The Omni Block Sling is a great rigging tool that can easily and quickly be set up in the tree. Check out this quick video that shows how to correctly set it up!
Even if you set it behind the splice it will not open up any more than a a tight prussic will slip on a rope. Ive tested this 1000 times over. As long as you tightened up your slip it will not move.
The description in the "technical PDF" is extremely vague but at no point does it condemn rigging or any particular use, and contrary to your point of shock loading it actually had provisions for such events. Could you elaborate further?
Bro that’s all we have ever used it omni blocks! The 2.5 will hold some of the biggest oak hard wooded loads you can imagine. Shock loaded and dynamic forces! I trust this product and we have only broke one! It was very very old and the gate on it broke and swivel! But that was with a extremely large lead off of a oak that was negatively rigged and swung from another tree as the rigging point!
I was told that the Omni blocks are not meant for negative rigging. I think they mention it in one of their newer videos to. Its on the "Omni Block vs mini beast" video from these guys.
How big is the Omni block that’s on this sling? 1.5” ?
Correct!

How did you get the block on the sling?
We receive them spliced in this configuration from the awesome people over at @height.
What size loopie sling is that meaning diameter rope?
The Omni-Block Sling combo comes with a 1/2" loopie sling already on the becket. The max rope diameter allowed in the pulley is 1/2" max.
Omni block is NOT intended for rigging, shock loading, or high speed operation. READ the manual.
