Un dato histórico jon, Isidora Goyenechea fue viuda de Luis Cousiño, ella en esa época (fines del siglo XIX) heredo toda la fortuna de su marido Luis, fue considerada una de las 10 mujeres mas ricas del mundo en su época, tuvo una viña, minas de carbon, plata, etc, su propia flota de barcos, su mansión de residencia oficial (el Palacio Cousiño que aun existe en Santiago) fue considerada una de las residencias mas lujosas de América en esa época y una de las mas adelantadas (fue la primera en sudamerica en tener electricidad y ascensor) ella fue amiga personal de Thomas Edison, razón por la cual la ciudad de Lota fue la primera en sudamerica en tener energía eléctrica y su palacio fue la primera residencia en sudamerica en tener electricidad y agua caliente y fría simultaneamente (una rareza en esa época), de echo parte del legado de la Familia Cousiño y de Isidora Goyenechea lo puedes encontrar por ejemplo en el palacio cousiño (su residencia que hoy es museo), el parque O'higgins (antes llamado parque cousiño que fue construido por ellos para Santiago), la viña cousiño Macul y el barrio el golf en Santiago (ese lugar fue tierras de la famila y las donaron para hacer ese barrio), y sumado al legado que dejaron en Lota donde estuviste, saludos.

Hola Jon, que experiencia!!! Las minas son para valientes, esforzados hombres. Si te intereza hay un escritor chileno llamado Baldomero Lillo, el en dos obras relata magistralmente la vida en la mina, te las recomiendo, especialmente "El Chiflon del diablo". Es muy triste pero, buena obra.

My city! Finally! I was born in Concepción and its my favourite city in the world! Now, I live in a very similar city, in the sense that is s smallish, everything is very close by and as Conce, it is an university city, Nottingham, in England.

Im living in concepcion rigth now and I think is a very modern city it has grown up a lot since the last decade. The areas between concepción hualpen lomas de san andres san pedro y talcahuano are developed a great infrastructure and beatiful views highways are awesome.

A few years ago, the movie and television series SUB TERRA, based on the book of the same name, was filmed in Lota. It tells the stories, sufferings and deep social differences lived by coal miners and their families at the end of the XIX century and Early XX ... In the film also appear historical characters such as Isidora Goyenechea (owner of the mine), Baldomero Lillo (author of the book) and Luís Cousiño.

( y que era detectado con la muerte de esas avecillas..).. lo llamaban el "grisú". Además el insigne escritor Baldomero Lillo... rescata y describe en sus cuentos la cruenta vida del minero de ese tiempo ... . en el libro " Subterra "... una obra literaria de vívidos relatos.

Yo crecí en coronel al lado de lota ....veía a mis tíos y vecinos ir muy temprano a trabajar a las minas ...que recuerdo aquellos ....nunca quise bajar a la mina chiflon del diablo porque me daba miedo miedo....me parece que en el tiempo del presidente Frei terminaron por cerrar todas las minas ...
Mina el chlflon del diablo in the 1800's would have been the most appalling working conditions, child labour, unsafe practices, accidents. it was the Hades for the miners and Mr Cousiños cornucopia.
