I had the honor (thanks to Tesla Belgium!!) of trying the absolute first TESLA MODEL S PLAID with the 20K€ factory CARBON CERAMIC BRAKE KIT!!!!
That kit include:
Big front and rear carbon ceramic discs
Set of high temperature brake pads
Braided brake lines
High temperature fluid
And let me tell you guy, this is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ANIMAL compare to the stock car!!
First the top speed is unrestricted with that kit and i reached couples of time....350KM/H yes 350 (speedo) which is somewhere in between 320/330km/h GPS on autobahn test (video will be shared soon)
Second i had the chance to bring the car for one full day on CIRCUIT de BRESSE in France for a real condition test, that is a technical small track which is normally great for small car like caterham, ariel atom or other lotus car and a TRUE NIGHTMARE for heavy cars and the brakes!!!
Well after couple of laps i just did the track record for a street legal car on non semi slick tire here :-))) Tire Original Michelin PS4S on original dimension 265/35/21 front 295/30/21 rear and original TESLA WHEELS
the laptime (in this video): 1min33.610 is absolutely insane for this kind of big car who is totally not adapted for this track!!
For give you an idea, i did here 1min31.70 with the gt2 rs MR on used cup 2 R and more interestingly 1min37.40 with the cayman 718 gts MR with also Michelin PS4S.
This car with proper brakes is an absolute beast, i cannot believe, it has been that fast here, it is unbelievable.

@@JACKOFALLFATES Yes maybe, but the two cars are not at all the same utility, you can do 1000km with the model S in the greatest comfort with 2 children in the back and suitcases. Which will be much more complicated with the GT3. You can't seriously compare these two cars.

I think people don't understand how important brakes are on track.

@@alexz8373 c’est une erreur de pilotage, le freins moteur était réglé sur 100% lors des test au castellet et dans cette courbe c’est tres important de garder un filet d’accélérateur tout du long et bien elargir la trajectoire en sortie en allant sur le vibreur.
Dans les deux cas ils sont trop a l’intérieur,
Ils ont donc un angle de volant trop important et en plus il relache l’accel (donc freine la voiture) et ca cause directement un survirage.
Ils ont d’ailleurs eu de la chance de pas faire un 180° et se retrouver contre le rail intérieur (un classique sur cette courbe)
La pression pneumatiques devaient etre un chouille élevé aussi…

Thank the car god's that Tesla is giving the carbon ceramic brake option. That is what that car needed to see what the full potential come out. I think Tesla took the idea from Unplugged Performance. I am finally glad to also see that the proper brakes are now fitted to a rather "beefy" vehicle. Can't wait to see what other craziness the new Tesla model S Plaid can do with the CCBK :3
100% positive that Tesla had intended from the start to have racing breaks on the Plaid, but my guess is that last minute there was some supplier issue and they had to change suppliers and recertify and that takes a long time for top end parts.

I'm pretty sure that this thing could do 370kmh with no speed limitor and enough room, math adds up to about that figure meaning that roadster with 4 of these incredible motors and slightly different gearing ratios could do like 300mph while being quicker than Nevera - nuts

How is the suspension on the Plaid, usable?
My Model 3 gets a bit uneasy in fast Autobahn corners, heared a KW3 suspension does wonders, but the car is already pretty low for my likings i think 13-14 cm ground clearance when stock 2-3cm less wouldn't be good for everyday use don't wanna scrape everywhere.
Honnestly the steering wheel is ok, just the turn indicator is the problem
The suspension is very good and a classic double wishbone feeling, that give a lot of confidence and feeling, not sharp as a kw competition or ohlins, but for the daily car it works great in every condition
how was the performance of the brakes when cold? and for normal street highway driving?
Same confort than oem with firmer pedal and 20% less braking distance
In my experience CCBs heat up super fast, my ccb model s bites really hard after one hard stop, 100mph to 30mph

Crazy laptime for such a heavy car. Do you think 2sec faster with cup2r is possible? Also do you know when the break kit rollout begins in europe plz? can you do gps log 200-300kph plz? :D
Cup 2 r does't exist in the oem dimension, we must downsize to 20' wheels to get the size, if so i think CUP2 normal will be more appropriate because the R is too soft
on sidewall, or the best for this car would be the pirelli trofeo R and so i think 1.5 secs quicker with cup2 and 0.6/0.90 sec quicker with the pirelli i think...

Je vais finir par mettre la mienne sur la piste :D T'as changé les freins sur la tienne? J'hésite entre le kit simple de mountain pass (disques) et le kit avant de Brembo à 5K (etrier/disque/plaquettes/durites). Je pense que cela doit suffir. En tout cas le comportement est top! Tu roules avec quelle répartition avant.arriere?
vas y essaye c'est exceptionnel, c'est en tout cas bien plus kiffant qu'une M4 CSL/M5 cs 😄
Sur cette journée j'ai fait aussi quelques tours avec la mienne qui a le kit 400mm de mountain pass avec plaquettes carbotec xp10, liquide rbf 750 et le brake brace.
Le feeling est equivalent au ccb de tesla, pour juste 5x moins cher 🤗
repartition 50/50 regen 70% et traction control -10
par contre batterie overheat après 10min malheureusement et tu perds direct en puissance comme sur les model 3, mais ca laisse le temps de faire 6/7 tours de petit circuit et un de Nurburgring 😎
tu te rends compte mon meilleurs temps en ariel atom y'a 8ans c'etait 1min34 sur bresse 🤪🤪

@@sebastianvittel74 Oui c'est dingue, même si c'est pas vraiment comparable en terme de pilotage/sensations. J'ai échangé avec Sasha Anis de Mountain pass. C'est vraiment bien ce kit 400mm avec les etriers d'origine? T'as l'avant et l'arriere? Ca semble un bon compromis, ce que je cherche surtout pour la route c'est de l'attaque dans la pédale car la faut vraiment appuyer fort.

@@Peter.S96 carbon brakes the two biggest advantage consist to not make any dust and offer constant feeling in any conditions, that is very good because you always have to give same pressure at the pedal and that is very pleasant and give you confidence

With ps4s tire we can only expect 4/5 secs better because it will be just better brakes feeling
If better tire like trofeo R pirelli or sport cup 2 we can expect 6/7 secs better
So the car with this setup somewhere in between 7:15/7:20 on complete lap with a pro driver and full tesla assistance
Even with more aero, race suspensions, 100kgs less etc the car cannot go under 7min because it is too heavy, under 7min, only a car under 1900kgs can do it

In Germany ceramic brake kit should be standard, as we always drive cars top speed on the autobahn.
Stock brakes are optimized for cold stops from high speeds, like on a highway. Track requires different brakes that are better when hot but aren't usually as good when cold
That yoke looks like a recipe for disaster on track, if you need to apply more counter steer you run out of yoke :))
Is why you must drive smooth and then everything is alright 😀
Seems to work just fine in a pros hands even at triple digits speeds off a curb and full opposite lock engaged. 👍🏻

Mais ici l'exercice est intéressent dans le fait d'avoir une familiale complètement utilisable au quotidien qui est capable d'accélération dingue (ca on le savait tous) mais surtout démontrer qu'elle est stable, très très saine en comportement, avec les freins qui vont bien bah ca freine et au final capable de faire un chrono de folie meme si c'est pas du tout l'objectif de cette auto.

The yoke is scary, a tighter track I could foresee a situation where the arms cross so tight that counter steering becomes almost impossible.
Tighter Track?! This is not carting.. de Bresse has SEVENTEEN corners in 3000m on 12m track width - you won't find many drastically tighter real race tracks.
The tightest hairpin at de Bresse (1:25 here) has a (GMaps measured) outer diameter over the apex of 32m meters. That's within half a meter of the diameter of the Löws/Fairmont hairpin in Monaco..

I've never heard anyone call the Plaid boring around a track. In fact, I've heard the opposite from professional drivers. Have you driven a Plaid or rode in one as a passenger? Have you driven a Plaid around a track? I've seen many videos by professional drivers who have driven the Plaid and not 1 has ever said it was boring. Only butthurt people say that with zero experience driving one.
