I just got the BCE! I was gonna wait, but I randomly came across the $250 offer so I pounced on it and got the highest starting limit of any card in my wallet!
Thumbs up.... I think Platinum should be #1, just curious which amex cards offer roadside assistance? I need to look into it just in case of an emergency
How often does the Surpass see elevated offers? It seems like a good keeper card for me, but I’m not sure if it would be better to hold out for an offer or start getting those quarterly credits now. Thank you as always for your help and speedy replies!
Not sure, I don't track offer frequency. If you don't have a need for the card right now, it could be worth waiting longer. If you could benefit from the card soon, then the 130K offer is still very good.
By that I meant the benefit itself accumulates across different sources. If you earn it from the Gold Card, Platinum Card, or other sources, then it all gets added to the same balance.
Would the application for a Schwab Amex Platinum card be a soft pull if you already have Amex cards, much like as if you're applying directly with AMEX?
I’ve had a green card myself already, but am going to apply for the gold. My girlfriend hasn’t had any Amex cards so should she definitely start witj the green or is the 90k SUB and 20% restaurant credit worth skipping the green?
I currently have both the BCE and BCP card and wonder if it’s worth having both or not. I may downgrade the BCP after the first year but then I’d have two BCEs which seems dumb. But I also don’t know what other ok downgrade option there is and I don’t know if I wanna cancel the card
Run the numbers for your own spend to see if it's worth it. I've thought about upgrading my BCE to the BCP, but for now I'd miss the 3% U.S. Online Retail category so I haven't done it.
@@MarkReese yeah I like the online so end of the BCE a lot too. It’s why I want to also try out the BCP but got antsy and just applied for it instead of waiting to product change my BCE. Either way I have no AF until next April so may as well ride out the BCP u til then and maybe downgrade and I just have two BCEs at that point or maybe just cancel it. I’m not sure.
Mark- Thinking of downgrading my Gold to Green. Should I do it before the Amex refreshes to get the $150 AF for an extra year? For context I’m not using my Gold right now due to CFU sign up bonus. I would also add the Amex EDP to duo with the Green at EOY. 99% chance I don’t renew my Gold next March. Thoughts?
I don't have any insight regarding when Amex may refresh their Green / Gold / Platinum Cards. I personally make my strategy decisions based on what options exist, not on what could happen in the future.
I’ve been going back and forth if I should I apply for the green card since it gives you the multiplier when you book flight EVEN through 3rd party unlike gold
Only you can decide that for you! Year 1 can make sense with a big offer, but beyond that, if I only traveled 1-2 times per year, I probably wouldn't keep it long term.
honestly your use doesn't justify it. Be honest it's not a good card. And they have new rules that would now make you ineligible for future sign up bonuses on the green and gold .
Depends on the card & other circumstances. I wouldn't say the Blue Cash Everyday, Blue Cash Preferred, Amex Green, or even Amex Gold to require big spend to make sense.
It's good for the average person who wants to exploit MR transfer partners....but not great. That sub demographic has to be small compared to the simplicity of Chase or Capital One.
great video as usual mark. tyvm.....are you sure that checking for targeted cc offers via cardmatch does not report to the credit bureaus as an attempt by me to get more credit? on occasion i have been told by a cc issuer that the bureaus reported i had a high number of inquiries for credit. just wondered if using cardmatch would appear to the bureaus the same as if i had sought credit by applying for a cc.
Great timing! I was looking for a way to message you, but my message is related to this topic! Any chance you have any data points (or heard anything) about the "Bread Cashback American Express" card? There's not much info on UA-cam about it, but it seems to be a 2% cashback card with no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees. I'm looking to possibly run this in my Amex setup with the Gold card. I have the BCE, but the foreign transaction fees aren't helpful (since I do a lot of work overseas). Amex isn't the card issuer, but I'm wondering if this card will be filed under "obtainable cards with soft pulls" (since Amex lists information about this card on the Amex website and on the Amex app if requested). Any info will is much appreciated! This card could be killer and replace my BCE instantly.
I received an offer to upgrade my Amex Gold to Platinum with 25,000 bonus points offer. Do I keep the Gold.or it’s replaced. I already have the Schwab Platinum

You can 3x your limit around the 90 day mark as well!
Congrats on the approval + highest starting limit!
There’s a 90k offer on the gold and 125k offer for the plat showing up for me on their site.
Better than the standard 60K and 80K 💯
Not calling “restaurants worldwide” 4x category on gold a travel-related category is wild.
To me, 'travel' means airfare, hotels, ground transportation, etc. However, I understand your perspective.
Thumbs up.... I think Platinum should be #1, just curious which amex cards offer roadside assistance? I need to look into it just in case of an emergency
It's my understanding that as of Jan. 01, 2020, Amex removed Roadside Assistance from all cards that had it.
I have 4 out of 8.
Platinum
Gold
BBP
BCED
Underrated Amex Card
Everyday Preferred

@@UTubeVidWatcher - Yep! Plan to post about that one today.
Imo the BCE and BCP card are the best ones. Gold and platinum are good too but too high AF to justify unless you can jump through all the hoops
2 great cards for sure!
How is the uber accumulating, I thought it disappeared every month if not used?
By that I meant the benefit itself accumulates across different sources. If you earn it from the Gold Card, Platinum Card, or other sources, then it all gets added to the same balance.
@@MarkReese oh ok got it. Thanks for clarifying

Likely so. Like with other Amex cards though, it's not 100% guaranteed.

If the goal is to get as many welcome offers along the way as possible, she'll need to go Green > Gold > Platinum.
Do you think that they are going to revamp the everyday preferred card?
At some point, yes. I just don't know when.
Nice, efficient group! 💯😀

A big spender is all relative. You ought to spend much for any of those per year
