      you should put your monitor on the equalizer with the speaker on each side and have the midi tower where your monitor currently is. :)

      Lazy Game Reviews Do DOOM E1M1 with this pile of MIDI goodness please & thank you. It'd certainly be a masterpiece to think about (I can't get the SC-55 version of it out of my head now). Also have Switch 5 on the MPU-104 go directly to MIDI THRU to allow you to play them all at once (albeit you'll need a bigger switcher). Or just press all 4 buttons at once on the switcher (my switcher allows you to do exactly that, & an off-the-shelf one like that should allow you to do that as well as the MPU-104).

    Maybe it's a side-effect of growing up in technology-centered family and regularly going to computer swap meets in the 90's, but I hear this song and it just feels like a soundtrack to the optimism of the early 90's. I hear this, and look back, and think "you had no idea, at the time, the amount of progress you would personally see personal computing technology take in the next decade." At times I am envious of those that got to see the home-computer revolution first-hand, but I am also equally glad I got to grow up in such a turbo-charged era of tech growth.

    That.... that actually sounds pretty darn good. I was expecting a cacophony, but I guess since all the modules are built for replicating MIDI accurately, it isn't. 👍

    • @kosmosyche
      @kosmosyche 7 років тому +45

      I was also surprised they sounded quite good together. But then again, we are hearing devices from the 3 top manufacturers of professional synthesizers. Sure they sound different, but none of them should make a mess of the song.

    • @ArneSchmitz
      @ArneSchmitz 7 років тому +31

      The important thing here is that the timing isn't off even by a bit. Nice.

    • @KuraIthys
      @KuraIthys 7 років тому +33

      They all sound different, but MT-32 aside all comply with general midi, so all should be playing the same instruments.
      I guess the result isn't that different from an orchestra.
      Yes, you might have 10 people playing the trumpet, all of which are using different trumpets with slightly different sound, but it's still 10 people playing the same note on a trumpet.
      Makes sense.
      Also, timing wise I think this is 4 independent recordings mixed in post.
      So it doesn't tell us the machines are in sync with one another, just that they all play back the song at the correct tempo.

    • @whiskeyjuliet
      @whiskeyjuliet 7 років тому +7
