I've wanted to play the drums my entire life, and I'm finally taking that step. It's been confusing to figure out where to start because there are so many options out there. This video was SUPER thorough and helpful for a soon-to-be beginner like me.
Good Afternoon Stephen. If you are still looking for a kit, I have this kit for sale. I bought this kit in January of 2022 here in Vegas. I stepped up to a Birch shell acoustic kit. For the cost of this kit, It is s reasonably priced kit for beginners to intermediate individuals. You cannot beat the ease of movement... as far as picking up the kit and physically walking with it in hand. This kit is obviously not a Yamaha stage custom kit which will run you 749 just for the shells. This kit will help you to learn timing, parradiddles, rudiments and where your drumming pads are. Hope this helps. Keep drumming. s
I bought a nitro mesh kit two years ago and I love it. I'm 6-1, so I went to home depot and bought four 12 inch long by one in diameter steel threaded pipes. They self tap and screw into the bottom of the four legs. Just place the rubber feet on the bottom as well. This raises the set up 12 inches and adds stability by adding about 20 lbs to the bottom of the kit. Since the brain accepts 2 channels per cable one for each drum and a second for each rim you can buy stereo Left Right splitters and double the number of drums on your kit. This is also true for the cymbols. My kit has 8 drums, four cymbols, and hi hat. You have to just create a custom kit and save for each channel. I bought additional drums, cymbols, and I have two base kick pads each with separate pedals. I run it through my old Kenwood steep amp and tower speakers or head sets.
Absolute W comment my friend thank you!! I’m 6’1 as well and was worried about buying this kit bc of size. I saw a guy on YT say “I’m a tall guy at 5’10 and it’s short for me”… first off he’s not tall lol but I got scared because I’m 3+ inches taller than him so I’ll definitely go do this for my kit when I buy mine tomorrow :)
Working jazz drummer here that never wanted edrums until I saw the price and for mesh pads!I now see the value in them. I love these drums after almost 3 years. Helped me learn over 30 songs (reading charts) for a big band gig that I had only one rehearsal for. I practice with them with UA-cam playing on my smartphone to learn stuff I need to play on gigs. Invaluable tool for me. More than good enough for practice and fun. If you have reasonable expectations I think most people will be very happy with them. If you need top notch ,these aren't it and you should expect to pay way more. It does everything I need.
I've been drumming since I was 10 years old. I just bought my 12 year old son this kit for his birthday. It was easy to set up and it's a lot of fun to play. Great review of this kit. Your channel will be growing exponentially over the next few years.
I bought this for my 14yr old son who is almost 6ft tall and we just built some feet for it to raise it up about 5 inches and its perfect now. He is a beginner and freakn stoked he loves it. He plays every day. Thanks for the heads up on the website to make it sound even better. I play guitar and now a drummer in the house. Good times
Like any other electronic drum set, you can always flip the metal bars that hold the drums upward to make them spread out and also make them higher. All sets including regular drum sets are adjustable, so the drummer can make it comfortable for themselves. As for the symbols spinning? If you pay attention to how you run your cords to them that alone will stop them from spinning. I have the turbo mesh kit only because that's all I can't afford right now and I sold my actual drum set when my brother passed away because it brought back too many memories for me for years of him and I playing together in bars in Columbus Ohio.
I just bought this set. I am a beginner starting my journey and I am only 5 ft tall so these should be perfect. Thank you for your helpful videos. Oh and you are never too old Im 59.
I was rather skeptical when thinking of an electronic drum kit, but this review was extremely helpful, especially for someone who has never played drums before and is looking to learn. This looks like a great way to start. Thanks.
I own Alesis Nitro Mesh for 2 years now, and it really helped my progression in playing drums. My biggest issue with this set is the static noise when I try to jack in my phone, as I want to play with favourite songs.
Hello, Maybe what I'm about to say can help you solve your problem. I have the Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit too, mainly to play along songs, plugging my phone (Galaxy S7) as input via mini-jack, and getting the sound in my ears through mini-jack with good quality in-ear earphones (I know it's good quality because it's my brother who's a sound engineer who offered them to me, and I also have a background in professional video editing, I'm not a sound specialist, but I can recognize when an headphone has too much bass, background noise, lacks frequency ranges and stuffs like that), and I assure you I definitely have no static noise at all. I can't tell you exactly what the culprit is, but you should probably try to plug your drums on another wall-plug (or ultimately in another house/appartment with a different electrical installation), or try with another phone, other mini-jack cables etc... maybe it comes from one of these elements. Could also be a defect in the power adapter of your Alesis kit, a bad component in it that doesn't filter the signal good enough or something like that. So if I were you and wanted to get rid of the static, I would try to check all elements mentioned above, and in last resort contact Alesis to explain the situation and see what they have to say about it, and see if they offer you a power adapter replacement (seems unlikely to me as it's been 2 years since you bought it) but maybe they can confirm you that the static noise comes from the power adapter and sell you a new one for not too much. I hope this helps. Nevertheless, I wish you good drumming ; )
I bought the old Alesis Nitro w/ rubber pads for my son about 8 years ago and man, that software makes this beginner kit sound like a $5k roland kit. I'm sold on the software!
This is not too bad of a drum set, for the price, which was why I bought it recently. I'm not a pro drummer by any means but I too did find that the hi-hat control pedal doesn't allow for the same effects that you get from a real hi-hat. The rest of the kit's good though. Didn't take long to figure out how to set the volume controls and how to save a preferred kit setting. It serves my purpose so I'm happy with it.
Hi Nick! I have the Alesia Nitro mesh special edition kit and I’ve played it with my band live using EZ Drummer 3 and it sounded great! Didn’t look great with the red and black, but sounded fantastic. I also own a Yamaha DD75 kit and play it when space is very limited. Keep the vids coming!
This kit is awesome. If I won I’d be giving it to my nephew. He’s always wanting to play mine so what better way for him to play on one than for me to win it and give it to him on his birthday!
Great review! Ive been aware of e-drum kits for a while but this really opened my eyes to it! I haven’t played for a long time since my old acoustic set was damaged in a flood a few years back, and my living situation now definitely wouldn’t allow for too much noise, so I think this would be a great way for me to get back in the game. Thanks Nick!
I had a lower level Roland kit years ago and am in the market again. I know Alesis and my old boss used to work for them, quality gear. I’m just an old guy who wants to noodle at home now so this would be perfect for my condo.
This review was super helpful. I just found a set for about half price basically new. I’m a big guy but my living situation changed and I’m living in a much smaller space. Im also coming back to drumming after a horrific motorcycle injury (almost lost a leg). I was almost an intermediate drummer before I crashed. Im gonna pull the trigger. This sounds almost perfect for me. Except the size. But I can deal with that
I enjoy drums and drum beats. I will be picking my drum lessons up again after starting with an actual drum set. I just could not practice like I wanted because of the noise. I decided to sell my traditional drum set and go with a electronic drum set so that I can control the volume and also have options for recording and utilizing different sound kits. Your review help me make a decision on which set to look into getting. Thanks for the great review of the Alesis Nitro Mesh.
Definitely get the kit with the 4th symbol just for the versatility. I purchased this kit a year ago. I'm liking that Nick showed that you can run this through other audio platforms to get more dialed sounds. Now me thinks I need to get a double bass pedal as well.
One of the best reviews Ive ever seen on any product, anywhere! Great quality of video, audio and production value. That must have taken a very long time to make. Thorough, informative and very well done. Ive been laboring over which brand to get for my 16 year old son. Been researching Yamaha, Alesis, Simmons, Roland, and many others and this seems like the perfect fit for him (I might even jump in on a set or two). Very nice job young man. I'm sold on Alesis.
thank you for the review, I started learning years ago when i lived with a drummer. couldn't keep me off his practice set then we broke up and I was scared to get a kit living in a apt and electric kits where very pricey back then. I ordered this one today after watching a few reviews figure its a good start to get my feet wet and try and start learning again and decide if its something i want to put more money into
I had this kit for a month and then returned it. It is a great beginner kite but I had 2 issues. I’m 6’3” and it’s too short for me to play comfortably. The other issue was the hi hat, it didn’t really seem like there was sensitivity on it. I was trying to play Face Down by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, but the intro sounded terrible because I couldn’t do small accent notes on the hi hat. Every hit no matter how soft was a full hit
My son will be turning 8 this Christmas and he is very interested in getting started on the drums. This looks like it could be a great way to get him started.
I just wanted to chime in as a happy buyer of these drums. I got mine roughly around the beginning of Covid just because I'm a working drummer that knew I would lose all of my music work for the duration of Covid. I wanted something that would allow me to maintain and improve my skillset. I think these drums are fantastic for the unbelievable price. There are a few different software programs that will allow you to get better sound for free download. I've found this kit to be very durable if you play them normally. My only complaint is the snare drum will move if you bump them. My solution is to put it on a real snare stand The feel of playing them is quite good but of course you have to recognize this kit is value based. That said I think they are an unbelievable value. I use them to prepare for music jobs, learn songs, practice reading charts and having fun! I don't perform with them but if I did I would opt to buy a higher end kit because I don't think these would survive being disassembled and moved a lot. All in all,I think your son would love these drums and it would be a very happy Christmas for him. I never dreamed I could buy a kit like this for so little money. A decade ago you'd have to pay several times as much for a mesh head kit.
I started playing drums when my parents (saints they were) bought me a used 3 pc Slingerland acoustic set for my 12th birthday! That was almost 48 years ago! 🙀 Now I live in a small condo with very little room, but I’m always playing drums in the air, on my dashboard, or anything else I can find. The good news is, electronic drum kits seem to be way better than they were when I first bought one. Definitely have a few more videos to watch, and hopefully get to some music stores to try them out. 🥁 Cheers!
I have an old Alesis D4 module that I used with my Hart Dynamics kit at church for years. That D4 is still a great sounding module. I'd love to play a newer all Alesis kit. I bet it sounds great.
I came to your video as Ive always wanted to play the drumset and needed one with space, this video helped me and I think Im going to get this, thank you good sir
Good afternoon Sarah! I have this kit for sale here in Vegas at a reduced price. I was fortunate enough to step up to a accoustic set. Standing behind your Daughter and her desire to 🥁 Drum brings tears to my eyes. God bless you. Keep drumming Sarah's daughter.
Good video, I would use it as a practice kit when I can’t play my acoustic kit. I can also have this kit for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. She would love it and play it more than me.
These drums aren’t bad at all if you want top quality pay top dollar, but for the price you pay on these the pre-sets are good they sound fine. The feel is good, the durability is great it has more than enough features to be able to have some fun and play along to your favorite tunes. These I would recommend for everyone who wants low price and good enough to work well. Not necessarily for beginners only.
Everyone says the snare drum is too low. Mine goes higher. Just rotate the plastic holder that’s around the metal post to let you put the snare higher (the plastic butterflies don’t have to be upright, they can be to the side) Also anyone reading this worrying about the tightening plastic butterflies, it’s nothing to worry about because inside; the screws themselves are metal and secure. 🙂 I’m enjoying my kit, one con is I wish the snare was bigger. Apart from that it’s great!
I’d love to win this set! I was very into drumming when I was about 8 years old and in a kids rock group, but since then it’s been hard to find the space, time, and money to practice. I’ve been practicing on an awkward rubber pad setup that is far too loud for the row homes that I live in, and I don’t have the money to afford renting out a space to work on improving my skills. Having a kit like this would really allow me the ability to practice as much and as loudly as I want without worrying about disturbing my neighbors. Either way, I’m excited to start up my journey in drumming again since it’s brought me joy for much of my life.
I was going to get this set, but looking at the Donner-DED 200 it seems to be the much better deal imo. I have a $60 coupon which basically makes the difference between the Donner and Alesis w/ expansion taken care of. Cool review!
Been searching for an Electric drum set, and trying to make it a hobby of mine. I’m in college and travel back home a lot and this seems way better to try and travel with than a real drum set lol
Just picked up the SE version (red version) of this kit yesterday while it was on sale for $379 at my local Guitar Center. As a new drummer, I'm loving it so far. Overall, a great kit for the money. A few things about it, though: 1. While I do like the red personally, it does give it a more toyish appearance than the black. Definitely not going to be to everyone's liking. If thinking about the SE, check it out in person first. 2. It feels to me like the snare is a bit small for side sticks (I could be wrong). 3. The rim height is a bit tall and I find myself tapping my sticks on them periodically, though I have angled my toms and snare down a bit to try to avoid it. Could also be my technique as a beginner, but something to note anyway. 4. With me being 5' 9", the set is a bit short like you said. I did try out a couple of $2k+ Roland kits and an Alesis Command X in addition to the Nitro. While the Roland and Command kits were more comfortably sized, the Nitro isn't bad. With a bit of adjustment, I've found a comfortable set up.
Awesome comment! Thanks for the insight. Yep the sale GC *had going was great. You're correct that the snare is too small for side sticks. I should have mentioned that. It doesn't work too well.
My boys are finally following my love for music! I am excited that guitars a being played...the piano is getting attention.....but as we learn some rock favorites like black sabbath...ACDC....Led Zepplin...etc...we are hoping to bring in our own drum playing and not just playing along with music on the pc.. The boys would love this kit!
Thanks Nick for the breakdown of the kit. I am looking to pick it up. I've drummed 11+ years & looking for a practice set. I'm a little bummed that the rack is low w/o room to raise it, I'm 6' and don't like to sit low. Maybe I'll make a riser for it.
I have a special needs son who loves drums and I’m looking into getting him a set for Christmas. Insane deals on this right now ($299). I was wondering how this was compared to the Simmons Titan 50 which is also on sale ($329). It’s one of these. What are your thoughts?
I've wanted to play the drums my entire life, and I'm finally taking that step. It's been confusing to figure out where to start because there are so many options out there. This video was SUPER thorough and helpful for a soon-to-be beginner like me.
Thanks for commenting Stephen. If you ever need any help feel free to reach out! You got this.
@@NickCesarzDrums What an awesome response to him - and an awesome comment! Love your positive energy!
Go for it! I think this is the perfect way to start. Any updates? Are you doing it?
How's the progress been?

I’m 62, just started playing drums at church. I need a lot of improvement. I love how you just flow and make it look so easy.
Thank you! Keep at it!

Sorry for your loss hope someday you will buy the best acoustic kit and know your bro will smile in heaven
I have this kit and got it back in 2019. Amazing beginner kit and still plays great. I have been saving up for a better kit.
I just bought this set. I am a beginner starting my journey and I am only 5 ft tall so these should be perfect. Thank you for your helpful videos. Oh and you are never too old Im 59.

I own Alesis Nitro Mesh for 2 years now, and it really helped my progression in playing drums. My biggest issue with this set is the static noise when I try to jack in my phone, as I want to play with favourite songs.
Hello,
Maybe what I'm about to say can help you solve your problem.
Been wanting this set for a year now for rockband and proper jamming!
I bought the old Alesis Nitro w/ rubber pads for my son about 8 years ago and man, that software makes this beginner kit sound like a $5k roland kit. I'm sold on the software!
This is not too bad of a drum set, for the price, which was why I bought it recently. Been wanting one of these! Need a great kit that is portable, easy to store, and great to introduce my son to drumming!
Good luck! Definitely a perfect beginner kit.
I used to practice on these at the local guitar shop in town. I almost purchased a similar Alesis set for my wife!
Solid breakdown, not to mention bringing in the Toontrack, I had no idea how big a difference that makes!
This is a great evaluation as we contemplate what kit to get for my son who is just new starting as a drummer.
One of my favorite drummers out here🙏

My kid is hooked on drums and your playing Nick. Great electric kit. So stoked VT is back in action!
Rock on!
Exceptional video! Clear, concise communication and commentary while unboxing. Well done!

Rock on! Thanks for the comment!
I first fell in love with the drums in middle school music class and I've missed playing ever since. I can't wait to get a kit like this 🥺
consider the Simmons Titan 50, way better, much cheaper
Danielle...I have this kit for sale!
Keep 🥁 Drumming!
Definitely get the kit with the 4th symbol just for the versatility. I purchased this kit a year ago. I'm liking that Nick showed that you can run this through other audio platforms to get more dialed sounds. Now me thinks I need to get a double bass pedal as well.
How do you apply the software with this kit? I’m new to edrums

Good Afternoon Joseph!
I have this set for sale. I was fortunate enough to step up.
If you haven't purchased yet...shoot me a line.
Keep Dumming!!!
Great! this is the best review comparing the stock vs the possible sounds with other programs! thank you!
thank you for the review, I started learning years ago when i lived with a drummer. couldn't keep me off his practice set then we broke up and I was scared to get a kit living in a apt and electric kits where very pricey back then. I’m getting way deeper into drums .. I’ve been trynna up my overall production , this perfect for practice & a cool prep for live performance.
I had this kit for a month and then returned it. It is a great beginner kite but I had 2 issues. I’m
6’3” and it’s too short for me to play comfortably. The other issue was the hi hat, it didn’t really seem like there was sensitivity on it. I'm 6'2 . Did you find an e kit that fit ?
My son will be turning 8 this Christmas and he is very interested in getting started on the drums. This looks like it could be a great way to get him started.

Now I live in a small condo with very little room, but I’m always playing drums in the air, on my dashboard, or anything else I can find. The good news is, electronic drum kits seem to be way better than they were when I first bought one.
Definitely have a few more videos to watch, and hopefully get to some music stores to try them out.
🥁
Cheers!
Wow - incredibly in-depth review! Nice work and playing dude!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this. I've just decided to take up drum lessons, so this is great timing.
Thanks for the review; 10yo is ready to start drums and this seems to be a great entry point for him.
It is! Good luck if you entered the contest!
Been dying for an electronic drum set for so long. I’m a college student so it’s hard finding cheap ones that are still good quality like this
Nitro would be perfect for college living too. My DTX I had in college had rubber pads and was super loud.
The new Simmons Titan 50 is worth checking out as an entry level kit also. Module has some great features.
Thanks for the very in-depth review.
Been wanting to learn how to play the drums! Excited to start and will be super grateful if chosen
Rock on!
I have an old Alesis D4 module that I used with my Hart Dynamics kit at church for years. That D4 is still a great sounding module. I'd love to play a newer all Alesis kit. I bet it sounds great.
I miss the rack-mounted modules!
Cheers for this. My son is 9 and going to buy one. Great review
No problem 👍 hope you son has fun with it!
Really seems like a good kit! Great video. Clear audio. Thumbs up sir.
Thanks! 👍
Nice! Great review! Really considering picking this kit up.
Very informative. Thank you for all the insights!
Glad it was helpful!
I literally just looked up this video so I could see how the small boxes fit back into the big one. Lol Thank you!
glad it helped!
great video. the toontrack sounds awesome
I came to your video as Ive always wanted to play the drumset and needed one with space, this video helped me and I think Im going to get this, thank you good sir
i played drumset for one year in high school 5 years ago and i really miss it. i'm looking into electric drums because i have roommates and neighbors.
Thank you for this video, I’ve wanted to learn to play a long time ago and this was very informative. Keep up!
Glad it was helpful!
Great review. My 13 yr old daughter is wanting to learn so your review very helpful. Wining a giveaway for it would be amazing!
Good luck!
I’ve wanted an electronic kit for so long! Seems like a great option!
Looks like a great kit! Thanks for the video
Thanks for doing this!
I had the rubber version of this kit. It wasn’t great but I’m sure the mesh heads are a game changer
Definitely been thinking about getting one of these. Nice review!
Heyyy!!!! These drums are sick and I would love to start my band with them!!! VT is amazing keep doing what yall are doing 🙏🏼
Thank you we definitely will!
This looks like a really great set to get started on, and it's what I'm planning to do soon. :)
Good Afternoon Ben!
Did you pick up you're kit?
I have this kit for sale here in Vegas.
Keep Drumming.
Toontrack!! What an improvement!!
True, this kit is great for any skill level and is a great value.
Awesome vid. A lot of fun! Glad I found you, and I am subbing.
Love this kit! That’s for the review dude
You bet!
Wishing you luck! Yeah, rubber pads can be really loud!
Been wanting a nice electric kit but didn’t want to burn a hole in my pocket for a double pedal, and now I HOPEFULLY don’t have to!
Nice setup , always wanted an electronic kit.
I was going to get this set, but looking at the Donner-DED 200 it seems to be the much better deal imo. I have a $60 coupon which basically makes the difference between the Donner and Alesis w/ expansion taken care of. Cool review!
Yeah. Much better. All cymbals are dual zone (can assign different sound for the bow and the edge) and are chokeable.
Told me what I needed to know! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Very helpful thanks! We are looking at this kit for young beginner
this looks like a fantastic beginning set!
Been searching for an Electric drum set, and trying to make it a hobby of mine. I’m in college and travel back home a lot and this seems way better to try and travel with than a real drum set lol
Actually yeah, this kit would be fairly easy to travel with! Just a little annoying setting up the cables, but not a big deal.
Thanks for the info! very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Looking to get one of these soon. Thanks for the in depth info very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing Review!!! Could understand the actual pros and cons and take a decision
This is absolutely beautiful.
Just picked up the SE version (red version) of this kit yesterday while it was on sale for $379 at my local Guitar Center. As a new drummer, I'm loving it so far. Overall, a great kit for the money. A few things about it, though:
They used to be that price all the time. I wish they would just go back to that.
This seems like a decent choice for beginners or at home practice. I’m interested in this for sure!
The new Simmons Titan 50 is looking like a decent kit.
I can’t wait to get an electric kit!!
Wow. Lovely kit. As much as I'd love to have one for myself here in Nigeria, life's hard here. I just wish I could have this. Very awesome review.
Drummer from one of my favorite bands giving a review on UA-cam is kinda surreal
Nice drum kits great review
The default kits sound bad but you can make a custom one that sounds way better when you take a deep dive into the settings for each drum.
Great review!
Thank you Dominic!
Just moved into an apartment, i want that alesis nitro baby!!!!
Good luck!
I like the sound of the hi hats as compared to other electric kits
Looks like an impressive kit for a beginner!
Very!
Good luck! I'm sure they would love it!
Hell yeah love your helping been wanting something to practice on when everyone fed up with my loudness 😂
Yeah we're noisy us drummers :D
Just got mine for Christmas the other day it's my first electric kit now that I live in a duplex. 😆
Hope you enjoy it!
@@NickCesarzDrums I can't get my double kick to work that well on the pad it comes with I guess I have to upgrade to an 8 inch.
Very good reviews 👍
Thanks Nick for the breakdown of the kit. I am looking to pick it up. I've drummed 11+ years & looking for a practice set. I'm a little bummed that the rack is low w/o room to raise it, I'm 6' and don't like to sit low. Maybe I'll make a riser for it.
I'd love to have this edrum kit. Dream come true if ever...
Excellent Video, thanks!
seems like a great drum set for beginners!!
I think so too!
I've been wanting one of those a great set
I have a special needs son who loves drums and I’m looking into getting him a set for Christmas. Insane deals on this right now ($299). I was wondering how this was compared to the Simmons Titan 50 which is also on sale ($329). It’s one of these. What are your thoughts?
