Pete passed 2 months later. This was probably one of his last concerts! I feel blessed to have stumbled upon this video🙏🏼 Pete was 94 when he passed on January 27, 2014. This video is from 11/30/13. He sounds pretty good for a 94 year old!❤️
Oh Pete, you’re so loved. Your wonderful wife Toshi, of almost 70 years of marriage died July 9, 2013 at 91. We know you followed her January 27, 2014 at 94. Thank you for this parting gift of a farewell concert, though we didn’t know it at the time.

Great concert. Arlo and his family wee spot on. 6 months before Pete's passing he was still amazing. I'm sure he and Woody are holding concerts up in heaven. May their memories be for a blessing.
When I lived in Chicago many years ago, I had the opportunity to see Pete in person several times. One night, at a benefit concert on Southport Avenue, after several other folksingers had sung, he appeared on the mini stage and in a hoarse voice croaked that he could not sing, but he could whistle! He whistled several tunes, and then began to sing. He sang for us at least thirty minutes. The love between him and his audience was almost palpable, a current between him and us.
Thank You greatly for posting this I was there this WONDERFUL night, I met Judy Collins that night , Pete surely made a difference in the history of this WORLD Changing it for the better one note and one song at a time. war is not the answer.
It's painful to see Pete Seeger at this advanced age. For me he's an American hero. Brilliant artist and a committed social activist. One of the great men of the 20th century.
c'est pénible, mais c'est beau aussi, et woody est sûrement quelque part à regader, pete seeger est mort deux mois près, il aura été sur scène jusqu'au bout. belle belle vie de militant, magnifique bonhomme.
Yes Pete Seeger a true American hero. Mario Cuomo Bridge should have been named for him since it was Pete Seeger who started the awareness of saving the Hudson River. Look at it now. A treasure Seeger realized decades ago that needed to be preserved as a treasure for all following generations. Pete of course would not have wanted this recognition, but still - he certainly deserved that acknowledgement.
When I listened to Arno Guthrie he is singing and playing very quick. But here, together with his old mate Pete, he slows down. This is friendship until the end. Makes me smile and cry at the same time.
The very first live concert I ever attended was Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie (in 1978). I was able to get to see Pete Seeger live one final time about twenty years after that. Those are some of my best memories for this 63 year old woman.
I was absolutely thrilled to be at this concert. Pete was a bit slower but never skipped a beat. We brought our two young granddaughters and they just loved it. In fact, it was one of the girl's ninth birthday.
This just shows You how much class Arlo has Even tho Pete is frail and fragile Arlo still takes his friend out on tour Super cool R.I.P. PETE THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT MUSIC
He fought for a better world and sang his heart from the moment he was old enough to hold a guitar until he passed away. He is a legend by all accounts, and by none can he be called a "grifter" or "in it only for the money." Fly high, Pete. My greatest regret is that I never got to meet you.
Thanks for posting this. Although I never met Pete Seeger he and his music had a profound effect upon my music and my life. I didn't always agree with his opinions but his passion for the music of common people and the contributions he made to that body of work were inspirations to me and many, many others. He was truly an American treasure. I am grateful to Arlo, the Guthrie family, and all involved with the recording and posting of this concert for enabling me to experience the Seeger and Guthrie magic one last time.
Wow. When I was four, I used to cry when Pete went off the air. Part of me knows you can celebrate the complete life of a man who's touched so many people, but in January, a four year old child inside me was crying (and the 48 year old he had become was pretty close) because Pete Seeger had gone off the air. Sarah Lee (Arlo's youngest daughter, on stage with them) wasn't around yet when Arlo and Pete first toured together. The torch gets passed. It's a good cycle.
Amazing that Pete was still so "with it" at that age and able to be up there on stage so close to his date of departure. Folk singing keeps you young, I guess..
Pete Seeger and the Weavers performed at my cousins wedding way back before I was born My mother was there and she was in a photo with Pete I had met him many times in my life My parents good friends were Arlo's aunt and uncle so my parents would go to Greenwich Village and seem him perform many times
Absolutely wonderful! Very moving to see Pete and Arlo singing 'This Land Is Your Land' - particularly those more 'political' verses that people tend to omit. Pete hadn't much voice left, but there was no stopping him! Whilst Woody wrote this wonderful song, Pete is mostly responsible for popularising it.
I think that is wonderful that man that was such a good friend of his dad's maintained that relationship with his son. Thank you Pete for all that you gave us in both heart and song, we promise to hold on.
Hi, from Saltash in Cornwall, UK I've just come across your great recording of this wonderful, wonderful concert of Arlo Guthrie and Pete Seeger and it has filled me with happiness and yet brought me to the edge of tears at the same time. Thanks so much for this wonderful treasureI Like many of us my age we were raised on skiffle over here and had the great "folk revival" with lots of our songs sent back among yours. one of my aims was to try to meet meet Pete when I retired and ... so . sadly .. i just failed to do so. This lovely picture of him sitting, playing and interacting with the audience and that atmoshee was pure magi for me!!! THANK YOU! Rog Smith, Cornwall, UK
Kevin Thurston I see he died within 2 months of this concert. It occurred to me that this concert must have been quite a strain on him and could have contributed to his death. But I am sure he would have been pleased to have done it anyway. What a wonderful and inspiring human being - an example to us all.
I was there sitting in my favorite box,3 in from the stage. One of my best memories was Sarah Guthrie and how she stayed "close" to Pete with her loving protection. Some of the music wasn't clear to me because I cried through a lot of it. It was my tradition to see Carlo and Pete every year in Carnegie and the sense washed over me that this was the last time.... and it was.
I love these two!!! Years ago when me, my ex-husband & our son got our 1st dog together & we named her Woody after Woody Guthrie. We all saw both Pete & Arlo concerts many times.
My wife and I have been attending the annual Thanksgiving concerts at Carnegie Hall for thirty years. Last night, Arlo seemed to be in an unusually quiet mood. He made a few references to our current political situation, but not too many. The most powerful moment was Arlo's moving performance of "In Times Like These." The audience cheered as he sang "when leaders profit from deep divisions/when the tears of friends remain unsung/in times like these it's good to remember/these times will go in times to come." He also spoke about Bob Dylan's winning the Nobel Prize. He sang a few Dylan songs, Gates of Eden, When the Ship Comes In, and Mr. Tambourine Man.
Thanks to Arlo. After Toshi, I suspect he knew Pete best. He respected Pete and didn't let his dignity be diminished. Unfortunately, others did towards the end ... you know who you are and so do we.
