learning how to take apart a fat quarter (or half yard) into the common pre cuts was a huge help in my quilting life. (and for other uses since a lot of craft and even garment stuff can use those sizes) its often worth it to pay the "yardage premium" to get the size i need of the whole line, rather than paying for less per yard, but having to buy a lot of yardage... (since not many quilt shops will cut a "few inches" off a dozen fabrics. assuming they even HAVE more than a few fabrics of any line!)
however its been well worth it to pre cut a lot of my stash down into "closest pre cut size" whether thats a fat quarter, or down to a 2.5 inch square... just to have them ready to use
and yes, cutting jelly roll (or binding) strips, or half square triangles! out of my assorted stash fast is what i do with my accuquilt these days,

This is an Olfa rotary cutter. I have it in all the colors (teal, pink, purple, red...)

I just saw your video. Why are the charmcks, layer cakes, and jelly rolls cut with pinking? The 5" squares, 10" squares, and 2 1/2"strips only allow an 1/8" seam after allowing for the 1/8" pinked edge. What's up with that? That's why cut all of mine using the Accuquilt or a square ruler.

I'm pretty sure they do it that way to prevent fraying. If they cut with the grain, the pre-cuts would fray. This quickly makes them look old and worn on store shelves. They could shrink-wrap the precuts to prevent this, but that creates extra plastic waste, is an extra step, and makes it so that customers can't flip through and see all the fabrics on Layer Cakes and Charms. ❤️

Good basic info every quilter should know. Too bad the audio is so harsh and tinny sounding.

Why would my email address be invalid?

Oh no! Did you type it in correctly? Is there an extra accidental space at the end (or beginning?) Those are the only things I can think of...

Thank you very much. Yes, a space at the end.
