No, you don’t. It could be very humid and the winters can be extremely cold. However, you won’t find any Italian restaurant or Italian pastry bakery that beats what you can find in Providence at least years ago that’s how it was.
I am from Rhode Island and had no idea Bernatex was in RI. I’m currently living in Northern California 😮but moving back to RI in September. I would love to come visit this warehouse. I was always a commercial banker but now I just quilt!!

Benartex fabric is one of my favorites. I love the quality of the fabric and so I have no worries in buying it. I love the fact that they show what is in a pre-cut. With others pre-cuts you have to thumb through to see what you are getting, or just take a chance on it. That is why basically I don't order pre-cuts anymore. I prefer to buy yardage, but ordering on-line is getting strange. Some businesses say it is cotton, and then I get it and it is a cotton blend. That is one of the reasons I have only a few manufactures that I like, and Benartex is one of them. Great job with the video, and it makes me want to go shop for fabric!

I grew up in Rhode Island and also live there now. My landlord, growing up, was a boss dyer at one of the mills in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. His company went to Lowell, Massachusetts and he worked there for several years. When he was laid off, he went back to work for the same mill, where he started at in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.. He died in 1971. It is good to see some of the mills still being utilized. Some have been torn down or lost to fire. Some have now been made into condos.

I want scrap bags of those selvages they cut off while sizing the fabric for the pre-cuts! what do you say Brody? I know they would sell. Many many quilters save the selvages until they have enough to make fabric from them. Don't forget me when you have your first selvage sale!!!!!!
I’ve loved factory tours ever since the Sweet Sweater Man(Fred Rogers) took us to see how crayons were made. Benartex is a favorite manufacturer of mine. Loved the line Palette Impressions ….still looking for some. Hint. Hint. When I was a kid, the knitting mills in Fall River MA used to have a day when they sold “ factory seconds”. That’s how my mom kept five kids in warm clothes. Is that done anymore at fabric places? I would drive to Rhode Island for a Benartex factory sale! Many thanks.
