Im surprised you believe he's never heard of Pantera😂😂 of course he has, but... nobody wants to watch a reaction of some guy that has been a Pantera fan for years. Yes, he knows the song, no, we don't care, we watch anyways cause we want to feel what it felt like the first time we all heard it for the first time, thats all that matters
I've watching all reactions to pantera since 2018 and I can affirm that you did one of the best reactions I saw. I just love to see a first reaction to them, but I love more when a musician read a stuff and translate. Thank you mate
They're a rock/metal staple. People that don't know them is why most music sucks today. At that concert they blew away most of the bigger headlining bands including metallica
yeah phil’s vocals during this song were basically him not singing just yelling and not saying half the words, i’d recommend listening to the studio version also
A little collision of worlds for you. Dimebag played Dean guitars. Miyako also uses a lot of Deans, including a Dimebag signature model. A few years back, she did a tour of her music room. She mentioned Dimebag and you could tell she holds him in very high regards.
For your talk in tuning, dime and Rex tuned a quarter step down, so it’s Still E standard, but 425hz instead of 440 but on the album they have it set to E standard 435 Hz
Pantera was asked to fill in for a band that canceled this festival 2 days before the event. They got on a plane, flew to Russia, and performed this show on the fly. Imagine showing up on a whim and being this tight in the pocket. Absolutely incredible.
There will NEVER be another band like Pantera people... they were the last of that breed and that era of heavy music. Celebrate them, listen to them, rock with them as if they were still in their prime.. this shit will always be timeless to me. Grew up on this shit.. got to live it along side them... they left everyone for dead..
I saw Pantera twice before they broke up. They're still the most intense band I've seen live. Dime had a *_massive_* influence on guitarists. Miyako (or was it Midori?) of LOVEBITES put him in her top five favorite guitarists.
Some things you might find of interest. The guitar/bass were always tuned to A = 425Hz instead of the typical 440. Dime's amps were solid state and not tube most of his career. He slammed the front of the amp with a parametric Furman PQ4 EQ to boost the mids and then used an MXR 6-Band EQ in the loop after the pre-amp to suck out the added mids.
Pantera is only the greatest metal band in music history! Rest in peace Dimebag Darrell Lance Abbott and Vinny Paul Abbott! The greatest metal guitarists in music history period!
You know, for whatever reason this popped up and I’ve never seen you before, and you know it is always Dime Time 👌🏻 When you said 150% i gave the thumbs up👍🏻
Best metal band, song and performance EVER! This song has everything a heavy metal song could ever hope to have! ❤gives me chills every single time I watch this performance.
Yeah Pantera has always been a favorite of mine. Met them in Rapid City, SD after a show. Broke my nose in the moshpit, twice. Incredible night. Still have the autographed poster I got that night too
Ahh...the Monsters of Moscow 1991, great choice for a reaction Wave! This thing was HUGE!! Pantera along with Metallica, AC/DC, and Black Crows put on a hell of a concert in the USSR. I strongly recommend watching all of the recorded footage from all of the bands at your leisure. There is no denying Pantera's influence over the years, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul (RIP) were definitely an incredible sight to behold. Much respect Wave! 🤘
The original album version of this song has some cool stereo guitar rhythms going on. Obviously impossible to recreate live with only one guitarist. You should check it out if you haven't already.
Tom Morello and Dimebag Darrell popularized the use of the Digitech Whammy pedal in the 1990’s. Dimebag started to use it on Far Beyond Driven album in 1994. Do you know who else loves her Whammy pedal? Clue: it’s an alien from the planet Nicorin. Tomo-Zo!! 👽🎸☂️ Did you know that Tomo-Zo also plays in a band called Hanatera? It’s a Pantera cover band with Hana on drums and vocals, Tomo-Zo on guitar, Koga on bass and Angie on vocals too. They play as Hanatera on Hana’s birthday (May 16th). They have snippets of some of their covers on Hana’s Insta.
Yup, agreed. The best metal music has to breathe. Dime gets all the love in the group, and rightly so, but Vinny Paul was the true beast oof the band IMO. You'll notice Dime does more with less. 2 notes he'll have and everyones head nodding, like the song This Love by Pantera. This Love is a perfect example of slowing it down into a killer groove, check it out. Audio version, NOT video. Cheers from Canada eh. 51st state.
I've been amateur "Studying Music" in general for 30+ years. I'm in the Military so I've come in close contact with all types of people. It's actually been very interesting. Great Review/Reaction! These guys are a Group you need to check out further. If Zakk Wylde loves Dime.....You might want to pay attention
Ahh, you were sat next to me at Anime Matsuri when I was asking Hana from GS about Pantera influence but you didn't know about them at all? I could of talked your ear off about them if I'd realised! Glad you're getting into them now though, Dimebag must always be respected as the absolute guitar gigachad he was
So thought massive amounts of research it has been discovered that once the break down between the solos begins that it is physically impossible for humans to NOT headbang.
When you say that you’re a rock musician, you mean you throw rocks at musical instruments right? There’s no way you would have never heard pantera as an adult human male rock musician
Not fooling anyone by saying you dont know pantera...just for clicks and $ but the thing is no one cares what u think anyway coz everyone knew how good they were from the start so...a bit late
I don’t get any money from this video. It goes to the copyright owner. That’s not true but I’m not gonna waste time trying to convince you. I’m sorry life has made you so cynical. Thanks for the comment anyway ✌️

Pantera the Kings of Groove Metal. RIP Dimebag, 20 years on
I'm honestly surprised you didn't know who Pantera was
Lol, I just saw your comment, and right before that, I was about to say, "There's no way on earth you've never heard of Pantera.

I've seen them twice, myself once in a bar, then again with White Zombie, both shows in Reno.
It’s a scientifically proven fact that the breakdown of Domination is the heaviest thing known to man
*CONFIRMED!*
This is one of those times where the live version is far better than the studio version.
It's also scientifically proven that the breakdown of "this love" is on that same heaviest breakdown Plaine..

Make sure you listen to the album version and not the video. They cut a lot out of the song for the vid.
1 million in attendance!!!!
THIS is the type of shows hardly seen anymore in the US, at least that I know of in Texas. 😢 All the badass shows are overseas now.
This show was over 30 years ago...the location of it has no bearing on your pointless comment.
Considering I’m 48, have been a metalhead for at least 30, been watching live shows since I was 11, yeah I’m think my comment qualifies jackass.

You should listen to Cemetery Gates , but make sure it is the LP version else you’ll end up with the cut version.. which is missing the full scope

Different genre but Trey Anastaso of Phish uses the DT whammy II for everything from little note accents to big walls of pitch shifting sound.
