The fact that there is much more than just universities and colleges around the city makes it even more favorable to me; The food market, the harbor and the fact that it's only few kilometers from the mighty Niagara Falls are some of the few items I look forward to.

I grew up in Northwestern Quebec and came to live i Hamilton in 1975. Anything you could ever need or want is right here or close by. I particularly love being so close to Lake Ontario waterfront areas, and close to Niagara wineries and farms where you can buy fresh produce at the roadside on highway 8.

The Gage Park Greenhouse - the building itself is awesome, as well as the tropical garden. Ottawa Street, the fabric and antique center. The three parallel trails - Mountain Brow Blvd above, the more natural Rail Trail just below, connected by stairs, and the natural Red Hill Valley footpath in the woods below that. Monthly Art Crawls on James Street North and the annual 3 day Supercrawl. Running outside and looking up whenever you hear the unmistakable roar of the WWll Lancaster flying over, one of the last two still operational in the world - usually with a couple of Spitfires or Mosquitos along for the trip. I could keep going. I love this city.
As someone who was born and raised in Hamilton, I can say it is a beautiful place. Although it is filled with crime, poverty and gang violence. Definitely a city with tons of character
Haven't been thru or to Hamilton in 30 years or so....last time I was there, there was a fully operational steel mill next to the QEW, just before you crossed the Burlington Bridge, it was on the left going toward Toronto. Also remember some really nice Royal Botanical Gardens. And in the day, use to watch, CHCH TV Ch. 11(not sure if there still is)

Well, I must admit that I like Toronto better because I’ve been there many times because I have many relatives there. I have a few of them in Hamilton, so I really don’t know about Hamilton. All I know is that Hamilton has some factories like steel mills and others in front of Hamilton Harbor and I really can’t smell. As for Toronto, it is a very cosmopolitan city just like Chicago that offers many things to do around Toronto. I am an American citizen who was born and grew up in Rochester, New York which is 3 hours driving away from Toronto.
Have you been to hamilton ? Ive been here 12 years and its gotten worse now and i mean the lower city has. Try walking kn york st right by Jackson square as an example. There are massive number of addicts pushing their carts around, garbage is strewn right on the sidewalk, tent cities everywhere. We haven't yet got to gangs and turf wars on a large scale level but that is surely coming. The city is falling apart and none more so than in downtown core. I am not sure why anyone would want to live here. I am just looking for thr ticket out myself.
Grew up just down the highway from Hamilton. You are right about Jackson Square and certain parts of the city. It has a reputation as a tough place and it is compared to other cities around it but that is why it is called Steel Town with Dofasco and Stelco….. and the hard strong hard working people…… blue collar respect for Hamilton. I lived there for two years and I did leave but I have a soft spot for Hamilton. But you are right.
This is so untrue lmfao, Hamilton I cheap only thing that makes it good, that and the variety of food, other that it is very dangerous and also the one of the only areas for pedophile rehabilitation (look it up), don't walk the OC at night unless you packed up, don't walk any of the trails at night unless they are known fishing spots. In general I would never live in Hamilton under any circumstances, most the pipes in the buildings are old like to old, the buildings them selves most old ones have been used in meth and acid opps, (I'm a reno guy that works Hamilton) live in tge city next door, there traffic lmfao have fun, the smell alone on most days in the summer. Lived and had friends here all my life so this is real, all the best.
