  • City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works sanitation workers in white hazardous materials suits remove hazardous waste, trash and tents from the Venice Beach Boardwalk homeless encampment, Thursday, July 1, 2021.
    The sanitation workers were given permission by the homeless person to remove items. The homeless person may have been housed and will no longer be in the tent.
    HOUSING OPTIONS:
    Outreach workers have been out at Venice Beach regularly, offering housing to people residing at the Beach. Outreach workers will continue to be present in each zone prior to the listed cleanup day to connect the unhoused with
    these housing options. Sufficient housing options exist for anyone who was living at the beach on or
    before June 25, 2021. If unhoused need help moving belongings, assistance will be provided. Transportation to the housing site is available at no charge to the unhoused.

    All the people that are supporting the homeless and speak out for them, should take a homeless home with them. Given then shelter, helped them out instead of crying about it. Allowed them to sleep in your house offer them your couch or let them sleep outside your propriety see how it feels to have crap in front of your door step. Lastly if your homeless your personal belongings should be your ID, EBT card, one sleeping bag, a few pairs of clothes and one tent. No need for all the xtra trash

      ALL of those people are more than welcome to come to SOFLO. The absolute best homeless spot in USA. Plenty of work, free housing and food. Don't want to pay taxes and work...fine. Local panhandlers average 4-700 daily. Best dope in America, cheap booze and beer, be treated like street royalty. Jails full so you can't live there. Shelters abound. Everyday meals 3x, buffets on beach just restarted. Plz come here, you won't be sorry.

      @@jameskann951 this is what happens when people vote Democrat in the big cities for decades. It just gets worse and worse until you end up with the mess we are all looking at here. But people in these cities never seem to learn. Now the word "Socialism" is being thrown around like that is the magic pill to fix everything, which could not be farther from the truth. That is the proverbial flush of the toilet, to finish off these cities, and then the entire country. You voted these crooks in, and they are the mafia. They have no intention of helping anyone but themselves. They want people to be homeless, drug addicted, at odds with each other and shooting each other because they make money from it, and they aren't going to stop making things worse and worse because that is what they thrive on. For decades they have made housing more unaffordable, caused businesses to move elsewhere from crazy tax laws and regulations, and dismantled mental health facilities, only to replace them with jails. They are the true drug dealers, gun runners, and sex traffickers, they just hide it behind the false facade of being upstanding citizens looking out for everyone's well being. At least until recently, and now they really aren't even trying to hide it. They don't even care if we all know it now because they are running this shit show and we can't stop it. I am not sure if this mess could be fixed even if they were all removed from office and we started over because it has gone on for so long. When people want everything for free, those same people don't seem to understand that the money for all that free stuff has to come from somewhere. Then these same people cry, "take it from the rich". Well if you were rich, either from working hard all your life or even inherited it, would you continue to work hard to keep paying for people who just want everything handed to them, meanwhile you are losing a good percentage of what is yours? I doubt it. Most of the rich would either find a way to hide their money or just leave this country to a country that would not tax them as much. As a matter of fact they are already doing that. They would move their businesses also. Which means that joblessness would be everywhere in America and we would all be dirt poor, and then the real civil unrest would start and you wouldn't be able to find a safe place anywhere. These "Socialists" have no clue of the reality of what their utopian pipe dream really consists of. It has not worked in any other country and it won't work here. There are no easy answers to the problems we have, but free handouts for life and living on public land like this is not the answer. Neither is Socialism.

    Don't kid yourselves. Do you see that furthest house? That's the edge of Venice Beach and the tents go as far as that. They can't even get rid of all that crap in front of them, imagine doing that for 40 more tents.

    • @thelawn6289
      @thelawn6289 3 роки тому

      @Mia Zadora As long as homeless can occupy a new space faster than the authorities can enforce and clear a tent from an occupied space, it's impossible. I pass by the tents every single day and outreach, sanitation, police, are all outnumbered with no unified direction. They're all making more work for each other. Outreach creates trash. Sanitation is too outmanned to move overfilled dumpsters. Police are on ebikes out of shape forced to hand out food to people inside tents too lazy to pick up free food. They have all been neutered by Bonin. Take a good look at the outreach workers and tell me if anybody is working hard, because there's no incentive to do so.

    • @thelawn6289
      @thelawn6289 3 роки тому

      @Mia Zadora What do you mean trying to work around very sketchy living situations? Maybe you did some work and God bless you for that but I've never heard of anybody actually being helped, and I see much of the same ones who leave end up coming back after some time. Even outreach won't help me because they think I'm just a homeless person who came to Venice to try and get housing. They don't understand that I am too paranoid to camp overnight after I've been assaulted while asleep. Even though I kept to myself once some people clocked me as HSTS I was hated and singled out even by some of the homeless. Now I sleep on the Expo and Red line during the day because it's safer than camping overnight. I am always on the move riding my bicycle after midnight until morning because it's safer and the trauma from being attacked by groups of people while I was sleeping in a tent never went away.

I've been employed full time ever since and have my own apartment, truck etc. What I didn't do was camp out somewhere and call it home. I am not heartless, but ponder.........My wife and I have worked hard all our life, and have a nice place, but many miles inland in the more hot desert area. Would I like to live near the beach? You bet. Do I wish I had a great view with a sea breeze, for sure, but even as hard working, tax paying folks, I can't live there, so I ask, why should non working people expect they can just set up a place to stay with a million dollar view, just because they want to? There is a lot of open land, empty fields the homeless can set up without causeing near the eyesore and trouble. OH! that right its not as much fun as living on a beach, leave the empty fields more inland to the hard working middle class.

    This is great to see, homeless people need to be homed and not allowed to be in areas where they are can become lost to society. I do not agree with people who complain that this is wrong. What is actually wrong is to do nothing about the two problems here. People without the means to be homed and people who complain about it but do nothing about it.

    • @user-mv9tt4st9k
      @user-mv9tt4st9k 3 роки тому

      Homing the homeless is a wonderful ideal. However, the reality is that many of them do not want to be housed. Housing means there are conditions, like not acting out, partying, or accumulating vast amounts of stuff. In some shelters, lights are not turned off and the residents are not treated with dignity. It might not be that way everywhere, but that is how homeless people have described to me what a typical shelter might look like. The consequences of choosing to drop out of life to live on the streets doing drugs or other self-harm should not be protected status to block public streets or sidewalks, or allowed by law to loiter or sleep on a business owner's property.
