When I had dogs, I used to drive by the vet with them. That way, they didn't necessarily associate the road with the vet. I would also take them with me, to schedule an appointment and/or if I had questions. It gave them good experiences; so they were really good about going.

Its to be expected when furry family members visit this type of environment due to the odours that they detect makes them nervous but reassurance & soft speaking along with the soft touching allows them to relax & acknowledge that everything is okay.
