I am a striopologist. I love this ruler. It makes cutting a breeze. You should have told people about the quarter inch mark to cut quarter inches. Great job, and great ruler. It is well worth the price.
There is so much more I could have included... like turning the ruler and cutting squares with it! Or using the ruler when cutting different sized strips for a pattern ... I'd have an epicly long video if I tried to include all the ways this ruler can be used! 😆🥰
Canny you do everything on the xl in place of the other ones she has listed on here ? Can’t you square just as well !? I thought the xl is the two rulers made on one but larger in case you wanna do more ? Can’t you use this for tiny blockes just as well ? I am trying to buy the very basic rulers to do about any job that I’d need instead of buying every ruler ! I think the new 12/1/2 by 24 1/2 and this ? Would you recommend any others please ? Ty
@@tonyastokley5165 the XL is larger, so it cuts larger fabric. But it also has a larger price tag. Most people would probably be fine with the regular sized one (not the mini, not the XL). But the XL will cut more strips at once and square up larger blocks, so it may be worth the extra investment if you think you'll want those features.
@@CarolinaMoore okay I wanna be able to quilt I’m learning and I’d like to get the very basic rulers that I’d need ! This takes away tons of tools it seems for one price ! Add up the every size square ect to me anyways ! ? @@tonyastokley5165 rulers depend a lot on the kind of quilts you will be making. If you're just doing strips, this would be your main ruler. I'd also add a 6.5 x 24 ruler which is super versatile, and you'd use when squaring up your quilt top. And, there is a ruler called the "Quick Trim" ruler which is 3.5 x 12.5 and much easier to use for small quick cuts because it isn't as bulky. Hope that helps!
Thank you Gudrun from GEDESIGNS these rulers are awesome....you figured out and made these to make our lives so much easier!!!! Carolina Thank you for showing how these rulers work for people who don't have them yet!!!
Just found your channel by accident while looking for info on a cricut for my daughter. Best demos on the different rulers I've found! Made my year so far just finding out about Spot on Dots!!! Looking forward to watching more of your videos! Thanks!
Oh yay!! I'm so glad! And thanks for your lovely comment!! I do videos fairly regularly and try to have a new one every week or so (though it isn't a perfect system) and have a new ruler every month! 🥰
Thank you! We buy estates and often there are sewing supplies, so I'm amassing a large collection of quilting rulers and so many of them I have no clue what they're for and this was one of them - how exciting I can't wait to go cut strips! :)
Oh! What an interesting job!! If you ever have a ruler you can't identify, feel free to send me a photo. I don't know all of them, but if it is one I don't know I can ask around. 🥰
Thank you for this video! I've been agonizing over whether to invest in this ruler or not. Still unsure but looks like the Squared is a reasonable place to start. Yay! I'm gonna get me a new ruler!
Yay for new rulers!! This comment made my day!! 🥰 The medium (stripology squared) is a great place to start. If you love it, you can get the bigger one so you can cut more strips without having to re-position. Cutting yardage with the mini would be hard ... so I think the squared is an excellent choice. 🥰
The biggest tip is to keep your rotary blade straight up-and-down. You don't want it at an angle where it is scraping across the ruler. And if you're pressing too hard, change your blade. A fresh blade should make it easier.
Yup! These are two Ikea pegboards. They have long hooks for multiple rulers, and there are file-folder style wires for placing larger rulers and ones without drilled holes.
You're welcome! It is pretty magical! It cuts tons of strips lickety-split. And I realized as I was editing the video that I didn't even share how you can cut SQUARES with the Stripology ruler!! Guess I'll need to do a followup video...
Hi! Do I show a machine in this video? I have several machines. Often in my videos I sew on a Baby Lock Jubilant. Her name is Saturday. She is a great machine for lots and lots of stuff. The machine on my sewing table is my Baby Lock Aria named Sunday. She is a little fancier and is usually my go-to machine when I'm not filming. Sometimes you'll see my Baby Lock Sashiko machine in videos. She is a specialty machine specifically for the Sashiko stitch. Her name is "Days that end in y" So, I sew on three machines. Because of their names I can say I sew on "Saturday, Sunday, and Days that end in y." 😆
If you could have any ruler would this be it? Besides the 6x24? Also how are there mats? I’m new to this world and need a mat. The fishers one is yuck.
Oh man! That is a tough question! I want ALL the rulers!! 😆 Though, for a beginner I like the 6x24, and then a 12.5" square. That will let you square up quilt blocks up to 12" finished. If you still have some budget, Creative Grids has a "Quick Trim Ruler" it is smaller and so easier to use when sub-cutting. My pink mat is a Wescott mat. I don't know where I got it, but it has lasted for years (though I might have warped it with my iron, so I do need to replace it). My grey one is one I was given by Cricut, and my green one was sent by Accuquilt. Creative Grids makes a mat, but I have not tried it yet. It is supposed to be awesome with the stripology ruler, though. Hope that helps!

I have all of the Stripology rulers and use them all the time.
They are so useful! And honestly, the size means they can't hide from me. 😆
Thanks to you 🥰 & the creator’s, I now own this ruler. Can’t sit to try it out.
It is such a fun ruler! I've cut so many strips with it!! ❤

I loved the details of video..I clicked on bio and just got another video..what's your website? I loved the video..
Where can I buy one?
My blog is www.AlwaysExpectMoore.com
The shop is www.CarolinaMoorePatterns.com
Which ruler would I use to cut small half square triangles?
Hmmmm... there are so many options! How many, and how small?
Another alternative would be triangle paper... that's great for making lots of HSTs!
I own one but struggled with getting my cutter to “roll” down the lines. Any ideas for help?

Can you tell me what you use to store your rulers? I see it hanging on the wall. It seems like a good solution
Yup! These are two Ikea pegboards. They have long hooks for multiple rulers, and there are file-folder style wires for placing larger rulers and ones without drilled holes.
Which is the best one to get (most useful) Spripology XL or Stripology Square ?
You can do the most with the XL. But if the price is too high, you can do almost as much with the Square.
I didn’t even know that ruler existed thank

Do you need a special rotary cutter for these rulers?
Nope! Just the regular 45mm rotary cutter work great.

Doesn’t this ruler square up to 12.5 blocks?
@@katieterakami7131 yes it does! I have never gone hands-on with a newbie with this ruler before, though. So I don't have any experience there.
