Personally, I adored Rita and Runt. They and Pinky and the Brain were my favourite segments after the ones with the Warners (Yakko was always my favourite of the trio). The Hippos, however, REALLY got on my nerves. They dragged down every segment they were in. I liked the episode retelling Noah and the Ark at first - then they turned up and ruined the segment.
It's a fun show. Though I can see how a lot of the references were very "at their time" and didn't make as much sense today. Still a classic. Though I am more of a fan of the show's cartoon antics and think the slapstick violence, the catcalling and dirty jokes is part of the charm. It's well aware of how annoying it's own characters are.. not to the audience though.
I had no idea that Tom Ruegger went onto to create Pac-Man and the ghostly adventures That explains why the humor of it seems so familiar and now I realize why and that alone makes me appreciate that show and it's legacy all the more
I like the Pinky and the Brain spin off, but a spin off Rita and Runt series would've been so cute! Not as a wacky off the wall comedy though, I think if they were to ever get their own show it'd be better off as an adventure/musical series, with some jokes here and there but not afraid to get sombre, like their segments.
@@galacticglamourgirl incase your wondering, no I dont hate the pinky and the brain spinoff seeing as I never watched it. I'm just saying seeing as the rita and runt segment had more to offer for a spinoff
Expected to contest some of your opinions on the individual sketches, but ended up agreeing with every single one. Warners rock, the Squirrels were very funny and versatile. Pinkie is my little ray of sunshine. But the dog, chicken, and even the pigeons for me personally, wore thin after a while. More variety would've meant spacing everything but the Pinky and Warner segments out over the course of the run, which might've left a better impression and made a welcome surprise instead of making me groan each time and want to see something wackier and more unpredictable from my favorites
Animaniacs is definitely a Prue work of art and it is definitely a masterpiece of a show that has stood the test of time my favorite characters from the show where Rita and Runt and to this day they are still my favorite characters I also love The Warner siblings aka Wakko Yakko and Dot and also Slappy and Skippy I also love how brain's voice was inspired by Orson Wells not sure why but that alone makes him such a likeable character same with pinky and his cheerful personality
I'm late to this video and I agree with your rankings mostly.... except Drive Insane is the perfect Warners cartoon to me. So quotable and a clever spin on a tired premise. The fake French film, the snack stand conversation, the odd torment that the universe puts Dr. S through for just trying to have a nice date. It's very Kafkaesque.
Whilst it's a little dated overall (with the constant pop culture references and the catcalling), and not every character segment was good, I still think this is one of the best cartoons ever made. The lows are pretty low, but what's good (The Warners, Pinky and the Brain, Slappy, etc) is often not only phenomenal but iconic. This show definitely deserved to get a reboot, which is also an excellent cartoon, and honestly improves some aspects of the original series (less catcalling, Dot is given more to do, the PatB segments in general I think are better, etc).
Personally I’m not really a fan of Looney Toons or any of those slapstick cartoons, (I respect the opinions of the people who like them though, so don’t @ me!) but I have to admit that I actually thought Animaniacs was good! It might have had it’s issues that were kind of off putting to the point where I couldn’t consider it one of my favorites, but it was still enjoyable enough to keep me coming back to it for a while. I’ll have to go back and rewatch some episodes when I get the chance. Also I agree with you on Buttons and Mindy, that’s my least favorite segment in the series too.
I was wondering if My Gym Partner’s A Monkey has been on your radar, I have a massive feeling that you won’t enjoy it as most people nowadays don’t. I personally enjoy it and believe that if you get past the pretty unremarkable and unfocused Season 1, the show greatly improves in Season’s 3 and 4.
I really don't appreciate your anti-American quips on practically every single one of your videos. There is no space on UA-cam for xenophobic content creators.
Just because he said the declaration was American propaganda? That's not xenophobic, it's just poking fun at how patriotic America is. It's true, I find a lot of American shows show off about being American. I don't find British shows doing it.

I still stand by that rita and runt had more spinoff potential than pinkey and the brain

Do you plan on checking out the reboot? Would love to hear your opinion on it, even though your channel mainly focuses on cartoons up to 2010.

Video Store is based on a Looney tunes short Book Revue

Really good review

will there be another review
20:37 it has a lot of reference of Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" movie
I do like Wakko's Wish, but IMO Animaniacs jumped the shark after season three.
My dad have seen those good feathers shots before he seen good fellas movie
The hip hippos is like the Addams
When watching the entire show on dvd (excluding the insult remake) then i found slappy the squirrel funny...

Excellent reboot?
Spielberg didn't direct back to the future

Wacko is the best character.

The word “xenophobic” gets thrown around so much that it no longer means anything.
Just because he said the declaration was American propaganda? That's not xenophobic, it's just poking fun at how patriotic America is. It's true, I find a lot of American shows show off about being American. I don't find British shows doing it.
