    Ooooh I wish we had a tub! I wear an old pair of Vans then wash my feet at the end. Great transfer!!

    It's also a good idea to use either a folded towel or cushion to sit on. The tub is hard and can cause a pressure sore.

    Thanks for the video man. My gf is a t2 paraplegic. I dream of getting a bathtub in our new appartment. Haven't told her yet.
    Your vidoe gives me confidence.

      There's no reason not to! I actually find the bath easier to use than most showers (unless they are a roll-in shower in a wet room with alot of space). If she struggles with the transfer, there are a lot of things you can buy to help (bath bench, bath step etc.). Good luck 😃

    It helps when there is water and bubbles in the bath.

    Thank you so much. I was literally stuck in the bath, frantically looking for ways to get out before I came across this video. After two failed attempts, I got my partner yo hold my feet and was able to do it 🎉

    Thank you so much. Incredibly helpful. My brother is a recent paraplegic and I am searching for an apartment for him. what is better - a shower or tub? Anything I find we need to retrofit.

    • @PARALIFE
      @PARALIFE  4 роки тому

      A shower that you can just roll right into without any steps is best but a bath is better than a non perfect shower. These showers are starting to become quite fashionable in modern homes so you might not need to retrofit it if the apartment is quite new but older ones are unlikely to have a walk in shower and you would most likely have to change it yourselves. Hope that helps

    I have a shower chair that slides. I’m afraid to get a bath fearing that I won’t be able to pull my self up and out. I’m still learning my way around being disabled. It surely isn’t easy being disabled. And finding out how expensive it is. Like a shower chair a wheelchair or a vehicle which is expensive for most of us. That’s why I recently got a foldable power wheelchair.

      fair enough, you could try it out in someone else's house or a hotel sometime to see if you can (with someone to help incase you can't). Yes that was one of the most unexpected things we discovered about being disabled, really had no idea how expensive everything is

      @@PARALIFE just seen this comment I have found everything for people with a disability they seem to add a naught into it or double price I just had new tyres which are 40 ish pounds in Halfords the exact same ones were 60 at my local mobility centre

    the diagonal method is exactly how I get in the bath getting out though I get on my knees and push myself up but that takes a lot of upper body and arm strength now have a wet-room though and miss baths

      never seen that getting out method before, sounds quite challenging, not sure if I'd be able to do it but kinda tempted to try tomorrow now

      @@PARALIFE it's very difficult and does take strength I turn over onto all 4s them put each hand onto handles on either side of Bath then lifting into side of the bath turning body all whilst trying not to perform a sex change 😂 which has almost happened on more than one occasion not something to try with no-one else in the room either for a first time try

      @@gazpen1978 haha yeah you weren't lying! I tried one of those once in rehab and that was enough. Almost might as well just wash at sink for the amount you can soak

    Hi. Great video. I am converting a shop into a flat with wheelchair access, which I will let out to a wheelchair user (I don't have a particular person in mind). What do you think of portable bath lifts such as the Bellavita? Are they any good for someone who is paraplegic? Is it worth the expense of a special bath with a built-in lift and door, such as the AKW - Contour - SHAKERLEY - Assistive Bath with SEAT LIFT? In general, would you prefer a bath, or a shower in a wet room?

    • @PARALIFE
      @PARALIFE  10 місяців тому

      Great to hear you’re making more wheelchair accessible accommodation. Sorry I don’t have any experience with bath lifts (permanent or portable) so I can’t really comment I’m afraid but I definitely prefer a wet room shower over a bath. I can’t speak for every wheelchair user but from the ones I do know, the general consensus is more towards a shower so I’d recommend that if possible

      Many thanks for the advice. I'm definitely go for the wet room option now.@@PARALIFE
