I’m trying to do something similar but I’m wanting to do the electrical harness... trying to find out how to use the newer wiring harness is a hassle cause I haven’t found anything
I'm wrapping up the dash swap now. All that is left is to finish making my custom radio panel which is tricky. Do you know if it is possible to hook a 10-14 radio to the 05-09 wiring harness? Obviously some splicing would need to take place. It would certainly make things way easier, especially if I could install a "tesla" screen for a 10-14 mustang.
Not quite. The Tesla screens have the AC controls built in and the wiring pinout on that is way different than on ours so you're stuck with the custom panel my dude 😂
Unfortunately no. The wiring for AC for the 05-09 is different than 10-14 so the Tesla screens won't work. I have been looking at the wiring and might consider doing something like that later on
I’m just seeing this video after a saw a discussion on Facebook about a Dash swap, so I decided to just look at some info, even when I’m not planning to swap it any time soon, even at all. But you mention something about voltage regulators for the volume buttons. I have a 2014 mustang steering wheel with volume buttons, and a Dynavin radio with steering wheel button options. And I hate the fact it keeps forgetting the buttons. Sometimes it will keep them stored for a few days, sometimes I need to relearn them a couple of time in 1 drive… that the only thing I hate about it. I’m not sure if it’s a fault in the system or maybe something like this with different voltages. Do you do anything with regulators and did it change anything?
I was waiting for a part to be delivered and I just got it this weekend - it is for a new steering wheel mod and I will do a video soon on that and it will also cover the 17 wheel installation.
@@s197stang8 It's actually not possible without a black box to convert signals and rewire since some CAN communication was moved to direct comm. Fuel, seat belts, PATS. Also the signal for MPH is different. I did the same as Alex; modded an 07 mycolor for mine, changed the gel to blue from a 2012.
Nice Job! I did mine, or at least I started it, around the same time you did. I just went with a 2012 steering wheel, but did the clock spring swap as well and was able to get the single multifunction switch working (high beam is double double for on off) and all the buttons working thanks to the 12 harness pigtails and a PAC. Have not watched entire thing but I kept my blend door box and modded the AC tube for fit. I also used the 12 light switch/dimmer - all works even though the 12 dimmer uses one less wire. Making the radio bezel was the hardest part I think; even harder than cool blue LED swap, but it was fun.
Thanks! I kinda like the dual stalk setup on the older cars so I did not do a clocksping swap. I used the 10-14 switch as well, and the auto lights functions the same way as the headlights on so it works just like yours, yea. And fully agree with ya on the radio bezel... it was a pain
Hey man, awesome video! This is super helpful in preparing for my swap. I noticed at 8:44 your LED footwel lighting came on as you opened the door. What did you wire the LED’s to to have them come on when you open the door? It looks freakin awesome

If you do that, might as well find a wrecked 10-14 and transfer everything from it.
