No need to apologize for the little one. And you are right, the extent of talent and work that goes into a production like this is way underappreciated.
Congrats, you are one of the few reactors that caught Geoff's little run in the background at 4:42. Nice.
VoicePlay goes all out with the theatrics. Makeup, costumes, etc. Santa is Geoff's brother-in-law. They just hit a million subscribers I have been doing my part to spread the wealth of their music.
Yep they are amazing theatrical group, tops. Home Free is great in their videos also, funny and great. pentatonix are more serious and pop, so those 3 in order 1,2.3. VoicePlay members also are more varied when it comes to "character" voices so they do a lot of disney, animated, cartoon video songs and such. Home Free a little more country with the addition of Tim, and Pentatonix does very serious music/pop. VoicePlay theatrical, Home Free fun and funny, and Pentatonix current and professional.
Never need to apologize for having a child. You smiled and so did she. Great Post. Now you have entered the Voice Play rabbit hole. Enjoy it. You will again, be amazed. Nice Post.
You're not the only person to get a shock when hearing Geoff Castellucci for the first time.
Now I want to hear what else you have on your list, we will be happy to give you more to listen to. 😀👍🍻
Like country roads
The Baby is a nice touch. love the little princess, love her hair to.
Geoff (the bass) has a fun YT channel where he has some "solo" work and has some fun explanation videos about hitting those low notes. Definitely check out more VoicePlay but test the waters of Geoff's "solo" work like his cover of The Beatles Blackbird.
Voiceplay was on the Sing Off the same season as Home Free. I recommend Little Mermaid, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Warriors, Carry on My Wayward Sons and My Mother Told Me.
Voice play has been together as a group for over 20 years
Your child is adorable and always welcome when I am watching. It's great for children to be raised around a lot of music!
Because you asked: Starting from the far right: Layne Stein, beatbox/baritone; Geoff Castellucci, bass; Eli (pronounced Elly) Jacobson, tenor 2; Earl Elkins, tenor 1, and J None, baritone. The thing is, they all are able to do pretty much everything. Geoff sings bass guitar and beatboxes from time to time, plus has 5 octaves. Eli (4 octaves) is the one who most often covers the bass line when Geoff is singing lead. Either Geoff or Layne do almost all of the arrangements.
Layne and Earl met at a snack machine in Jr high; Layne, Earl and Geoff all sang together from middle school forward. Eli knew them in high school, but didn't become friends until after, and wasn't a founding member - but he's been with VP for 10 years. Earl left in the summer of 2020 (listen to Heart of Life, the first song they presented after Earl left. A beautiful, tear jerking good bye. Don't look for details. We were just asked to respect Earl's privacy.) J just left after 3 years - he's joined the navy. The newest member is Oscar De La Rosa, just announced a week ago.
BUT: since the beginning they've always brought in and featured other singers - these guys are GOOD at making someone new sound like they've been with them for twenty years. And of course, that adds a lot of interest. So, for now they are four, but almost always have a 5th singer for each performance.
What I love best is that these guys are total musicians and put the music before everything - but there doesn't seem to be much ego involved. And they are FUNNY. If there can be a comedic or slapstick twist, they'll find it. For a song with no comedy and VIOLINS, check out Warriors. It's my favorite of everything they've done. Stunning arrangement. Now have fun!
Welcome to the voice play family. Geoff the bass also does low bass covers do the headless horseman you will gush love your show and cute child I love your personality and reactions
They really are underrated. They do a bunch of Disney medleys, so your daughter may enjoy those. The Little Mermaid Medley and the Moana Medley are particularly amazing. The bass is Geoff Castelucci and you can find some of his solo stuff (Sixteen Tonnes or Country Road) on here. The core of the group are Eli (tenor), Layne (beatbox) and Geoff. Over the years there have been some line up changes. Recently J None left because he was going into the military. Cesar was announced as joining the lineup full time. Earl was their (high tenor), and one of the originals. The core group have been performing together for years, and have been friends since high school. Their song SING is a must see, and they have little popups on screen that says who they are and how they relate to the group. Fun fact, Voice Play and Home Free competed against each other on the Sing Off, and Pentatonix appeared (and won) on an earlier season. So much talent. Can't wait to see which one you do next.
the reaction of people who hear voice play for the first time and especially Geoff's bass is so funny. dont worry I had the same reaction
Check out their Disney medleys, they're amazing.
Underrated is the word you're looking for.
Geoff Castellucci is peak subharmonics. Geoff, Tim Foust from "Home Free" and Avi Kaplan formally from pentatonix are the big trio of bass. Kinda like Morissette, So Hyang and Katrina Velarde.
They specialized in different techniques. Similar to Morissette focused on her range and power belts plus whistles and So Hyang focused on her mix belts and headvoice/falsetto.
Tim Foust uses growls for the ridiculous notes. Avi sounds best with his chest bass notes. Geoff does absolutely peak subharmonics, The last note for example. 6:35
They are not true Basso Profundo that speak only in the first octave and would burst a blood vessel hitting the 4th octave.
Instead they are in between the arbitrary line that separates bass from baritone. Their natural speaking voices are all in the 2nd octave. They can hit the lowest basso profundo notes but also have extended ranges around five octaves. Glad you are getting to know them.
Santa is not a member of the group. He’s the basses brother in law.
always love watching a voiceplay first timer. Excellent reaction :)
Voiceplay has close to One Million subscribers. The bass singer is Geoff Castallucci, he has his own channel where he sings all the parts by himself, and does the beatboxing as well.
Actually, I am unaware of any music on his channel that uses beatboxing, although it's possible some does. He uses actual instruments and drums on his own channel. He has confirmed this himself.
Didn't mind the little one. She was just doing what little ones do. You would enjoy the Voiceplay version of "My mother told me" or Home Free cover of "When a man loves a woman".
Now you should check out Voiceplay singing My Mother Told Me!! If your daughter likes Disney, you two could check out Voiceplay's Moana Medley and Little Mermaid Medley. Geoff Castelucci (bass singer) has some solo songs. I suggest Sixteen Tons!!
Geoff Castellucci is a Bass God! He has his own channel and his own videos he does by himself of songs. I highly recommend looking at his channel on UA-cam. Thanks for another great reaction!
Enjoy every moment with your girl at this age - they grow up way too fast. ;)
Geoff Castellucci sung the part of Oogie Boogie- a phenomenal singer with a 5 octave range (Despite being listed as such on the VP website & being able to hit speaker destroying low notes, Geoff doesn't consider himself a bass)
Layne Stein (the guy with the tip of his nose lit up) is VoicePlay's Vocal Percussionist & beatboxer (as well as the arranger for most of their music).
The guy of hairless style is Tenor Eli Jacobson.
Of the other two that appear in this video:
bearded Earl Elkins Jr. left the group in July 2020.
Last, but certainly not least, J. None is on temporary hiatus while fulfilling his military obligations.
His position as Baritone/Tenor2 is presently being filled by Cesar De La Rosa.
The kid gagging was the absolute icing on the cake! 😂😂
🤭 😂
@@SamanthaLisa 😊👍🏼
Yet another delightful reaction. VoicePlay is another superb a capalla band. Some one once said that when he dies and if he gets to heaven, he wants music from Voctave, Home Free, VoicePlay, and Pentatonix greeting him. Me, too.
I Ioved your response to Geoff Castellucci when your brain realized that he actually HIT that LOW BASS NOTE!!! And he drilled it!
I just found your channel and had to come back to see the first time you heard VoicePlay. I love your reactions. I will definitely be watching you more. Enjoy your babies because take it from me, they grow up too fast. 😀
Geoff goes from belting a B4 in full chest to hitting an E1 subharmonic in seconds
Absolutely amazing singer
Don't never apologize for having your babies with you baby they are precious
Check out literally anything with Geoff Castellucci! Including more Voiceplay! Great reaction
Aww I love the little one holding her finger up like "just a moment please" while you were rewinding the video 😂
Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix, Karl Hudson of Voctave, and Tim Faust of Home Free have all said that Geoff Castellucci of Voiceplay is a deeper voice than they are, capable of hitting much lower notes than each of them can. Castellucci disputes this, but very few people believe him and for the most part, he's considered one of the lowest voices in music right now.
As for Ebony, its okay. Let her play, and if she introduces her own music to the video, so be it. I love how you interacted with her.
Thank you so much 🥰
You should definaty checkout thier ft s with rachel potter especially their version of Phantom of the opera..... also a lesser known song they do is thier cover of imagine dragons "Warrior"!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎😎💯🧐
Fun fact:
If you activate the subtitles for that video, the subtitles for the last part are:
The Oogie (Low)
Boogie (Lower)
Man (Subterranean)
VoicePlay appear to have a more theaterical flare with costumes, props, and backdrops. It's hard to find a bad song so give them a little more love.
I think it's adorable your daughter joined you. Shows you how real and relatable you are. I'm a new subscriber and absolutely love your reactions. Keep being true to you!
Thank you so much 🥰
Geoff has a 5 octave vocal range, and also has his own UA-cam channel. You might wamt to view and react to some more of his videos as well as any of the acappella channels! 👌
Enjoyed your reaction. Thank you for sharing.
No need to be sorry for having Ebony there with you. Every parent here knows the challenges and joy of our children and she is adorable. I especially loved when she was holding her finger up kinda telling us "just wait a sec while we do this..." So epic and unexpectedly real. As far as your reaction to Geoff's low notes, he is the master of the Subharmonic skill. Voiceplay is usually more theatrical with their videos than many of the other accapella groups. If you like the deep notes and, like me, are very family love orientated, please check out their cover of Johnny Cash's song "Daddy Sang Bass". It is so wonderful and heartwarming.
Once again, it was great to see the reality of family life with Ebony joining you in thew video. You are so real and authentic. Good luck and keep up the hard work. You are amazing.
Thank you so much🥰
The first time I saw this I said that's the guy with the long hair Austin from the band Home Free in makeup he looks just like him if you didn't know better you would think it was him and he sounds just like them his hairstyle is the same as the guy with long hair it's good but very interesting
Now have a listen to Geoff's 16 Tons.....he is the bass....Avi, Geoff and Tim are all friends and helped each other with their craft. VoicePlay, PTX and Home Free are all top notch...I only have one complaint about Geoff.....he sometimes uses the bass as what I perceive as a gimmick just to drop the low note....I much prefer when it is done musically and fits the song....as it does here, in his 16 Tons, and the Headless Horseman. Check out his "Blackbird" as well...all amazing.
I do agree with you on how he uses the low note sometimes. I love Geoff, I really do. I could not listen to his version of Country Roads though. It started out good, but then he kept alternating between the low notes and higher notes so much that I had to turn it off. Just my personal opinion though. Country Roads is one of my favorite songs, and I doubt anyone but John Denver could really do it justice (IMO). Kinda like no one but Freddy Mercury can sing Bohemian Rhapsody.
@@Kristen242008 Check out Home Free's version of Country Roads, as well as PTX version of Bohemian Rhapsody...you might change your mind on that. Although I do agree, the originals are mostly the best..but HF and PTX have a way sometimes of taking the original, modernizing it and making it their own while paying homage to the original.
Start with Headless Horseman or Blackbird. 16 Tons and Misty Mountain need built up to.
Voice play is from Orlando Florida
Try Tennessee Whisky , the song, by VoicePlay, although you're welcome to try the drink as well I suppose. Not hoky poky but Oogie Boogie. Very different song. :) VoicePlay have been singing for over 20 years and now live in Florida. The low bass singer is Geoff Castellucci, the beatboxer is Layne Stein, two of the other guys have now left the group. (Earl with the beard and J.None who is black) The other (bald) guy is still with them And yes, that's the effect Geoff has on most people. :) Ebony is no problem.
Voiceplay is so versatile and their videos are so much fun! I can't wait to see you experience more of their work.
VoicePlay has been together since 1997, tho they've changed members several times. In this video the members are Geoff Castellucci (the bass/lead in this one), Layne Stein (Beatboxer/the one with the shiny nose), Eli Jacobson (Tenor/Pronounces "Ellie"), Earl Elkins (High tenor) and J.None (Baritone). Earl left last year and J.None left recently but they've now welcomed another official member who's incredible.
PD: The Santa is not part of the group he's Geoff brother-in-law.
I would highly recommend "The Little Mermaid Medley", the "Moana Medley", "Boy Bands in 5 minutes", "Queen in 5 minutes", "This is Halloween", "My mother told me", "Bang!" and "Warriors". Also you can check out the newer covers of "Butter", "We're Good" and "If I were a rich man/girl"
What a cutie!
You should react to their song, This is Halloween. It really shows off how they can do character voices.
Home Free and Voice Play were on the sing off together and became good friends since they did a video together called zombies v hillbillies ( survivor)
New subscriber
And ebony is just wanting mom’s attention. She’s cute by the way. And when you say something or anything to her she listens with respect towards you. And I love that you both are admiring voice play. They have many videos up about 9 years worth. But we’ll pick the fan favorites and some we haven’t heard in awhile. And along with you and them bring smiles to use viewers and subscribers
Awwww, i dont think anyone is botherd by Ebony, as shes super adorable.
Glad you like them! They are awesome. The Theater kids of accapella!
Check out their other performance from "The Nightmare Before Christmas. "This is Halloween".
Your daughter is just beautiful and what a precious little girl. And, that face she made at her bottle was so cute.
No need to apologize for your daughter. You’re a mom and she’s wonderful.
I enjoy Voiceplay, but I must say I really enjoy Geoff's solo numbers. I would suggest "my mother told me" by Voiceplay, and "far over the misty mountains cold" by Geoff solo. Your short person is a sweetheart BTW 💕 enjoy her while she is young 😊
Your daughter is precious!
Ebony is absolutely adorable! She was watching the video for awhile and you can see she was really interested. She’s a little young yet and no doubt would lose interest quickly, but it’d be fun if you gave her a set of headphones and let her hear it with you. Anyway, I loved your first time reaction. I’ll be looking to see what else you’ve checked out.
You don not ever need to apologize for your gorgeous child.
First First of all, I agree with you, you are hot. Being a good mum or dad is a full-time job. Love that you do it so well. Voiceplay, you can’t help but smile.
For an earthshaking experience, try Geoff Castelucci's ( the low voice) Misty Mountains ...he layers himself into four characters. And My Mother Told Me cover by VoicePlay...staggering!
SHE IS SOOOO CUTE!!😇
Hi Samantha VOICEPLAY is my favorite a capella group. they're so talented. For the next , here few suggestions :
GO THE DISTANCE
ELEANOR RIGBY
LITTLE MERMAID MEDLEY
MAN IN THE MIRROR
WE'RE GOOD
CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON
BUTTER AND SO MANY MORE
Thanks in advance Samantha, I appreciate your enthousiasm btw your daughter is so cute, wow, congratulations
She is a doll. Think about it this way. She helped you pause to keep the video from being blocked.
OH!!! well quite ;ove;y dear, this was fantastic!!! love you both ♥
Stopping has no effect on blocking so don’t if you prefer not to. Love your reactions!!!♥️
Geoff is amazing if you think that’s something try tim Foust in home free your man live version
That baby girl is adorable take it from a Great Grandpa she's a pip!
Hi Samantha and the gorgeous Ebony , great to you both looking well. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This song is good for seeing Geoffs range as he sings high and low in it but it is not good for the others as they are singing with the character voices for the kids from the movie. A good video to see the range of the others would be one of the songs like Boy bands in 5 minutes or Queen in 5 minutes.
They have done a few bits from the move so it can be good to rewatch the movie if it has been some time or watch it if you missed it when younger to see how they have recreated it
Geoff has done some solo work on his personal channel so that is another thing to check out and getting into PTX you will also run into Avi's work after he retired from the group
She had to check her invisible watch when he hit that LOL
I'm impressed. Not only did you catch the low note at the end but you ALSO caught the low not in the middle as well. Most people miss it!
Thats Voice play, Geof is the amazing bass, they've lost 2 members, but still kicking, others Holloween headless horsemen, My Mother Told Me, Little Mermaid, Sixteen Tons, (by himself)Misty Mountain(by himself), and more, PTX, Homefree, Voiceplay, all have amazing bass's, beautiful 😍 lady enjoy and thank you.
They announced a new member a couple of days ago, so they're back up to 4.
Recognition is the word you’re looking for
Samantha
I noticed that you were in shock when Geoff hit that low note at the end. Even vocal coaches and singers were also caught off guard when he hit that note when they were reacting for their channels too. Besides hitting those notes (subharmonics), Geoff has a vocal range of 4 to 5 Octaves. There is another singer named Tim Foust of Home Free has similar vocal range. All these groups in Acapella genre: VoicePlay, Home Free and Pentatonix are good friends. Back to Geoff, he has his own UA-cam channel: Geoff Castellucci. One video is how to sing bass and even lower bass into subharmonics such as one at the end: Note is E1 without damaging vocal chords. Plus on his channel, Geoff has done covers of songs. Latest one is his cover of Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold. That song is based from Tolkien's The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey made into a movie by Peter Jackson who also did Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Also voice play my mother told me. It's a Viking shanty you will melt
Don't apologize about Ebony... she was a beautiful addition to your reaction!
Thank you
Check out Geoff doing "Country road take me home."
Don't apologise for Ebony, she is totally adorable.
Great reaction, new subscriber here. 😁
No, pero que niña tan linda! I loved your reaction to this. Hearing that last note changed my understanding of physics. Such a fun performance.
Hopfully we will get to see Ebony's reaction to this video, someday.
7:08
And that's why we asked you to use headphones. ;-)
If you enjoy Geoff then I feel like you might enjoy his song Headless Horseman. Talk about low notes.
My favorites are Warriors and My Mother Told Me.
I think you may have covered every single facial expression while watching this.
You remind me of Natalie Casey (Donna) from '2 pints of Lager & a Packet of Crisps' 😁
She should be with you every time!
Please, no apologies for the young lady joining in the video. Ebony was a delight and a beautiful addition to the team.
Love geoff, you like bass voices look up tim storms lonesome road. It will blow you away
Exposure!!!!
Such a great cover and loved your reaction Sam! Voiceplay just dropped today (7/23) there cover of "If I Were a Rich Man" featuring Ashley Diane and it is fantastic! Would love to see you react to it.
Check out Geoff Castellucci doing "16 Tons"
I wish I could hear Geoff for the first time again❤️
Oh my God Ebony is so cute 😍
Ebony is beautiful and very well behaved. Love
hello, - from dimash, you are missing among others: adagio - ogni pietra - autumn strong - hello - opera 2 - diva dance - drunken concubine (dimash + li yugang) - elim menim - across endless dimensions - avé maria. - if you like low voices, listen to geoff castellucci: oogie boogie's song - daddy sang bass - saddle up - mele kalimaka - the bare necessities - moana medley - you're a mean one mr. grinch - the headless horseman - monster mash - hoist the colors - my mother told me - sixteen tons - misty mountains cold. - another group: the hu: wolf totem - yuve yuve yu. another band: home free tim foust - the ring of fire... - another band: the hu - wolf totem - yuve yuve yu. then: zhou shen - dalabengba, have fun, greetings.
another group you might like is heilung - norupo
You know this is from the movie called nightmare before Christmas.
The word you were struggling for is exposure, I'm betting. The last note you heard is what south park called the brown note, because when you hear it, you poop yourself! Lmao... pretty sure I had to go wipe too. Fun reaction. :-)
😂
At the end he is singing in a e1 cord
So glad you gave Voice Play a shot! They are awesome. My favorites are Warriors, Eleanor Rigby, You're My Best Friend, Butter, and Carry On, Wayward Son. Of course, I really like 'em all! The beat boxer is Laine Stein, and he is also does much of their arranging. The bald tenor is Eli (pronounced ELL-LEE) Jacobson. They are still in the current lineup, but a couple of other members have changed. The bass, Geoff Castellucci, has some incredible solo work on his channel... try Sixteen Tons (an older American Song about coal mining), High and Dry, Blackbird (a Beatles song).
Suggest the little mermaid medley by them
