We didn't have much ammo and had no allies it was just us cornered on a cliff and were about to get shot by it. Sadly we could not take it on
@@EXPLORERX1234 retreat further back into the cave as it fired and then got at it as it walked away, plus low ammo isn't an issue for spartans, simply kill an enemy and pick up theirs.

Kat had the most realistic death to show anyone could die at any time no matter how safe you felt
That’s what makes it, in my opinion, the saddest death in reach, it made us realise that even though they’re the best soldiers fighting for humanity on reach, they can’t all die with meaning, or having really made a difference, and it really brings out the despair that we feel

YES, I completely agree with this. Halo Reach didn't really have any sad deaths other than Carter and Jorge for me. While everyone died for humanity I can't help but feel Jorge and Carter specifically died not only for humanity but in hopes of paving a way for the rest of their family (Noble Team). Emile died on the gun to help 6. But ultimately his death felt more like vengeance. As for Kat her death almost like Emile's death were purely... horrifying for me, in the blink of an eye, Kat died, mid sentence, no build up, or fall off it just happened, same as Emile's just happened in an instant with no real hint toward it. As for 6 well he died heroically so in a way it wasn't sad to me but rather inspiring.
Yeah Kat's death was a huge tone shift to the games story, Jorge got to die a hero's death believing what he did mattered but Kat she died without any chance to do anything
As i got older i realized this but first time i was like she got the shit end of the stick no meaning nothing really sad just dropped out of no where
Now that i’m grown up. Kat’s death might be saddest. Rarely do video games or even movies just straight up shoot a main character without any build up or hero moment. She was talking mid-sentence when it happened and of course her shields were already down. Pretty sad in my opinion.

Kats death is pretty sad cause its a more realistic way for a soldier to die than some glorious last stand or badass death, just going about your day and suddenly your brains all over the wall and no one could've stop it.
I personally thought Kat’s death was the saddest, it showed how Spartans were not as strong as we thought and it was so sudden and so real. The whole game felt beautifully sad because of the team giving their all to reach.
And not only that, Kat was also finally starting to open up to six and accept him as a new member of the team, like I want to see more of it but few seconds later she’s dead
It gets me seeing her miss the elevator button on the way down and mince her words for the first time in the game after the glassing. The fear was actually getting to a battle hardened Spartan but none of them could admit to the terror because it was antipodal to what a Spartan was supposed to be. Then ashes plays following her death. Ashes always sounded to me like a dark lullaby. It reminds me that these Spartans were barley adults, they were robbed of childhood and tortured into the optimal soldier. It really stings to hear the ghostly melody of what sounds like a little girl singing what best she can remember of a lullaby.

I always had a personal head-cannon that the dead spartans in the last mission were other players who died in the mission
I disagree about Kat's for one reason. Carter, Emile, Jorge, and Six were all lives spent where Kat's felt wasted.
Well she was targeted by the field marshal from a phantom. In fact the same one that attacked the team with the sword in the first mission then ran away after they managed to break his shield. Im pretty sure that marshal knew kat was a technical genius and a good planner so that’s probably why she was targeted specifically. Also it was a good time to do so because the radiation blast EMP’d her shield’s making her vulnerable at the same time.
Id put kat higher, carter and jorge were able to die on their own terms while kat just died

@teme7354 Emile's was the most badass. Carter's was the most honorable. Kat's was the hardest to hit, because it was just that sudden. Jorge's was the saddest, because the big man literally thought he saved home just to have a covenant fleet slipspace in. Six......well, we die as we lived in the lore......as a Lone Wolf.
Because they were much sadder. Jorge didn’t necessarily have to sacrifice himself in that moment, there’s other possibilities that likely could have resulted in the same outcome.
By the time Emile and six’s death comes they didn’t have much of a way out, well maybe six did but still.
I remember someone, Carter, I think saying something like: Jorge died thinking he saved Reach. We should all be that lucky.

Bro I just recently played through reach again, and besides 6, Kat’s death was the saddest to me. She’s the only one who didn’t go out on her terms and instead her life was just ripped from her in an instant
I thought the same thing about Jorge, but it's prolly because the Marines would get their brains blown out defending the bomb
Jorge died first, big man he is, he died protecting the world he loved most.
Kat second, being the smartest and most cheeky member of the team, took a sniper round to the head, in the middle of a retort.
Jun survived, the distant sniper, escaped the destruction.
Carter third, the leader and strategist, died to make sure the mission succeeded.
Emile fourth, the most aggressive, stabbed by an Elite's energy sword.
Six last, died alone, amidst a mountain of dead friends and foes alike, the "Lone Wolf", ONI's personal Grim Reaper.
Cruel irony.
I agree with this ranking but I personally think Kat's death was the best because it reminds you that not every soldier goes out on their own terms like Jorge, Carter or Six (and technically Emile since he took out one last elite before going down)
You can't have a list of saddest deaths in halo reach when all of them were painfully heartbreaking...
We all died on that battlefield, the bodies symbolized who’s before you, and what’s to come, but as a community we all unite under that lone mission, with impossible odds of survival. Remember Reach.
the saddest for me was jorge. He was probably my favorite character since i saw him walking around with a fucking tank sized minigun and just smashing grunts with it. i was all like "omg this big mfker is so cool he has a huge minigun..." However Kat's death took me by surprise and i think the shock from it had the most impact on me. First time i played reach, it just came outta nowhere. Thinking we are home free after that elevator and kat was talking then she just all of a sudden gets a round through the head and abruptly stops mid-sentence. That was a "What the fuck" moment for me.
Emile and Jorge are my favorites because ones a psychotic Frenchman with a shotgun, and the other is a bigass tank with machine gun who also cares for people a lot
Kat’s death is too funny. Carter went down with the ship. Jorge died for nothing. Emile died in a cool way. Six died as a lone wolf. And Jun got depression from knowing he was the only survivor.
What if I told you, there’s a decent chance of Jorge being alive?

Every player in reach together for one last Ultimate final stand, we fought the good fight, down to the last bullet , scavenged any weapon we could, our numbers dwindled but we kept fighting, if we ran put of ammo, we used our fists, no sacrifice too great. We made the covies regret hitting reach. In time our names will be forgotten but our battle will always be remembered

@@bag0201 Both were honestly completely random, but Kat’s was completely immersion breaking. It wasn’t like Jorge, or Emile, or even Carter, where each character was killed through personal sacrifice; Kat had her brain deleted despite wearing a full suit of Mjolnir MK V S-III armor, helmet and all.
As a kid I never even understood her death (why should a needle rifle of all things be able to penetrate her armor + shields? Never understood it as a kid and I still kinda dont)
@@Iaminsideyourwalls23 I read somewhere that due to a radiation spike, her shields were downed, but even so, I still don’t see how a needle rifle could pierce standard Spartan armor.
I think Kat’s death was very sad, because it shows that a hero can die just like a normal person. No buildup, no heroic ending, just that they’re there-and then they’re not.
Took a few years for me to understand why kats shield was down... radioactive interference from the glassing taking place right next to them. The whole thing just played out so well.
The final shot of Noble Six's broken helmet is the perfect symbology for the end of the Bungie era of Halo.
I had the opposite reaction to Kat's death. Her death made me cry, cause thats what war is like. One minute your troops are there, the next minute, theyre shot and killed when you least expect it
The fact that canonically, 6 held out for several hours and had the Covenant send a whole army with Wraiths to kill him, truly shows how skilled he was.

Whenever I play The Pillar of Autumn mission in halo reach, I always play a little fanfic in my head that Six and Chief actually get to meet and fight together in CE
It’s not the most crazy thing that could happen since there were in fact other Spartans fighting during the course of the CE story but the game just never tells you that. There’s a whole big reason me and friends and siblings as kids thought Chief was the last spartan or some shit.
Now there’s almost too many Spartans.

Kat’s death was gut wrenching, and she was a perfect character to die first. She’s this level-headed, smart badass who seems like the one who’d persevere through anything but instead she’s shot dead without warning.
Kats was one of the most unexpected, i instantly teared up about the first 4 times

We were not gonna come out on top, Reach was gonna fall
But we made sure there will be victory in the coming events
The reason the Marines and ODST's that came with us couldn't arm the bomb is because the expectation is we were the last 2 humans on that Corvette. Typically Spartans are the only ones left in such an encounter because the sheer number of Covenant is more than enough to exhaust the standard footmen of deployment.
So while you might see Captain Maxwell, Sergeant Thomas, and Lieutenant Wilhelm running into a wall behind you before the cutscene starts, lore wise they would realistically be dead. Of course, this isn't ALWAYS the case, but for the sake of the moment, the plot demanded a sacrifice so great, that no one could stomach it.
saddest part of kat's death is that it could have been 100% avoided if noble team was using their heads and being alert checking their surroundings

6 fought for weeks against the Covenant onslaught all on his own, he was considered lore wise to be the same class of lethal as the Master Chief which for a Spartan 3 makes him one of the most dangerous people in the series that wasn’t a Spartan 2

Kats death was more shocking than sad. Noble team is escaping and then Kat gets shot in the back of the head. No one saw that coming. The death of Jorge and Carter was somewhat written on the wall.

The armour is more than capable of withstanding the fall and even if it couldn’t I’m pretty sure they have some sort of thrust system in them.
DOT (Their AI) stated that he was in critical condition. He would've died of his wounds anyways.
Jorge is by far the saddest death IMO, noble six is by far the only death that makes me feel awesome, watching your character body a bunch of elites only for the screen to cut. It makes me wonder if noble six is alive, but at the same time Its obvious that noble six is dead. The only reason that I used to think was the line for the mission "Spartans never die, they're just missing in action."
