Sorting out my Fender JagStang

- A video about my Fender JagStang which I got in 2005, where I replace a broken switch, lower them down, level the frets and clean the whole thing up - as well as showing some embarrassing footage.
Mongoloid (by Devo) performed by Parrot Genius in our only show: me on guitar, Harley on bass and Henry on drums. Blue Lagoon, Bristol, 2010.

Thanks for watching!
Clever remedy for the pickup switches. Cobain's guitar tech just lopped them off.
Love the Devo tune! Yeah, this is the sort of guitar they would play as well, many offsets in the early days.
I thought the title first said “snorting off my jagstang” 😂😂😂
Awesome, my favourite of all your videos!!
Thanks man!
Nice teardown! I just bought the 2021 edition and I can’t wait to play it. 🤤 Been wanting one since 96. 🙄. We’ll see. nice cover btw… 😜
Cool! Yeah you never used to see them anywhere - I think mine was only the second I'd ever seen.
Cool video. Keep up the good work!
Thanks!
The old Mongaloid song? Cool haven't heard that in ages. Cool!
Haha that was an emergency cover to fill up some time - me and the bass player knew it (he was a huge Devo fan) but I'm not sure our drummer had even heard of it!
It was either a Cat or a Seagul with heavy motion. 😃
Kurt cut had Ernie Bailey to cut his switches so he doesn't hit one while playing. Ernie even used playing cards to shim the neck of the guitar
It may be irrelevant a year later but switchcraft makes low profile switches too. I cut the top off mine with a pair of snips and smoothed em with a soldering iron. My Cobain mustang came with foam spacers to lower them down to flush. The jagstang neck is my favorite neck ever.
Ah do they? That's good to know, cheers. Yeah I wondered about filing them down, but I kind of like the optical illusion of the hole going deeper than the pickguard!
@@MinimGuitars yea Switchcraft does. I don't remember what I searched for them, probably low profile mustang switches. Yours turned out cool, honestly that looks alot better than my cut off switches, lol.
Right handed Jagstang, how un cool. I'm only joking i'm a southpaw. I love my Jagstang and it's MIJ. The quality of the craftsmanship on Japanes Guitars is for the most stunning. I have a Sonic blue one, fantastic instrument. Am after a PRS C24, that's next on my list.
liked your vid at the end
Cool thanks!
'I got a chair', lol. I wondered about the butter tubs 😅. I really like the editing on this one, really slick. It must feel so much nicer to play now, really renew your enjoyment of a clearly beloved old guitar. Do you think that making new, cigar box guitars has given you the experience and confidence to fix up your 'real' guitars without messing them up?
Thanks! Yeah it has, especially with fret jobs. Having my own guitars and lots of cheap refurb projects to work on is also beneficial.
Watching other people take care of their guitars >>>> take care of my guitars
It looks very nice man, love the pickguard idea
These look sexy in fiesta red even tho I think it's an unpopular opinion lol
Cool thanks! Yeah I think the red is cool, the shop only had this one - I had only seen the blue ones before.
Dude great video!! Did you ever record the setup or the 3-way switch change?
Thanks! Unfortunately no footage of the setup. I haven't done the switch mod yet - I'd have to get a new pickup and stuff first so I'm just leaving like this for now.
That's a pretty good idea for the switching with the push-pull pot. I've got a 500k p/p pot sitting in my bench. Dang. I'd like to do that. I have a white JB in my Jagstang too. Should be splittable. Sweet.
Cheers! Yeah that's a common mod, if you already have the pot may as well use it!
@@MinimGuitars For sure. I haven't tried looking yet, for a diagram, do you have one or know of where to get one off hand?
@@bciecko1 Nothing specific unfortunately - I'm not planning on using a push/pull so I didn't look very much into that. I saw a few variations in different forums but I don't think there's many diagrams around! Here's a couple I found though: tinyurl.com/bfpwmt4z tinyurl.com/5yxbs7rm maybe you can try mixing and matching together, good luck!
@@MinimGuitars For sure. Thanks.
You can get switch spacers from Factionguitars comes w longer screws I think.
Ah okay, they look like pretty much what I made except without the black/white ply going all the way down! I would need longer screws if I put them any deeper though.
dude. you did relic them and it makes them 1000.00 more expensive. go to a guitar shop and listen to the salesman. they almost sound convincing.
Screw either found it's way into to wire route or is stuck to the pickup somewhere
Sounds way out of tune and sloppy I like my. Fender nashville telecaster and all my other favorite guitars I own
that horrible music we are listening to ......its yours isnt it?
