I have the highest level of breakdown service for my van so that I’m not stranded if I break down. So worth it when travelling in a van!

Amazing tips, I haven't thought about the house-sitting option. It's indeed a great idea. 🏡

Two years ago I spent 2 weeks travelling to Broome from Perth. I was booked in for 1 week, and planned to travel across the top to Cairns (1 son lives there). The van broke down 24km out of Broome, we arrived at the caravan park ingloriously on the back of a tow truck, I managed to get 2 extra weeks (peak season) but the van couldn't be fixed there, the gear box failed. So thankfully RAC covered the transport back to Perth on a freight truck and covered all the towing involved. The dog and I had to fly home, $1000 EACH.....thank you Qantas!!!!! I was devastated. Then my knee went on me and had to have a total knee replacement. I'm still in the process of getting a few things fixed so I can do a bit more travelling. I always enjoy your videos Brenna.

I do almost the same Brenna, house sits are places to get me and my camper-van serviced. Great tips for people. Cheers Judy

We are currently travelling through Queensland and our vans starter motor needed to be replaced. We have RACV road side assistance and they covered two nights accommodation at a hotel. So it’s worth having that coverage if you’re travelling. Great vid!

I carry a small tent, self inflating mattress and camping stove just in case the van is out of action. I also have a dog, but he's more clingy than Abby. Cheap insurance to go with good maintenance and a roadside assistance package 😊

Cheap insurance? Where do you get that?

@@helenellsworth9556 the cheap insurance against having nowhere to stay is my tent. Sorry if that was ambiguous

This happened to us in Tassie, it was really difficult at first but had a cup of tea & worked it out.
We had it done in stages as it was a big fix.
Also staded in a dog freindly cabin & hubby used a taxi all work out.

Hi Brenna. Great advice as always. Step one .. don't panic 😊 We all get through once we calm down. House sits ect are great if you know your van is coming up for some major /haul .. but yes, take your time and work through it . Look forward to more of your Q & A .. Terri from Tas..

Most quest hotels australia wide are pet friendly, I have stayed at one in Collingwood and Frankston on the Beach, both in Victoria but I have looked and there are some available in all states, also you could hire a MH, Van from Camplify, they have pet friendly options. Lots of caravan parks have cabins that are pet friendly as do Air BnB's.

Love your videos on living in a van. Can I ask you who you have your road side assist with and the cost per year.
    Looking forward to your reply.

Always look on the bright side of things and not on the dark side. van life is enjoyable but it has its pros and cons too, and you will have to weigh up its pros and cons. just keep in mind that your vehicle is being constantly in use going from place to place, and it will need maintenance.

Love these little short videos. I find it difficult to maintain interest listening to someone talk for 30-45 minutes.
