  • We visited Hamilton, Ontario for a day of sightseeing around the city and surrounding area. On our day trip we saw some waterfalls, street art, a castle, and enjoyed some great food and drinks along the way. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so we had to cut our itinerary short - but here’s what we got up to on our day of sightseeing in Hamilton, Ontario!

    0:44 ✔️ Webster Falls
    3:29 ✔️ Dundas, Ontario
    3:54 ✔️ Tews Falls & Dundas Peak

    Webster Falls
    (from: conservationhamilton.ca/spenc...)

    Your two-hour hike experience features a hike along a trail rich in history, as you approach Webster Falls, a 22-metre classical curtain waterfall that is one of Hamilton’s most iconic waterfalls.
    Travel across the beautifully restored cobblestone bridge that crosses Spencer Creek, to the accessible Dobson-McKee lookout that offers stunning views of the gorge and vistas.
    Dundas Peak & Tews Falls
    (from: conservationhamilton.ca/spenc...)
    Parking lot located at 581 Harvest Road, Dundas
    Your two-hour hike experience will start at Tew Falls, which at 41 metres is just a few metres shorter than Niagara Falls.

    Dundurn Castle
    (from: www.hamilton.ca/attractions/h...)
    Experience a guided tour of this 40-room Italianate-style villa built in the 1830’s on Burlington Heights; the former site of a fortified military encampment established by the British in 1813.
    Once home to Sir Allan Napier MacNab, railway magnate, lawyer and Premier of the United Canadas (1854-1856) and his family, today Dundurn Castle tells the story of the family who lived above stairs and the servants who lived and worked below stairs to support their affluent lifestyle. Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall is the museum’s Patron and the great, great, great granddaughter of Sir Allan MacNab.

    Hello everyone! I hope you enjoy some of the highlights from our recent day trip to Hamilton, Ontario. If there are any locals here - what other attractions do you recommend?

      Hi.. I am local to Hamilton. I recently moved here, so i explored some of them,
      they are 1. Sherman Falls(They are Parking for $11 for an hour)
      2. Smokey Hollow Waterfall(Very busy place, Its free so you have to wait for parking)
      3. Tiffany Falls (Again too pricy but beautiful, $11 for an hour parking)
      4. BayFront Park (Its beautiful park in day and night, over crowded in weekends)

      It’s not urban trendy but you want some old school places to eat? Try Hutch’s on the beach down the east end way. Easterbrook’s Hot Dog stand just inside Burlington, around the Royal Botanical Gardens is an institution in the area. The hot dogs are awesome. The fries are great and the gravy is a living thing. Both places are plastered with local memorabilia so they’re like eating in a time capsule. Oh ya, the Royal Botanical Gardens are awesome if you like flowers and nature.
      Finally, they don’t call Hamilton the Waterfall Capital of the World for nothing. All that water from Lake Erie has to leak into Lake Ontario and Niagara Falls ain’t the only place that happens.

    Wow... I've lived in Hamilton for decades . Haven't ever been to the peak in Dundas. Nice that you did that ... got to see it finally. I ride my bike on the bottom along a street in Dundas and i see them from my ride at the peak up there. Would of liked you to include Mountain brow at the Concession. Its the best view of the city with your Timmies right at dusk. Nice job... loved it.

    Webster falls look beautiful . I love the shot with the bridge in the back. Funny you have to reserve spaces even though it's all outdoors and it all looked so quiet. Was that because they planned it that way or it just wasn't fully booked when you got there? I looove waterfalls (i think maybe everyone does) and these were all beautiful. Deffo go chasing waterfalls! Danny's all about craft beers - think he'd like that bar a lot, looked nice. Some great street art in the city.

    Man, those curated trails around the Dundas Peak are nice. A lot easier than just trudging through the bush like we used to do back in the day. I grew up in Dundas so climbing the Peak and sitting on the edge of Webster’s Falls was just a party thing we did. Not a fan of that new fence. I honestly don’t remember loosing anyone to a fall from there. Car accidents took more teens back then than The Peak. Ahhhh… The 70’s, eh?!

    • @TheAverageTourist
      @TheAverageTourist  2 роки тому +1

      The trails were very well maintained, I couldn't imagine trudging through the trees and shrubs. I bet it was a totally different experience without the fence there.

    • @SeanVedell
      @SeanVedell 2 роки тому

      @@TheAverageTourist it’s funny that I used to climb and party around there without any fear at all. The last time I was up there I had my kids with when they were young teenagers and I was afraid the whole time. The fence is a good idea but I’ll always remember it without. Oh ya, there were trails between the Peak and the falls but they were not manicured. Not even close.

    Hey guys, it looks like there is quite a bit to do around Hamilton :) while it can be a pain to have to book your time at the falls at least the area isn't crowded when you do visit. It is a bummer you couldn't fly your drone at Webster Falls, we run into that what seems like everywhere here!
    Dundas Peak looked like a cool place, that is crazy the fence only went up recently.
    So glad to see you two at a brewery again 🍻 I like that the restaurant classified food as tacos and not tacos 😂

    • @TheAverageTourist
      @TheAverageTourist  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah there's quite a bit to do around Hamilton if you like hiking and the outdoors. We didn't actually mind the booking system because it made it less busy at the waterfalls. Even with our small drone it's so hard to find places to fly. And yes so glad to be back at some breweries🙌

      There’s a fence around the Peak? Well that takes all the fun out of it. I climbed up that thing more times than I can count as a teenager. I’m lucky to be alive looking back on that level of stupidity. Going down was the hard part. Again, lucky to be here in retrospect.

    • @TheAverageTourist
