We hope you enjoyed the exceptional design and story behind Zed House by RTA Studio. The architectural brilliance of the “Z” floor plan, and the fusion of the old and new, truly makes this home a unique masterpiece. Zed House is featured in the upcoming Issue No. 13 of our print publication, which is available for pre-order through our website - thelocalproject.com.au/publication/issue-13/
This is not a house frozen in time; it's a vibrant, living entity that wears its history with a cheerful flair. What I love most is that it serves as a sanctuary where the occupants can immerse themselves in its warmth and character. It is not designed to be a static exhibit merely for the pages of a magazine or the pixels of a website.
Speechless. So smart, and particular, and creative. Totally not what I expected of a Z shaped house. I love this new trend of going back to sunken living rooms. Wow. This was Eclectic in the best sense of the word.
Now this is how to do modern right. I love the calming feel. Lots of homes have wood and high ceilings but are very “eh”. What a thoughtful architect to come up with such a beautiful inviting home. Other things I really appreciate are all the spaces for art and that the outdoors are visible in so may spaces which I usually see in U shaped homes which are one of my favorites…when I see them. Thanks for bringing us into such a wonderful space, I need every little bit of good I can get these days.
This is how homes need to be designed. I could live here and never leave the premises while not feeling confined in the least. This home has a soul to be shared with others, especially a family.
Fantastic home. I love the mix between the bricks and concrete. On top of that - and by far what I loved the most - all those curved walls (including that beautiful blue bathroom) and round windows/skylight are IMO the reason this home stands out so much. I'd loved to see that beautiful kitchen island in more detail, though (a missed opportunity to showcase an interesting design).
A lot of film makers/producers get the audio wrong. Audio should add to the film, not be too loud as it serves as a distraction. I'd rather the audio be very quiet than closer to the volume of the narration.
Love the design and shape and overall feel of the home, but a little too much red brick for my liking. Reminds me of my red bricked elementary school> I prefer a quieter brick like off white, sand coloured, or black even.
Stunningly beautiful home. I love the mix of materials, textures, and the use of natural light. One possible concern: There is a lot of brick in this home, and brick does not fare well in earthquakes. Is the brick more for decoration and not structural support?
Decorative bricks like these are a cladding. There would be a timber or steel frame structure anchored to the substrate, inside the exterior and interior cladding, as well as insulation.
I have such mixed feelings about this. I love a lot of architecture here, the circular doors and windows, the kitchen area and tall ceilings letting in natural light, that bathroom shot with a circular window and blue tile. But, overall, this doesn't create a feeling of a home. It looks more like museum. I found the brick and concrete a bit overbearing, a bit too heavy for that space. They said how they tried to soften it with interior decoration but, to my eye, it was not achieved. Still, if clients love it, it's a great example of architecture. The Z form is surely striking, and it sits next to a beautiful garden with a tennis court and a swimming pool...
On se sent apaisé comme devant un tombeau; rien ne dépasse, tout en angle, je ne ressent que l’absence de vie. Lisse et froid. Ou est la fantaisie de la vie ?la couleur?

As an Aussie, I always say, the Kiwi's have the talent to build anything with such thought, character and precision. This is one of them. Well done!
The brickwork 🧱 is eye catching

I love the way this guy articulated himself - compression and release 👌
Wow! I walk past this house daily and have been dying to glimpse it. It's truly amazing! Hands down, one of the best homes in Christchurch.

I love the use of concrete throughout the house. Its one of my favorite materials.

It's really an amazing feat to be able to have living spaces and bedrooms in the same time zone, given the size of the house
Beautiful detailing - the brickwork in particular is stunning! Well done all involved
This is a very fun house with an unprecedented ruggedness designed to last. Perfect execution!
this is an impeccable home
The Local project hasn't fail to amaze me on how they present their content here in UA-cam. 😉⭐
Really digging the mix of Usonian and contemporary architecture here
Very creative. The architecture that has popped up after the Chch earthquake is pretty amazing.
The shower was amazing! It would have been nice to get more info on the rebuild for earth-quakes and flooding. You skimmed over that completely.
This reminds me of my childhood school.
The background music was fantastic here!

The house is really cool and I really like your videos too! 😍 This time the music seemed a bit too loud. But that could just be my feeling. 😄

Your videos are so calming and inspirational, a form of art on their own! I'd love to know the song name on this one!
Doorway looks like a Mexican restaurant in north Hollywood. 😆
🤩🤩🤩
You need to read the book first to understand this house 🏡
Im not feeling this one.

more info on sports court , pool the whole outdoor experience
This looks like a school
Not very homie vibes more artsy
pone un arbol culiadoooooo!
Looks like a school 🤷♂️
I don’t like it. There is no nature on this lot, on one side a plastic tennis court and on the other one a supermarket parking lot.
