Amazing!!
Oh, look at that, I was already subscribed. Keep up the good work. 🙂🙃😂💕
You are wise beyond your years young man. Keep that mind open and you will go so far in this life.
Just imagine No Autotune! Absolute TALET! That’s the music I grew up listening to! The best of the best!
Congratulations Amigo. You GET IT. Good reaction.
Yup! Live 2b lucky enough to see them in Vegas!😊
Wow I love this song thank you for showing see💓
Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley were not' biological brothers but were magical together...and they got their name while playing in a club down south where a man did stand up and yell out 'that's righteous brother'...it was not at the El Toro base in SoCal. In 2003 Bobby Hatfield was found dead in his motel room in Kalamazoo Michigan and a coroner concluded that cocaine use had precipitated his fatal heart attack...so sad that such a beautiful man left the world the way he did...Thank You for sharing..peace be the journey !!!
This was live on TV.. The Andy Williams Show.. I was 18 when I watched this with my folks.
Back in the day, they had the best music.
This performance was done by Bobby Hatfield on the Andy Williams Variety Show. He is one half of the Righteous Brothers, being that Bill Medley is the other half. They were both 25 years old then. I was 15 at the time and remember these boys and let me tell you that us girls were so in love with the Righteous Brothers. Can't say which brother won out over the other with the girls back then. I watched this performance on TV. Bobby's mother was in the audience behind him in the blue dress. He was nervous performing. But when he was done with that performance, he totally owned it!! There is an original version sung by Todd Duncan in movie called "Unchained" about an inmate singing to his love to wait for him. This became a hit in 55' and was nominated for the Academy Awards, didn't win but made it to #1 on the Billboard Charts. The recorded version of this song sung by Bobby Hatfield was on the B side of a record because the A side was supposed to be the hit song, 'Hung on You." This b side was most played by the dj's instead, which became the hit song and made the Billboard Charts at #4 in 65.' It later was re-released for the movie "Ghost" in 90' and became a hit all over again with another Billboard top 100. They got their name back when people and
things were referred to as being 'righteous, brother.' So after their performance the crowd would yell out "that's righteous brother.' Hence, they decided that was a good name to call themselves. Bobby has since left us to join the Band in Rock n Roll Heaven. To this day no one has ever bested Bobby's version!!! RIP Bobby.
Blue eyed soul my Brother.🥰
Buttery smooth.
It warms my heart to see you appreciate the music of my day
Welcome to blue-eyed soul! No auto tune! Great reaction!
They didn't have auto-tune back in the day! Just a pure, natural voice!
I have said, you can feel his voice in your soul.
Talent was an absolute necessity in those days, and the Righteous Brothers had it
I not only love this song from my era but seeing young people's reactions and loving it as much as I did in the 1960s. It does my heart good.
One of the most beautiful romantic love songs of all time, sang by a real dreamboat. So happy it moved you 💛💜
It's from the movie ghost.... ❤❤ Love his voice.. Omg ❤
Must have learned to Sing in Church... Elvis and James Brown both had that Soul too.. These Men are Great Singers...
His name is Bobby Hatfield, and he was some kind of good. You are right about there not being music like his these days.
Elvis also sang this song at his last performance weeks before his death
In the 60's, 70's & 80's, a period which I refer to as the Golden Age of Popular Music, if you did not have real talent, you did not get a record contract, PERIOD! All of the music from this era is top notch, even what was considered passe at the time. Music today has no soul.
The other thing (which we don't see any longer) is borrowing techniques from one style of music and using them in another. I can hear elements of 50's doo-wop in Hatfield's performance, as well as 60's Motown
Yeah back then if you couldn't keep time or in tune, you'd have to go,home and sing in your shower.
Beautiful reaction brother.
Those of us who grew up on this music were truly blessed! 💕
Great comments…enjoyed your reaction…
I was 15… It was a wonderful time for music.
"Summertime" (also sung by Bobby) will completely knock your socks off.
No altering of any kind, and done live. Just Bobby at his best. Cheers.
You need to back this video up to see the humorous chatting with both Righteous Brothers and Andy Williams. They are all wearing pink that night because it was Valentines Day (1965). The Andy Williams show took place in a large studio with a live audience. In the chat scene, Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley talk about how they got the name, Righteous Brothers and that Bobby sings Unchained Melody by himself. Bill was kidding when he said he didn’t think it was going to be a hit. They had decided to include a solo on each album and flipped a coin to see who would sing that first solo and Bobby won.
The studio recording from 1964 was an immediate and giant hit. I like this live version better because of the more dramatic ending. The song became a big hit again in 1990 when it was featured throughout the movie, Ghost.
It was October 25, not February 14. Have no idea how that story got started. There probably was never a coin toss. I think Bill just got tired of being asked why Bobby sang it and not him. The earliest comments by him were that Bobby brought it to the recording session for his solo for that particular album. In fact, Bobby said he had been singing it for years even before he met Bill. It was so easy for him to sing it because he had it in his pocket. It was always Bobby's song.
Hi ive listened to youg peoplee for about an hour and you are the only one i would gladly listen to again you are very respectful to different music you were surely brought up very well by polite parents hope to listen to you some more 😊
Wow, thank you
Check out the Righteous Brothers Soul & Inspiration (1966) and You’ve lost that lovin feeling. You will love those classics too!
I was lucky enough to see the Righteous Brothers in concert nearly 60 years ago. Love them!❤ Listen to them sing I Just Want To Make Love To You and Summertime.
Real everything.
when listening to this song, think of the soldiers over in vietnam, yearning for their girlfriends and wives....this song came out during that time in history....knowing this, gives it a deeper meaning.....i enjoy watching your reaction to these old tunes. the old hippie.
Watch Bobby sing Summertime, vocal acrobatics!!
Young man you are so right about music nowadays isn't anything like it used to be. There are so many more voices from the past that you have yet to hear. Ask yourself how many singers in this day and age sound the same if not better live than they do in studios? One I can say in the present would be Chris Stapleton but I can't name any others. Just be open to honestly listening to anything suggested to you and it will open your eyes to endless possibilities. Also once you listen to a song check out who originally sang it because a lot of songs are covers of songs from long ago. One in particular was Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You which was originally written and sang by Dolly Parton. You will also hear a lot of covers for the song Crazy which was originally sung by Patsy Cline (another Angelic voice).
Perfect reaction to Bobby Hatfield giving us a masterclass performance 👏 ❤
I was 15 living 25 miles from him. Question where has the music gone?
The Righteous Brothers consisted of Bill Medley (not seen in this video) and Bobby Hatfield. They had two big hits in which Bobby sang the song solo -- "Unchained Melody" and "Ebb Tide." But hearing them together is truly a special treat. Check out their songs "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" and "(You're My) Soul and Inspiration." Honestly, you haven't really heard the Righteous Brothers until you've heard them both together. They were one of the biggest singing duos of the 1960s and were one of the main "house groups" on an ABC-TV prime time popular music show geared for the younger generation called "Shindig!" So they got a lot of air time on TV in the mid '60s when the show was popular. Sadly, Bobby died in 2003 soon after they were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Bill still performs under the name Righeous Brothers with a new, much younger partner, Bucky Heard. But it's just not the same. Nobody sang like Bobby, and nobody's voices ever blended together quite like Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, the Righteous Brothers.
This was called blue eyed soul!! A counter tenor he could effortlessly reach notes few men could. Best live performance ever...no re-takes, cut and paste, auto tune ...dont make em like that any more
Great reaction. He wasn't even trying .
Unchained Melody -
" Unchained Melody " is a 1955 song with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret. North wrote the music as a theme for the little-known prison film Unchained (January 1955), [1] hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. [2] lot of people sing that song but Bobby Hatfield owned it!!! His mom was in the audience when he sang that and he was nervous as a cat lol.
Go to the Andy Williams Show. The Righteous Brothers singing What'd I Say with Andy Williams. Then you can watch 3 great men of that day with their incredible voices. Remember live and no such thing as auto tune or anything like it. This is Bobby Hatfield the other one is Bill Medley.❤️❤️❤️
Pro, you may have heard this song before but no one sings it like Bobby Hatfield!
Before they were famous a guy that use to come watch them sing told them they were some righteous hence the righteous brothers.
