If you are using your old steering wheel, just make sure nothing rotates. Secure it with whatever means you have. Or you can go the long route and remove the steering completely and the clock spring. The steering assembly can be removed from the dash frame, you need to do this anyway if you are replacing the dash as a whole.

I got this far. I'm trying to replace the heater core. Now I'm stumped as to how I get the core out, if you could help me or point me in the right direction, I can't seem to find any information on the subject
If you do it by the books you need to pull the entire air box out of the car. Two nuts on the fire wall and air conditioning lines on the engine side. Or you can take the short cut and remove all screws on top of the air box by the blend door. Now, you will have to cut or crack the corner of the air box facing the driver seat. Plus cutting the plastic supports for the heater core inlet and outlet pipes, one right at the firewall and the other inside the air box by the gas pedal area. You can be a little rough with the heater pipes as they are aluminum and can bend some. The idea is to slide the heater core out thru the driver side. I cracked my air box on purpose in the right area as to not destroy the hinge for the blend door. Plastics cracks go back together easier with epoxy or aluminum hvac tape. If you decide to remove the air box, you will have to evac the refrigerate and refill. If you are able to view the thumb nail for this video, you can see where I resealed mine. I hope this helps you out.
The speedometer is a quick fix on these cars, no need to pull the dash. You can just replace it if that is the issue, always check all fuses before doing so. As for your AC there could be multiple issues. First and foremost Freon is needed, make sure the system has the correct amount. Also make sure you have zero leaks. If all those things are correct then we look at the Compressor, is it turning on. Pressures need to be tested as well when the system is running.
I have a 2008 Bullitt. Do you think the electrical connections are any different ? Also will need to swap key switch and steering wheel is that stuff hard to do ?
Yes, it's the same. The steering wheel and key switch are easy the do. Remove the plastic around the steering column to access the switch. The steering wheel you need to remove the air bag and then the mounting nut. You may need a puller for removal. If you are lucky you can shake off the steering wheel.
My radio keeps cutting on and off. Same with the fog lights and heat/ac lights under the stereo. Seems to be worse when the heat is on. Have you had any experiences with this? Mine is a 2006. I was trying to find where the ground is for the stereo. No luck.
It's by the fuse block on the passenger side, I would check the fuse block as well. For some reason it builds up the blue crusties, pull fuses to make sure the electric contacts are clean. Also look behind the fuse block.
Reinstall isn't hard, did it on my own. Replacing the top requires removing some more components after pulling the dash out of the car. It depends what tools you have on hand as well. In that case removing the passenger airbag maybe necessary.
Pull the dash with the steering wheel still attached, it will be easier to remove what you need after that. You can just remove the steering wheel, but I would suggest removing the clock spring with it.
@@badredfire3valve944 just remember it's easy, I did it on my own. If you have a helper then you are more than better off. Just keep telling yourself it's easy, just take your time.

So you can lay on your back in the driver's side across the door sill in agony reaching in up there - depends on which one or more are doing it, I have no choice now but to fix it since the ones I unhooked before that were clicking were for the floor and other modes I never use I guess but now the one that blows forward is spinning and not hitting me with the much needed ac
Like to know how to reace a clutch control relay under the dash. Thanks
Are you referring to the Clutch Position switch located on the top of the pedal?
I was gonna swap my 05-09 dash with a 2010-14 dash but what connectors should I keep or should I just get the wiring for the 2014 dash
I would grab the wiring for your dash, I'm not completely sure what is needed. In this video, I was replacing the heater core.
I was curious to how the wires was run from heater/a/c fan was run someone's ran wires somewhere under the dash to my fuse box.i unplugged them and my fan blower stops they have 4 connections with fuses in the ends boogerd up mess I ever seen
@@jamiewellman6986 that will be difficult for me to answer on here. I suggest you head to a junkyard and take some pictures. I think that will be your best bet and maybe pick up a new harness from there.
@@nicklldoit can't find none in a junk yard around here maybe I'll check into buying a new wiring harness
Can you replace the top panel of the dash without removing the entire dash?
Gotta pull the dash to reach the small screws that hold it on.
Is this the same as the 2010-2014 models, haven't watched the video yet, but began gutting the interior of the 2013 mustang and couldn't get the leather piece on the top
The mounting of the dash is the same, the plastics and electronic connections are slightly different.
Ok, so what if your dash board itself is broken? How do I put a new one in if the steering wheel is zip tied to the old broken one?
If you are using your old steering wheel, just make sure nothing rotates. Secure it with whatever means you have. Or you can go the long route and remove the steering completely and the clock spring. The steering assembly can be removed from the dash frame, you need to do this anyway if you are replacing the dash as a whole.
@@nicklldoit what if I remove the steering wheel like I was going to replace it then dropped it ? Do you think it would rotate without the wheel? I bought this car cheap thinking, oh I can fix that. I'm in way over my head lol
@@vinceperry7133 it maybe off slightly, you have to really spin it to be out of whack. The clock spring is not strong enough to turn the wheel. At the end of the day you reinstall it and see if you get an error. If you do it's not the end of the world, at that point we remove the clock spring and wind it back.
Thanks man
I only need to replace the dash pad. Any information on that?
No sorry, I do know you have to pull the dash. From there it's easier to remove the pad.
@@nicklldoit Thank you.
Thank u sir that was very helpful
Is this how you get to the heater core and condenser
Yes
Evaporator
@@johnanderson71 to replace that, you have no choice but to pull out the HVAC box
Do you have to take all the panels out to replace the AC vents? Mines broke and I have the new panel to put in but don’t want to take every panel out?
You can replace those without removing the dash, I have changed colors on another mustang.
I looked this up cause my dash board speedometer just shut down can’t see how fast or how much has I have and my ac only throw hot air now any help?
I'd love to see how to remove the wiring harness from the doors. There is literally no room to work in there
Everything was good amazing video besides not was size sockets to use
@@FabianRomero-u6v wondering if you had different sizes then I have.
@ no they were 13,10,8, a few 7 trying to watch and remove at the same time
@FabianRomero-u6v thanks for watching, hopefully it all helped at least
@ it most definitely did wish it was a way I could upload a picture so you could see thanks man
Great content!
hey nick. one question. i took out the gear shifter knob too but there's a spring mechanism inside. idk how to put it back can you help me with that.?
Hopefully someone can chime in on that issue, I don't have video on it. I would think to compress it back into it's spot.
Once you take it off, is it difficult to replace the dash top and reinstall?
Reinstall isn't hard, did it on my own. Replacing the top requires removing some more components after pulling the dash out of the car. It depends what tools you have on hand as well. In that case removing the passenger airbag maybe necessary.
I’ll be attempting a dash replacement soon. Could I just remove the steering wheel and not worry about disconnecting the steering column?
Pull the dash with the steering wheel still attached, it will be easier to remove what you need after that. You can just remove the steering wheel, but I would suggest removing the clock spring with it.
Do you have to reprogram the key if you switch the steering wheel with it?
Yes, unless you use the same key cylinder/tumbler.
When I disconnect the steering wheel from that joint how do I put it back on dose anyone know??
It extends and slides back on.
What about the airbags ? Do they come out with the dash ?
Yes, the harness is attached to the dash medal support.
Good stuff.
Have to do this to replace the top?
Yes, Will make it easier.
@@nicklldoit ok. Worries me I won't get it all back in and connected back up right again. Lol
@@badredfire3valve944 just remember it's easy, I did it on my own. If you have a helper then you are more than better off. Just keep telling yourself it's easy, just take your time.
@@nicklldoit I need the top black piece for mine now. And a driveshaft.
Did you remove the shifter ?
No, I put a towel over it for protection.
Thanks
Thanks for watching
Thank You!!!
Thanks bro
What exact tools
All metric sockets from 7 mm to 14mm
Simple you say ??!! Haaa ..I wasvwaiting for you to take out the motor also before removing dash . So it's pretty much remove everything except the motor and tires to remove dash.
@@DC-zd5ej if you follow the steps it's easy, took me longer because I was filming. It can be done in under 15 minutes.
Hey Nick, great video! I'm swapping the drivetrain, interior, and electrical from a 2014 5.0 Mustang into an 09 V6 Mustang. I'm working on the interior right now and this video was extremely helpful. I'm doing a video series on the build and would like to include a link to this video, rather than duplicating your efforts. I suspect you won't mind, but wanted to ask anyway.
