Haytham was the character that really started to make me question about the Assassins and Templar. He is the one that truly believes in the Templar's goal in upholding order and doesn't come out extremely excessive like real villian. In the books, he learns of his Assassin heritage yet still believes in the Templar's goals. Most of all, he was right in his argument with Connor as the Patriots were successful in liberating America from England but becomes tyrants and oppressors themselves. In my opinion, Haytham should've been the protagonist we play as a Templar to see their perspective, not Shay. Ubisoft should've made us see through Haytham why the Templars' actions are justified and the Assassins' as dangerous. Instead, we got a game like Rogue whose story is a generic good-versus-bad plot, only the evil masterminds are the guys we grew to love and admire throughout the franchise.
I honestly think Cleopatra was a great villain. Kind of like aspasia but tbh more unexpected and made me a bit more angry because the whole game we helped her
its not that surprising though. Throughout most media platform and history book, she was portrayed as a villain and a cunning woman with immense beauty. I was half expecting a character shift the entire game
Starrick was a memorable one ngl. The fact that he was the only fictional main villian actually gave him a lot more meaning than I thought, since he was basically "nobody" in history, Ubisoft made him look like a powerful shadowy figure, controlled everything from behind the scenes
@@keybae23 Good for you. However rpgs aren't my thing so I always have have to relearn moves. Especially since Syndictae, Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla have tweaks in their game mechanics.
The beauty of Starrick's office is the non-descript yet vaguely familiar outline of a Londonian street just beyond the stained glass. He is not hiding hundreds of miles away but in the very heart of London. Just as elusive as the twins' hideout. Neither the twins or Starrick have the faintest idea how close they physically are to each other.
Yeah, Haytham is definitely the best villain. The best villains are the ones were you can relate to them and understand their point of view. I do hate Connor and AC3, but I was rooting for Haytham the whole time cause that rooftop scene single-handedly made all of us question if the Templars are really the bad guys. Also he’s very regal.
Agreed - Connor and the Assassins in AC3 are purely dogmatic, blindly supporting the Patriot cause purely out of adherence to the vague notion of freedom, and in fact consciously ignore the crimes committed by George Washington and the Patriots to that end. Haytham and the Templars in contrast are extremely pragmatic, loyal to neither the British nor the Patriots, but instead trying to forge their own path to try to prevent unnecessary bloodshed through control. I've said it in a previous post but I'll say it again: historical evidence shows that the American colonists were in fact worse than the British when it came to "The Native Question" - in fact, one of the motivations behind the independence movement was the colonists' desire to expand further westward, which the British signed a decree to prevent. That is what was meant by "Freedom for the pursuit of happiness" - the freedom to settle the land without any restrictions. Alas, by blindly supporting the Patriot cause, Connor and the Assassins essentially facilitated the native genocide. The Templars, in contrast, wanted to establish order by controlling the land to prevent such things from happening. Hence, I firmly think that Haytham and the Templars were the good guys in AC3.
I don't hate AC 3 or Connor tho tbh. And seems like the 2 best villains of the story were playable. There's Haytham and Shay. And we never really got a conclusion. It would be interesting to have him fight Connor AND/OR Arno. Those 2 got a connected history with him.
One reason that I love Germain so much is because he has THE BEST drip out of any templar, that hooded templar coat he wears at the end is just soooo beautiful.

I like that Achilles and Haytham literally switched spots as main antagonists and deuteragonists in AC3 and AC Rogue. It really showed how one can be "good" or "evil" depending on different prospectives.
Belgium during WW1 or when it split from The Netherlands could be a great setting for assasins creed. The entire belgian coastline and neighbouring cities was a main battleground for WW1 and the split from The Netherlands in 1830-1831 would have an interesting political part which could hold a lot of ground for an amazing Templar villain.
