- Welcome Everyone to my Home! I’m so glad you were able to join us for a tour of Holloman AFB. We are retired Air Force and we understand how important it is to get a glimpse of your new duty station.

I was stationed at Holloman from Sept 1988 - June 1991. While there I also deployed to Desert Shield/Desert Storm for 6 months. I spent a total of 20 years Active Duty. Of all of my assignments, Holloman was the best for me. It's been 31 years since I last visited Holloman and things have really changed! Thanks for the video!
I was stationed at Holloman 1990-1992. Have to say the base doesn't look like a dump anymore -- some nice facilities and so much has changed, although I did recognize the post office!

Really enjoyed the tour and cool to see that F-117 on display,hadn't known the Air Force had donated any to other bases. Holloman is pretty massive!

Yes, Holloman AFB used to have F-117 at one time.
It is such a nice base.

I was stationed at Holloman from June 89 to August 93. Looks like a lot has changed in the last 30 years, for the better. I still remember driving into Alamogordo from the north, through two traffic lights, and past the Walmart, and it was another 8 miles to get to the base. All I could think is what the hell have I gotten myself into. It was the absolute middle of nowhere. From a professional standpoint it was a great assignment, 2 full wings of fighter jets and they flew the crap out of them. I was an air traffic controller and it was probably one of the most challenging ATC environments in the USAF. From a personal standpoint, I absolutely hated the place. Housing was awful, base facilities were pretty bad too. Alamogordo had nothing, the mall was half empty, and few decent restaurants. If you wanted anything resembling civilization you had to drive 60 miles to Las Cruces, or 90 miles to El Paso. I will say the mountain towns of Cloudcroft and Ruidoso were pretty nice, but long drives. The overall best part of New Mexico were the Hatch green chili's, picked and roasted fresh on the side of the road! Made for some amazing food!
The Air Force has put about a zillion dollars into HAFB over the last 30 years. Cannon and Kirtland, too. Everything you hated has been replaced. I would call all of them "model installations". They are a far cry from when you and I served (I retired in '94).

My husband was an ATC, also USAF. He was a Squadron Superintendent at Holloman AFB along with that.
He enlisted in 1988, and retired as a Chief 30 years later. Nearly 6 years ago.

Such a cool idea for a tour!! As a commoner, I will probably never get to see the inside of an Air Force base, other than what you can see at an airshow. This was so fascinating to get to see!! Especially the homes and neighborhoods!!! And the schools!!! Seriously so cool. And I had not idea there was a mini shopping mall! You should totally do more of these tours!!!

I loved being at Holloman in 81/82 in the 49th AGS/7th AMU (the Bunyaps) working the F-15 A and B models. My wife and I visited Holloman in 2021 I had hoped to relive some memories but sadly it had changed so much there were no memories to relive. The Commisary/BX and HQ were still in the same place but my dorm, chow hall, pool and shop were gone and relocated. We still enjoyed being there but my main purpose of going was in vain. It was the same for downtown Alamogordo but with 40 years of change my hopes were too high.

I really like these videos. Seeing all the planes and the tour is just amazing! Cameraman and I live about 10-15 minutes away from Westover AFB and we (especially Cameraman) normally run out and see what type of plane is flying over the house, especially when we have our yearly air shows. I can't even imagine how cool it must be to actual fly in one of these planes! Wonderful share! ❤ Have a super weekend kind friend. Merri :)

Holloman AFB is really great!
Such a lovely, family friendly place to be! The weather is wonderful, and there is so much to do in the area! The new schools on base are fabulous too!
If you are moving there, or passing by, I can assure you that it is a wonderful place to be! Stay positive, and enjoy it!
I truly do appreciate your kind comment. I have other videos about the area as well. Alamogordo, and Fort Bliss. It is only about an hour from Holloman, and a super fun Army Post with a great PX, and outdoor shopping area with playground.

Wow! Everything has changed since I was stationed there some 40+ years ago. I remember when the overpass was built outside the main gate.
It is a fabulous Base now.

Seriously tho, there’s nothing fun to do, it’s all dirt sand, no green or anything to be seen, it looks sad, what if I want it to rain? What if I wanna go to a amusement park, roller coasters and all that? Lakes anything nothing?
