this game not getting an official VR release is honestly one of the biggest mishaps in recent gaming history. I would have bought a VR set alone just to play this game
TheRamblingSoul i remember reading an article back when the game was released that Alien: Isolation on VR was just so scary that it wasn’t even fun to play. it was just Too Fucking Much. I think that’s a big reason why it didn’t get the release. Because the medium was just starting to get mainstream and they didn’t want to turn people off of it. I am doing my second playthrough right now since it was released, not on VR, and it’s the only game that has ever made me scream aloud in fear. But this is just a theory I have. I don’t necessarily disagree with you.
@@Zecemic you can get into vr for less than 300 dollars with a few Windows mr devices or by buying the original Oculus rift off of eBay. It doesn't cost that much to get into vr, bud.
The one thing I always find so great about Alien Isolation is that in this game you truly get to feel how terrifying and brutal one single Alien is. In Alien Colonial Marines you slaughter hundrets of these Aliens, bigger ones, explosive ones, bosses and more and the aliens feel week and stupid. While Alien Isolation shows how intelligent and interactive the aliens actually are. Amazing Video as always.

The one alien in this game is definitely going to feel that way, because your brain anticipates less of what will happen, and also acknowledging the behavior of this alien compared to other games, it's a splendid execution of the alien genre in video games because it makes you feel so immersed because in colonial marines there is more comfort in your innate ability as the character in the game, but in Alien: Isolation you have nothing more but yourself and the surroundings to go by. And Plus, you can't just shoot your way out. Colonial Marines is still scary nonetheless.

y'know, part of what makes this game so scary is that everything the alien does is designed with the idea of causing terror. terror is a hidden stat that's actually used as a way to manage it's behavior. also the alien only ever teleports for the purpose of 2 cutscenes. besides that it never teleports. ever. it makes its way around the station how it would need to, which can further increase the feeling of terror because it's always watching you, it's never just sitting in non-existence waiting for it's opportunity to exist again.

I honestly think 44 hours is quite a bit for VR imo 🤷♂️ At least I don't think I'd be able to play more that 50 or so hours of VR Skyrim. Rather play on a normal monitor or TV if I wanna go at it for a loooong time.
Remember, he didn’t say “I played quite a lot of Skyrim vr” he just said he used vr for a while, he’s done Skyrim, budget cuts, beat saber, elite dangerous etc.
The way u described the sneaking around in the game reminds me of my everyday experiences with making mr noodles at 3 am hoping that mum dont hear the microwave ( and the casual times i had to actually hide to not get found)
I played this at Eurogamer on VR when it first came out. 5 minutes of game play was as buttock-parpingly scary as you describe. Incidentally, having an Alien ramming into the locked doors of a darkened Game store at 12am whilst I and a few others waited out in the cold on release night, noses pressed against the glass, whispering "Let us in, we're dying out here", was also equally as scary. But only for 30 seconds.
@@MiguelJimenez-cu1in Also correct, but I was reacting to what UpIsNotJump said, which was a jab at Fnaf, so I made an oof on behalf of the fnaf fandom. Your knowledge of what goes on in fnaf is both accurate yet already known, and even then it is also irrelevant to me reacting to a comment I directly quoted from the video.
I tried this in VR, got to the first scene where the alien shows up, and haven't gone back to it. In flat mode, I used to avoid playing it because it was so scary. But I love the Alien universe and this game is incredible. So I was always torn. Best to play on Halloween.
Listen i am a big baby when it comes to horror anything, games movies books and just watching this review makes me wanna shat my pants, and unable to go to sleep at night. Just watching this review gave you anxiety. 10/10.
Over time I got desensitized to horror games since my brain knows its just behind a screen, but VR completely removes that issue. I can safely say Alien Isolation VR is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced, it’s genuinely hard to not just cower in a corner
As a person who got through my first playthrough on hard, sneaking through areas for what feels like hours (although I did actually finish the game quite fast). In vr this would be fucking terrifying and I really want to try it out ;)
I remember seeing the stream on this game and I have a question, did you wait for Halloween to post this or does it take ages to produce/edit and stuff?
You know what's one of the scary Parts of the game ? Xenomorph steps while being on floor. Imagine : You are walking around the station and you hear his steps behind you. You have nowhere to hide. What do you do ?
I could watch any scary movie and never even flinch. Just come at' me brah. Then I started playing horror games, and the decisionmaking really got to me. It slowly broke me down into nevroticism. Then I got a VR Headset. VR Horror is the peak of our civilization.
I remember playing this on the DK2. While the option to run it in VR was not there, it still had the Oculus runtime environment and was perfectly playable with a few tweaks. When the CV1 became available, the game was sadly no longer playable on the newer runtimes required for it. I had no idea people figured out how to make it work on the newer headsets. It's not too surprising that touch controllers don't work the way you'd think they would. Both the game and the VR mode were built long before the idea of touch controllers was even a thing. Even without touch controllers, and playing the game on the DK2 with just a gamepad, I remember it being absolutely terrifying. Pretty excited to try it out on the CV1 now.

"I played quite a lot of vr"
44 hours on skyrim
Well, guess we have different definition of what "quite a lot" is.
I honestly think 44 hours is quite a bit for VR imo 🤷♂️
At least I don't think I'd be able to play more that 50 or so hours of VR Skyrim. Rather play on a normal monitor or TV if I wanna go at it for a loooong time.
@@nycto5335 That's what I said, we have different definition of what "quite a lot" is.
Remember, he didn’t say “I played quite a lot of Skyrim vr” he just said he used vr for a while, he’s done Skyrim, budget cuts, beat saber, elite dangerous etc.
44 hours for Skyrim is generous if you can't ignore just how damn dull it is when it works as intended.
@The Great Saiyan King ✖ skyrim is tRaShhhh try a game made for vr, (pavlov vr)
4:15 i just want to say, that shia labeouf song is an absolute masterpiece.
Running for your life from Shia labeouf
WAIT he isn’t dead! SHIA SURPRISE
The way u described the sneaking around in the game reminds me of my everyday experiences with making mr noodles at 3 am hoping that mum dont hear the microwave ( and the casual times i had to actually hide to not get found)
Ahh, getting the munchies at 3am after a hell long bong sesh, those noodles always scream Eat me... lol
I love him, he’s like a Young Yahtzee Crowshaw
He's like Yahtzee, except UpIsNotJump doesn't just curse and make toilet jokes because he has nothing to say.
@@RangerHouston If you had to make videos as frequently as Yahtzee does, you'd fall back on scatological humor and phallic references as well.
@@soupgirl1864 Depends, his phallic jokes aren't funny at all but the rest of his videos are still entertaining
Happy Halloween unless it’s not Halloween when you see this... but ..... no
Love your vids keep it up :)

“You expect me to hide in a locker?!
Nah fuck that I’m goin out smellin like Chipotle”
That actually got me to laugh out loud
I genuinely hope they manage to mod it further for room scale. That would be truly intense!
I've never wanted to play something more, while simultaneously knowing I would be frozen in place the whole time.
"rather than relying on a mildly scaring monster popping out of a closet every now and again"
Oofs are heard from the fnaf fandom
Only fnaf 4 has an closet
@@MiguelJimenez-cu1in correct but his example that goes along with that statement is literally freddy from fnaf
I know but even then its foxy that is the closet hider
@@MiguelJimenez-cu1in Also correct, but I was reacting to what UpIsNotJump said, which was a jab at Fnaf, so I made an oof on behalf of the fnaf fandom.
Your knowledge of what goes on in fnaf is both accurate yet already known, and even then it is also irrelevant to me reacting to a comment I directly quoted from the video.

me: oh no... THIS IS GOING TO BE ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING
The most scary part of the video for me was when he dropped the vive. I literally jumped
It was sad watching him drop that ancient technology.
*YOUR SHIRT! I NEED THAT AWESOME SHIRT!*
You can get it from teepublic.com
This is one of the nicest thing he's said about a game yet. He forgot the Absolute.
Imagine if they made it support VR officially. With hands and everything... Would be amazing
10:13 and alien isolation gave me ptsd
1:18 that's the face of someone who just put a pillow on the floor to make a joke
“I’ve had worse days”
Me: read the title* i think he is a masochist
Over time I got desensitized to horror games since my brain knows its just behind a screen, but VR completely removes that issue. I can safely say Alien Isolation VR is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced, it’s genuinely hard to not just cower in a corner
As a person who got through my first playthrough on hard, sneaking through areas for what feels like hours (although I did actually finish the game quite fast). In vr this would be fucking terrifying and I really want to try it out ;)
The teddy looks like the demogrogon from stranger things
George Miller Aw yeah I love the demogrogon
I remember seeing the stream on this game and I have a question, did you wait for Halloween to post this or does it take ages to produce/edit and stuff?
It takes ages, i finished it like 20 mins ago ha
@@UpIsNotJump at least it's done, and time appropriate!
Yes
0:29 legit thought that was my window and yelled
Shia lebouf sprinting out of the darkness was terrifying enough just on my cell phone
You’re seriously one of the funniest game reviewers on here! I’m sure you write your scripts but everything feels very genuine and candid.

"You see a table and Climb under"
Idk why but that bugs me. It don't sit right with me chief
8:55 The frustrated academic is strong with this one.
I fell asleep watching this and woke up to my phone falling and you talking about how scary it is
The normal version’s scary enough, you have taken it to a new level
"Drop me & die human....."
I love the Sid portions of ur videos. Great video otherwise. Keep it up 👍
P.S. Happy Halloween!
8:16 Shoulda used the mannequin arms again.
Imagine being this guys students
I need that teddy bear you have in the background on your sofa!
I Shia shat myself that line killed me!!😂
"I had worse days.." :D a bit revealing you old dog! But nice to know you care :D

Well, Matt, i know a certain other Mat who would Pat you on the back telling you otherwise. But, y'know, that's just a theory
You know what's one of the scary Parts of the game ?
Xenomorph steps while being on floor.
Imagine :
You are walking around the station and you hear his steps behind you.
