      Hi, I'm 69 and have had COPD for 9 years now. Diagnosed 2 years after i gave up smoking. IF you follow all the advice above, especially about smoking, diet and exercise, you're life will definitely improve. The disease does get worse but you can slow the progress down a lot.

      I'm so sorry. I'm fortunate I don't live in any of the affected areas/countries but can imagine how difficult this must be. Just my neighbours having bonfires can trigger mine and makes breathing with copd much harder so this huge event must be terrible for those already struggling. Hope you're feeling better.

    Why do these types of video's always show fit and healthy people doing all the things advised? Really annoys me. Why not show what the reality is for people with COPD.

      I totally agree, I would love to vacuum all the dust off of my house, I would love to be able to take all my sheets and blankets to the basement and wash them and carry them back upstairs, I understand she means well, for people with severe COPD, all of these chores are very difficult if not impossible, I do thank her for letting us know what triggers are COPD, of course I already knew all of this

    Hello, helpful video, but you should not be encouraging people to eat 'Whole Grains' which recent research has shown to be inflammatory to the body, and should be avoided.

    • @carltaylor4942
      @carltaylor4942 5 місяців тому

      I recently gave up bread and cereals. I started eating muesli for breakfast and wholemeal bread with meals years ago. Recent evidence shows this is, indeed, inflammatory. I simply replaced wholemeal bread with homemade lentil bread and muesli with homemade chickpea flour flatbread. Recipes are everywhere on the Internet. Bonus was I lost almost all my belly fat in a couple of weeks! Both items are very easy to make. If I can do it, anyone can.

      How can you say that? If the vaccinations protect you from the damage flu and/or pneumonia cause on top of COPD then they are worth having. I totally disagree with you. I have had all my flu jabs and 2 pneumonia jabs in the 9 years I've had COPD and have not had any problems at all with either infection. I've had a few lung infections but that's all.

    These tips are absolutely ridiculous! I like people that can breathe normally, telling people that can't, to ride bikes climb mountains, take long walks in the evening when it's damp out and exercise, let alone to push a vacuum around daily, when most of the time it's hard enough to take five steps without stopping to get your breath back no matter how hard you try. I tell people like this woman, to run to the end of a parking lot full speed, then run back full speed, now you do the stuff your telling me to do while breathing through a straw now, let's see how much of your advice you can accomplish. I bet it wouldn't be very much at all. They will never get it, until they experience it themselves. 👎

    No one can tell you how to feel better if you have copd unless they have actually experienced it themselves. There is no cure and dying is your only option. Slowly 😢

    • @SuperDaddyruss

      I feel that. Post diagnosis the depression was crazy the anxiety and panic attacks were constant. The best thing for me has been to get informed. Quit smoking. I'm having problems with dysphagia and its scarry as hell. Nothing is better but it can be managed better. We are dying and we know how we will die barring a accident or catastrophic illness. But we can manage with others like us we can be supportive. Idk I'm rambling but I feel that. I can't stand someone saying just stop and relax..... I can't relax I can't breathe out and when it's bad it's horrifying. When they compare their asthma or their other minor illness it just makes me so angry. Like only people who are living this nightmare are going to get it.

      @carltaylor4942 5 місяців тому +4

      @@111josie1 - I totally agree, Josie. Yes, it's hard to deal with the fact that you have an incurable, terminal disease but I know for a fact that following all the advice given here can really slow down the diseases progress. A lot. Can't stress how important it is to stop smoking, exercise, eat well and avoid all irritants like the plague. It's a hard road to travel and it takes determination but it can be done.
